Can't reinstall canon pixma ip4200 printer on xp sp3 32-bit computer

Lost capability to print with my IP4200 printer XP SP3 32-Bit computer...
Tried another forum with question:
1. Can't print...
2. Went to Printers and Faxes but no printer (IP4200 only printer) shown.
3, Tried to ADD Local Printer but Wizard stopped with message that "Specified Port not Known".
4. Went to Port windows and tried to ADD port but I couldn't so tried to CREATE but I couldn't do that  -- the screen seemed to frozen in time.
5. I uninstalled all canon printer IP4200 software/drivers and reinstalled them with no change to trying setup the printer with the xp computer.  I do get a flag in the right bottom corner saying something like "You have new hardware awaiting installation".
RESPONSE: Goto canon support website and read all manuals/brochrues then download them all printer software/drivers, and try to setup the printer again.  No different results from the first time...now I am here asking the CANON Forum for help!!
Something is NOT letting me configure printer ports.  I looked at the Harware and have not yellow flag and properties say Device is working properly.  Help, and thanks in advance.

Hi FLJerry,
So we can better assist you, please reply with the following information:
1.  Is your printer plugged directly into a USB port on your computer, or into a USB hub or other device connected to your computer?  If into a hub, if you plug it directly into your computer, is it able to be installed successfully?
2.  Do you have another USB cable you can use to connect the printer to the computer?
3.  Do you have the USB cable plugged into a USB port on the front or back of your computer?  If into a front USB port, if you plug it into a back port, does the printer install successfully?
4.  If you temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall software that is on your computer and then attempt to reinstall the printer, are you ble to install it successfully?
We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Canon Pixma iP4200 - print settings for large black (text) cartridge?

I would be glad of advice as to what settings to use so that my Canon Pixma iP4200 uses its separate (for text) black ink cartridge, as opposed to its 'photo' black cartridge.
I have put screenshots of the options here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/gillylal/print
Thank you very much for any advice.

    Hello Gillylal,
Of the four settings listed, the best for text only printing is "Composite Document". Most of the time this will mean that black text will use the black cartidge, as opposed to using CMY to print a black equivalent. However, this can vary depending on the application and the colour value it sends to the printer for its text. PowerPoint can often send it's text data with an RGB value not quite equal to black. Therefore the printer can mix some of the other colours with the black, or use the CMY tanks to print a brownish 'black'.
As for the lack of a text only option, well this is the grayscale setting. Regardless of the colour value, only the black cartridge will be used. And if the text does have some value other than black, it will look less solid as the printer does its best to make the colour look different by using the black cartridge.
    Hope this helps...

  • Can't add Canon Pixma MX310 printer with OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite

I just got a new laptop that is running OS X Yosemite.  I have my Canon Pixma MX310 printer plugged in via USB but I can't add it.  When I go to the Add screen in preferences, in the default window, Canon MX310 series comes up.  When I select it, I have to "Choose a Driver" in order for the add button to not be greyed out.  Auto select is greyed out so I can only choose Select software which doesn't have anything for Canon or Other which is to select a downloaded driver.  Problem is, when I go to the Canon website to download the driver it says "There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver."  Any ideas?

  • I desperately need help installing Canon Pixma ip6000D printer in Windows 7 64-bit

My software CD (drivers, etc.) will not work with Windows 7 64-bit. I have tried running it in Windows XP compatibility mode, but it says it is made for 32-bit and will not work with 64-bit. Canon's website says it has an add-on module, but it doesn't have
the printer driver, and it says "Your printer must be installed via Microsoft Update before you download and use this module." I have tried to find a way to install the printer via Microsoft Update, But I can't find any information
    about how to do this.
I have also done searches for the canon pixma ip6000d drivers for windows 7 64-bit, but all the results I have seen say that they are an add-on modules.
I would GREATLY appreciate any help with this.

After doing some more digging, I found a solution, and hopefully it will help anyone else who is having problems. Go to this page:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Install-a-printer
You can manually install the printer by following these instructions. If the model of your printer does not show (mine didn't), click the update button. It will take several minutes (maybe longer if you have a slow internet connection), but eventually it
will bring up a new list of printers. Just choose your printer and follow the instructions. My printer is working fine now.

  • Windows XP computer can't monitor Canon Pixma iP5000 printer status

I just replaced old wireless router with Airport Extreme. Attached Canon Pixma iP5000 and can print using Bonjour, but the Canon BJ printer status applicaton (shows ink levels and reports printer issues) is not working (apparently can't communicate with the printer) on my main computer (Compaq Presario running Windows XP) which is attached to Airport Extreme by ethernet cable. Any suggestions on a solution?

To my knowledge this kind of ability wouldnt work but it all depends on the printer drivers aka "software" as when you have the printer connected to the airport express or extreme its being used via a print server where as the software included with the printer may not support such as most manufacturers intend for the printer to be connected directly. There are however some manufacturers such as hp and so on that do have printers designated as "network printers" that do have such ability to be monitored over the network via software for supplies, status n etc.
To sum it up though from what i can see on the canon website it doesnt look like this is going to work. You can print to it but as for the other features as ink monitoring it looks like unless its directly connected you cant use it.

