Can't remember the command - used to clean up once a month
I read it watching a Lynda . com review and he said for mac, (I think it was either Shake or Photshop?) that once a month he holds a buttong down in mac during bootup until right before the bootup sound, or lets go right after. Its supposed to reset something, reindex, etc, etc, and get the system in tip top shape and nice and zippy.
Does it work and what is the "key"?
Thanks
I think you are asking how to decrease boot time, not increase it, right?
Login Items can be found in System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items tab. Do not remove login items without knowing what they are for, since some are necessary for normal operation of certain applications.
A faster drive will decrease boot time, but not by as much as you might think, probably no more than 10% or so. Since they typically use more power & that reduces battery run time, you will have to decide if the few seconds saved at startup is worth it.
Your owner's manual should have a section explaining how to replace the hard drive if yours is one of the laptops that makes it easy to swap out.

I recently had to do a factory restore on my iphone 4s. Upon trying to set up my phone again I am being asked to sign into my icloud account. I can't remember the password or the email I used to set it up. I know my Apple ID, password and email for that account, but that doesn't allow me to get back into my phone. I can't reset the icloud password because I can't remember the email I used. Any ideas on what I can do please ?
Hi, Fugalltadowivu.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like Activation Lock has been enabled on this device. Here is some helpful information regarding this feature.

If you purchased your device from a third party, this device may be locked to their Apple ID. If this is the case you may want to check out the article below.

How can I recover an old/disused iCloud account. I was having some issues with my apple id so I restored my iPad, I am now stuck on the activation screen as I no longer use the iCloud account i used to set up the iPad and can't remember the address or pas
I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option? -
So basically I need to confirm my identity but I can't because I can't remember the answers to my security questions. I scheduled a meeting with Apple, to see if they can fix it. Nod I would just reset them from my rescue email, but I don't know what that email is and it's also no longer in use.
Do you know of any way to fix this? You won't be able to change your rescue email address until you can answer your questions, you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down this page to update your rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 -

I have an Itel based iMac on which I created a Wifi network using Airport. My iPhone5 uses the Wifi on my iMac and still works. My problem is that I can't remember the Wifi password and it is not in my Keychain. What can I do so that I can connect other devices to my Wifi?
Read the router's user manual on how to change your password.
If you are going to select another password, make sure it's one that you will NEVER forget AND no one else can figure it out. Print it out & keep in a safe place. A place that ONLY you know about AND never forget. -

Hello, i can't remember the answers to my security questions. Itunes gives me an option to resend answers to my old email which i don't remember as welll.somehow system doesn't give me my primary email which i usually use..so how can i solve this issue?
Hello Arnas333
You would need access to that account in order to reset the questions. If you do not have access to it, then you will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to resolve the issue.

I want to change the email address used as rescue email for my security questions. But I can't remember the answers to the security questions and I dont have access to the rescue email anymore. Please help.
-If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com. Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE: This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
-If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address. Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466 (If you are in the US), and ask for account security. You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.
-If you are not in the US, click http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 - Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security

TS1368 I can't remember the questions to use a new computer ?
I can't remember the questions to use a new computer ?
If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551 -

I haven't used my ipod in a while and can't remember the password. What should I do?
I can't remember the password, what should I do?
Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

I upgraded to an iPad2 and recently pulled out my old iPad 1 to re-gift to a family member. I can't remember the password I originally set up - is there a way to get beyond this? Each time I try a different password (trying any that I thought I might have originally used) it times out the tablet for up to an hour before I can try again. Help?
You can restore the device. That is what you have to do if you forget the passcode. You don't have to worry about syncing to your own computer either since you don't want to restore your data - you want to wipe it clean. Read these articles for more instructions

Updating or Restoring
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Sometimes you may not be able to bypass the passcode at all when you try to restore. You may need to restore by putting the iPad into recovery mode. I have heard from some users that they did not have to do this when they restore after forgetting the passcode - but just in case you need the information, this will help you with that procedure.
