Can't remove a definition from my desktop

While using Spotlight to find something, I typed in the word "narrative" and got many hits, among them a definition of the word in a box that has remained on my desktop no matter how hard I try to delete it. Can't click on it, can't move it, and it interferes with anything else I'm trying to do.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
If you plug "delete files" into the search box at Version Tracker, you'll get a veritable embaressment of utilities to delete stubborn files. I can't ecommend any firsthand as I'd personally use the Terminal, but look over the choices (especially user feedback ratings).
Do first make sure the file isn't actually in use or is something essential, through! What kind of file is it? Does it have a filename extensions (such as .dmg or .sit)? Was the file from an aborted download, a normal download, or created on your computer? You can always post as complete a description as you care to divulge about the file and ask if anyone can positively ID it OK to delete or something to keep.

I was unsuccessful in installing a particular program, so I thought I would just "wipe the slate clean" and try again. Unfortunately, the icon on my desktop doesn't want to go. Every time I try to move it into the TRASH, a note on the screen says, "The icon "iScrobbler" cannot be moved to the trash because it is open".

There can be many reasons why a file "doesn't want"
something. But you may be able to replace the file if
you can rename it. Follow the steps here:

root user privileges. That's a very advanced and
risky method so you should consult with someone who
is experienced with that process. I have done it many
times to delete goofed files that have a mind of

It didn't work, I'm sorry to say, but thanks for the idea. As to the "root user privileges" method, I wouldn't even consider it. My computer "skills" are definitely not at the level for trying anything that could be described in those terms. Still, there is hope. I found the creator of the program and sent him an e-mail message this morning.
Finally, I'd like to thank you again for your extraordinary performance. Talk about "service above and beyond.." well, that certainly describes you. I somehow feel that if you couldn't...no, no, let's not say that, let's just hope that the program's creator will be able to help. Thanks again for what you have done.

I would like to inform that you can install and activate Creative Cloud desktop applications on two computers, regardless of operating system, for the individual associated with the Creative Cloud membership.
If you've already installed Creative Cloud on 2 machines then you need to deactive it from one of the machine.
To deactivate, you can click on the product and then go to Help> Deactivate.

If you want to remove a credit/debit card from your account then on your computer's iTunes you should be able to edit your payment info by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should be a payment link. If you are doing it on your iOS device then tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account - that should also give you a payments link on your account's page.

What a co-incidence... I just deleted those same goodies. They were in /Library/Application Support/Keynote-folder on my machine. I just deleted the whole folder, cause there seemed to be nothing more but those downloaded files. And Keynote worked great afterwards. There seemed to be another folder for iWork09, which is not to be removed.

If you enabled Find my iPhone then you should use that. If not, I'm afraid you're out of luck for finding it.
To manage your devices, go to Your Account in iTunes.

I merged my dad's iphone to my Apple ID a while back because he wants to buy an app and I have some credit left over so I let him used my ID on his device. Apparently, all my contacts, pictures from photo stream, and ical are now also in his device. And all his contacts, pictures, and ical are on mines. How can I remove his device from my icloud and Apple ID WITHOUT deleting anything? Like I just don't want him to get anymore of my reminders and contacts, and pictures? Because I'm afraid taht if I remove his iphone on my icloud, all the pictures/contacts/ical that he took and went to my device too will be deleted because those are some important pictures/contacts/ical?
I tried to manually delete some of my dad's contacts that was shared on my phone, it turns out that it got deleted on his phone as well and vice versa. How can I just completely cut him off of my icloud and ID without losing any of my and his contacts/pics/etc?