  • Cd printing with a canon pixma ip4200 + photoshop/illustrator

Sorry if im posting this in the wrong forum.
I just recently bought a canon pixma ip4200 printer mainly for its cd printing function.
the software that comes with it is very basic. I have photoshop and illustrator, but i cant get the print to allign properly through these 2 programs. i can only succesfully print with the canon software.
i was just wondering if anyone here uses the same printer with photoshop/illustrator and can get 100% allignment on the print.
Ive played with the settings within photoshop/illustrator, but i dont want to keep wasting cds trying to perfect it.
failing that, does anyone know of any other good software for cd printing.
i recently installed a demo of Disc Cover from MacWorld magazine, but wouldnt want to commit to buying it until i was certain it worked properly.
    Cheers

  • I am attempting to connect my Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8.  After loading software from Canon and attempting to print, I get the following message: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.  What can I do to fix this?

I just purchased and installed a Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my PC desktop with Windows XP.  It works fine.  It has been successfully installed on my network and I am able to use it with my laptop running VISTA.  However, I am trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and I am not having much luck.  I can see it as one of the printer choices when attempting to print; however, I get the following message:
    NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I have been searching for answers, but nothing seems to work yet.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Let me understand:
    - you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
    - downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
    - canon is connected to that PC via USB
    - that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
    - now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering.

  • How can I get iMac to recognize Canon Pixma mp990 printer wirelessly?

Although my Canon Pixma MP990 printer/scanner shows I've properly set it up for wifi, and the blue wifi light illuminates on the printer, my iMac now refuses to recognize that my printer is connected. Imac now shows the printer as offline.  When the printer was set up for corded/wired connection, the Imac worked fine with it. How can I get iMac to recognize the wireless printer setup? Thanks!

    Hi ..
    Then click  Wireless Help
Make sure the printer is recognized in System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
If not, download and install the drivers designated for the mp990 model.
In the System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print window, click + (plus) to add the printer.

  • Canon Pixma MP970 Printer - Need Help Installing on 10.9.3!

I have a Canon Pixma MP970 printer that I cannot get to work on my MacBook Pro running OS 10.9.3! I had no issue running it on the initial release of OS 10.9, but now it is making me pull my hair out!
I recently wiped my ssd and reinstalled OS X from the recovery partition and this is when I began encountering the issue. I went to the Canon website and there are no drivers provided because it says they are already contained in OS 10.9 (and the Canon website already detects my OS). I have plugged the printer into my MacBook Pro using a USB cable and running software update (to make sure any drivers are downloaded) and there is no download. I have tried entering the printer IP address manually and still nothing.
I am out of options unless a kind soul on these forums can light the path for me. Is it possible this printer is no longer supported after an incremental OS update?
    Printer: Canon Pixma MP970
Connection: Home network, wired LAN to router (printer itself already configured for network, and was working before ssd wipe)

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

    Hi
I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?

    Do the following:
Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
Let the printer manage colors, not PSE
    Calibrate the monitor

  • How can I add Canon Easy Web Print EX to the toolbar?

I just purchased a Canon Pixma Mx922 printer and i upgraded to windows 7. Today I re-installed Firefox. Is there any way to add the Canon Easy Web Print EX to the Firefox toolbar? I didn't see that option in the add-ons I could add.
    Thank you.

It looks like Canon Easy WebPrint EX doesn't support Firefox - only Windows Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0 32-bit.

  • Best Storage Practice for Canon PIXMA MG5420 Printer?

    Hello,
My Canon PIXMA MG5420 Printer will be inactive for several weeks. What is the recommended best practice for preventing the ink cartridges and printhead from drying out and clogging due to inactivity?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Hello BSquared18,
The printer can be stored with the ink tanks and print head installed, make sure the printer is powered off properly so that the print head is capped. If you have print quality issue once the printer is out of storage, follow the steps listed HERE to perform a print head cleaning.

  • Help getting Canon PIXMA MG2520 Printer to Print Wirelessly

I just got my Canon PIXMA MG2520 printer set up.  Everything worked perfectly.  I downloaded the drive and plugged it in and it worked.  However, I cannot get it to print wirelessly.  With my last printer there was a simple step to get the printer to do this.  Something I checked or unchecked, but I can't remember what that was.  Can someone help please?  Thanks.

Do you have your printer setup in its setup panel to connect to your WiFi network?
When you say you plugged it in and it worked, are you saying you used a USB cable to try it?
If the printer is setup to connect to your WiFi network, you may only need to power off your router, wait a few seconds and power it back on for your printer to be seen on the network.

  • I have a Canon Pixma i4700 printer and since buying my iMac I'm finding it difficult to print photographs without a severe warm (red) tone.

I have a Canon Pixma i4700 printer and since buying my iMac I'm finding it difficult to print photographs without a severe warm (red) tone.
    What am I doing wrong?

I can't give you detailed instructions, but there should be a way to print a built-in test page. If the color is off on that, the printer has an internal problem such as a clogged head.
