  • Adobe Flash Player Installer freezes

Hi, im trying to download the newest version of Adobe flash and the installer keeps freezing. my browser is Firefox but its the newest version of it and iv tried other browsers and nothing changes. this is a brand new PC that i just got yesterday so i don't know what could possibly be wrong. every time i start the download it downloads like normal then im asked to run the program, and before i click yes i close out all windows and anything that's running in the background. then i click run and the gray box pops up for the installer but nothing happens. its just a gray box. i don't see a progress bar or anything. then i have to open up task manager because the installer is not responding and close out the program from there. i don't understand what could possibly be wrong or what im doing is wrong. iv even tried the standalone uninstaller and it still wont install. im running windows 7 home professional. if someone could please help id be grateful. thank you

Actually they are here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_text_4
That takes you to the windows-specific help page. I was attempting to point out that at the bottom of the Flash Player Help page were links to the various OS-specific help pages, each of which has a link to the appropriate OS-specific alternative installer. I guess I should have been clearer.

  • I can't reinstall flash player - why?

Flash player has been working perfectly OK on my Macbook pro.  Suddenly several weeks ago, it stopped working.  I cannot view programmes sent with emails.  So I tried to reinstall, but in vain.  At the end of installing flash player it asks for my password.  I have been using this mac without password from the beginning.  And yet why did it ask for it now?  What can I do?  Did Adobe change anything?  Can anyone help?

O/p sent me a PM, asking what kind of password s/he needs to enter.
It is your Macbook's administrator password that you need to enter.  Sorry, I don't know much about Macs, so I cannot give you any further instructions.
But there are other Mac regulars here in the forum; please reply to this topic if you still need help, and someone will give you further instructions.

  • Adobe Flash Player Installer Freeze up.

My problem might be a little different then some of the others.  I have Windows 7/64 bit.  I also have Adobe Reader, Acrobat and PSE9 installed.  I have successfully updated flash player many times with the usual adobe pop up window.  Presently I have ver 10.3.183.5.  Yesterday I got the usual pop up window indicating a newer version (10.3.183.10 I assume).  When I clicked "Install Now" it latched up with the following window:
After waiting, I clicked the "X" and received no error.  My current version 10.3.183.5 is still working fine but no update occurred.  The only install log entry with a current date is:
    =O====== M/10.3.183.5 2011-09-28+15-05-16.627 ========
    0000 [I] 00000010 "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil10v_ActiveX.exe" -update activex
    =X====== M/10.3.183.5 2011-09-28+15-15-58.760 ========
I'm not sure what the best way to proceed is.  If you have a link to an downloadable installer, I can do that but if so, here are some questions:
    1)  Should I just run the installer or should I 1st uninstall 10.3.183.5 via "uninstall programs" ??
    2)  Should I turn off my virus (MSE) first?
    3)  Should I turn off the windows firewall first?
    4)  Should I run the installer from a clean boot??
    Help will be appreciated.

I'd recommend trying the following steps:
    1. Download the stand alone uninstaller
    2. Close all your browser windows
    3. Run the uninstaller
    4. Restart your computer
    5. Delete the following folder, depending on your operating system type:
    Windows 32bit - c:\Windows\system32\macromed
    Windows 64bit - c:\windows\syswow64\macromed
    6. Download and install Flash Player located here:
    Flash Player for Internet Explorer
    Flash Player for other browsers

  • Cannot install Flash Player-Installer freezes

    Running OS 10.10.2
Was unable to update, so followed instructions and uninstalled entire Flash app. Have downloaded update 3 times. Installer freezes during download/install process at 25% and does not continue.
Now I have no Flash and am unable to install.
Forum shows several other users with same problem; none of their posts have been answered.

joseywales41's solution worked for me (Please try the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the 'Still having problems' section.)
Everything is back to normal now.  Thanks!

  • Can I prevent flash player installer dialog on non-administrative users?

User emailed the help desk today and it says "Adobe Flash Player 11.9 Installer".
    "The installation encountered errors:
You must have administrative privileges to install Adobe Flash Player.  Please log on with administrative privileges and try again".  They clicked Quit, the only button, but they asked what should they do if they encounter this again?
What can we do so regular users out in our field (150 or so) are never bothered with this nasty message?  She stated this appeared after she logged into her computer.
We are getting out of the practice of running end users as Local Administrators.  While it is quite a painful transition, the added security benefits outweigh the additional work required for us to support such a fundamental change in our environment.

