I'm no Lion expert, but I believe you can boot from the Recovery partition by pressing the Command and R keys on startup, then reinstall.

Reformat and reinstall osx lion from internet

Not sure how this works. i have purchased a used macbook pro 13" i7 8gb ram 750 hd. The last guy reformatted the drive in a way that will not let mavericks install. It stated the drive needs to be guid. i have tried many times to attempt this and I still get same message and the disk utility will not let me change anythign about the drive.
I have installed the firmware update that will allow the coputer to get the osX from a broadband connection.
I am wondering if this will refomat the drive so i can put Mavericks onthe computer? If so what are the exact steps to accomplish this?

That's OK. You need to repartition the drive anyway because you cannot install anything on it until you remove what had been installed including the Recovery HD partition.
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should install the version of OS X that was pre-installed from the factory.

Try opening the Terminal utility in your system and running the following command to open the system's caches folder:
open $TMPDIR../C
Then locate and remove the folder called "com.apple.appstore" and then try relaunching the App Store and downloading the installer again.

If I understand correctly you want all 6 devices to have access to a single calendar that each device gets notifications for and can edit. You can do that with an private iCloud shared calendar. First sign into www.icloud.com and use these steps from the following article to share a calendar:
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note: You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.

You should not have erased anything. Maverick uses some of the applications from the older software and now that you have erased part of the Operating System you are going to need the Original Install disc's that came with your machine. Hold down the C key while installing then do all of the Software updates then you can install Maverick.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".

After having some kernel panics, I tried to reinstall OSX lion.
Tried everything - from recovery, internet download, after creating an install disc, you name it, install keeps failing.
Didn't work even after erasing/ reformatting my HD.
Do I have a hardware issue? Disc utility claims HD is OK...
Even found a method to reinstall Snow Leopard, but that failed too. I have run out of ideas.

Then you have some type of hardware problem. More then likely the drive is failing, Failed.
Since it is a 2009 iMac that is now 3+/- years old then I'd say it is the drive.
One test is to connect an external drive to the system and start the install of any version of OS X and point it to the external. If the install works and you can boot from the external then the internal drive is the problem.

How to stop a process from running and display a message

I have a button that inserts data into a table based on bind variable selected on the page. I would like to add code to that button that will check to see if certain data already exists in the table, for that bind variable, and if that data already exists, stop the process and display a message that says "you have already inserted that information - bla bla bla". If not, continue inserting. What would be the best way to do this?
Currently, the button is a plsql that inserts the data.
Any help or examples would be greatly appreciated!

Use a validation process for that. If the validation fails (data exists) the processes will not be run. If it doesn't then the processing will continue.

Can't Reinstall OSX Lion on a new HD on my Mac Pro????

I have a Mac Pro Desktop that i bough on ebay and just got a new HD500Gb so I want to use the 500GB HD as my primary HD and use my current 320GB as my secondary. I did the boot sequence by holdin the opt/alt key at start up picked recovery option went to disk utilities wiped it clean got out of DU and got to the instal page with Lion on front chose the hard drive I wanted to install it to which was my New 500GB HD and it asked to be signed in to appstore to validate apple id signed in it let me agree to terms then when I went to download and install it it said that my apple id did not purchase the a copy of OSX Lion( ah duh ) because I am not original owner,it says that i have to use the apple id that was used to purchase OSX Lion originaly? there is my problem How dow I find out who was the original person who download it in the first place? yes I got it clean fresh install NO problem but now I want to switch hard drives and cant do it!!!
if I recall right OSX Lion didnt come with any Disks so that option is gone,and I am not the original owner that bought the installed copy of OSX Lion that instaled on here now.
So is there any way to find out that info of the original owner and thier apple id or
bypass it cause with out it I cant do Squat!!!!

It does indeed take 1 to 3 days, because a person has to intervene and send you a couple of emails with redemption codes that you will enter to get access to the download.
Once you have downloaded Lion, your Apple-ID "Purchases" page will evermore show Lion as Purchased and re-downloadable, like this one:

Software Update won't take you beyond 10.6.8 which is the highest incremental update for Snow Leopard. The fact that it won't let you upgrade to Mavericks suggests that your Mac is not compatible.
You should start by checking that your Mac can handle Lion, for which the requirements are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
The original early 2006 MacBooks have only a Core Duo processor and so are not compatible, but the models from late 2006 on have a Core 2 Duo and so should be.
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). You will get a code which you can use to download it from the Mac App Store.

Is the message saying:
Not enough storage
Not enough/low memory?
For the former delete some items from the iPod.
For the latter.double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory.