    Hi Keith,
It appears your user received a notification to update the outdated version of Flash Player.  Since you're users are non-Admin and Admin permissions are required to install, I recommend disabling notification auto-updates on the system and managing updates to your users via some other method.  To disable auto-updates, edit the mms.cfg file as follows:
    AutoUpdateDisable=1
    The file is located at:
    Win 32-bit: \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
    Win 64-bit: \Windows\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash
    OS X: /Library/Application Support/Macromedia
Note that disabling updates in this manner also disables background updates, if you have opted into background updates.  The Adobe Flash Player Administration Guide for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection contains several strategies for deploying and updating Flash Player outside of notification auto-updates.
11.9 is quite old and is not being updated with security releases, leaving your users vulnerable to security threats.  Unless there's a compelling reason to keep your users on 11.9, I highly recommend updating Flash Player to either the latest release (currently version 16) which receives regular feature updates, bug fixes, and security fixes; or the Extended Support Release (currently version 13) which receives only regular security updates, no feature updates or bug fixes.

  • I can't reinstall Flash player OR uninstall it.

I have a Windows 8 laptop and I use Mozilla Firefox to access the internet.  I keep getting a message saying " Adobe Flash Player has crashed".  I am unable to send a report for some reason.  I updated Flash, thinking that is the problem but I still keep getting the same message.  So out of desperation, I tried to uninstall it and was only able to uninstall Flash Reader (when I tried to uninstall Flash Player, I keep getting a message saying that I need to close Mozilla) I close Mozilla and STILL says I need to close it and wont let me update OR uninstall it.  I am getting very frustrated. I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,
Before Uninstalling, Can you please ensure no Firefox process is running in the back-end.
    1) Open Task Manager
    2) Find Firefox Process, and End the Process and Try Uninstalling Flash Player again.
This happens sometimes, you have your application closed yet an instance of the same process keeps running in the back-end but is not visible on the UI.
    Hope this Helps.

hello , when i try to install flash player on my MAC ( 10.9.4)  , the downloading process disappear immediately after starting , it shortly show the 0 percent then disappear so i can't install flash player.
What could i do to fix this ?

    1. Restart your computer to stop any Adobe process that may be running.
    2. The Adobe link below may help with the install:

Go to the bottom of the page where it says, "Still having problems" and click on the correct link for your browser.
If this works, Bookmark or save the link in case you need it in the future.

  • Can't install Flash Player 11.8; also crashes in Google Chrome

    Hello!
I'm trying to update to Flash Player 11.8 within Google Chrome, but am unable to. I know Chrome automatically updates its internal version of Flash, but this didn't happen with the latest version. I have tried disabling the internal version and installing the external application, but it doesn't work. I can download the program just fine. When I go to install it, I click Run and nothing happens. Also, the installer file disappears from my downloads folder after I click Run.
Also, when I try to run anything having to do with Flash in Chrome, the plugin crashes. I have tried many of your suggestions (enabling the NPAPI version and disabling the PPAPI version, uninstalling the whole program, disabling Trend Micro Internet Security 2012, disabling SuperANTISpyware, along with reinstalling (which also crashes as described above)). This only happens on one laptop and I know the settings between my two laptops are the same. I'm also getting a message about having to log into Windows as an Administrator even though I've already done so.
Specs for the laptop with issues:
    Late 2011 Macbook Pro
    15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy display (1440 x 900)
AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory
    Automatic graphics switching
Full-size backlit keyboard with 78 (U.S.) keys, including 12 function keys and 4 arrow keys (inverted “T” arrangement)
Multi-Touch trackpad for precise cursor control; supports inertial scrolling, pinch, rotate, swipe, three-finger swipe, four-finger swipe, tap, double-tap, and drag capabilities
    2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 6MB shared L3 cache
    8GB (two 4GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3 memory
750GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive (split into two partitions of 375GB each)
OS X Mountain Lion and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 (installed via Bootcamp)
    Google Chrome 28.0.1500.72
The version of Flash Player installed on here is 11.8.800.97 (PPAPI). I current have this disabled.
I'm not sure how to fix this issue as the internal Flash installation for Chrome was stuck at 11.7 and would not update. I would really love to get this to update and work properly as I'm tired of seeing the "new version of Flash Player available for install" popup when I boot up the computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

That link tells how to keep your bookmarks and passwords when reinstalling. I'd say save them per the instructions, uninstall Chrome altogether, and redownload it. It should have the updated version of Flash in it. If not, download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking the following link.
