Can't remove a keyboard shortcut

When I press option-F14 I get Displays System Preference. I don't know why. And I don't want it.
It's even more powerful than QuicKeys!
I'd like to remove this feature, so I'm trying to figure out which application may cause this behavior.
Up to now, I can exclude: Keyboard Shortcut System Preference, QuicKeys, Butler, You Control, LaunchBar, Quicksilver, PathFinder .,..
Or is this a hidden feature of Mac OS X that can't be removed?

STry going to system preferences>dashboard $ expose. You can set preferences for that key there.

  • Cannot remove custom keyboard shortcut

    Hi Folks,
Somehow I managed to make my right SHIFT key a shortcut to my desktop (does not use a modifier key). I can't recall how i did this, but it is not in my Keyboard Shortcuts (i have gone through them all, restored to defaults, removed them... nothing worked.)
    Using Mavericks.
Any ideas how i might remove this keyboard shortcut?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Can I create a keyboard shortcut to go to start and/or end of work area?

    Just as in the title....
Can I create a keyboard shortcut to take the CTI to the beginning or end of the work area in the Timeline panel?
Also, can I remap the keyboard shortcut (~) that maximises the current panel?
I can't find the answers to either of these questions in the help....
    Cheers

Can I create a keyboard shortcut to take the CTI to the beginning or end of the work area in the Timeline panel?
    No.
Also, can I remap the keyboard shortcut (~) that maximises the current panel?
In CS5, it's under Application and called "Maximize or Restore Frame." In CS5.5 it's also under Application, but you have two choices: "Maximize or Restore Active Frame" and "Maximize or Restore Frame Under Cursor." The latter is how CS5 works; the former is a new addition, and will only maximize/restore whatever frame is currently outlined in yellow, e.g. active.

  • Can't use the keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6 when updating Mavericks

Can't use the keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6 when updating Mavericks

Thanks everyone. What worked for me was a version of the suggestions above. I had the problem with the ≠ character appearing in all my Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcuts and rendering them largely unusable. However, I don't have any other keyboards besides US English enabled on my Mac. I do have Spell Catcher installed, which works through the keyboard input method. So, I switched from Spell Catcher back to English (with the US flag), launched Photoshop and presto, my keyboard shortcuts were restored, absent that obnoxious ≠ symbol. Once in Photoshop, if I reselect Spell Catcher, the ≠ symbol returns so I have to run Photoshop without the help of Spell Catcher - or forego the use of keyboard shortcuts while it's on. Since the developer of Spell Catcher passed away last year there will be no more updates to the otherwise very useful utility. Apparently this keyboard shortcut problem in the various guises reported here is linked to some element of the OS X input method in Mavericks, as Photoshop seems to manifest the issue in relation to one specific input source or another. This is the first application in my experience to have a problem with Spell Catcher in OS X 10.9. So I will continue to use it, except in Photoshop. Spell Catcher was never updated for Mountain Lion or Mavericks so people like me will have to use it "at our own risk" as the saying goes. Be that as it may, it does appear to be a bug in Photoshop that's at the root of this matter as different people have somewhat different problems with the OS X input method - not that I expect either Adobe or Apple to do anything about it.

  • Is there (or can I create) a keyboard shortcut for the command "export"?

is there (or can I create) a keyboard shortcut for the command "export"?

Keyboard Shortcuts are created in the System Preferences app, Hardware section, Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
Select Application Shortcuts on the left.
Click the "+" sign on the right and in the dialog box that pops up, enter: "Export..." and your preferred key combination. Here's an example:
Keep in mind that when you enter the name of the action in a layered menu, such as File > Export..., or Share > Export..., you are only going to enter the last menu choice, not the higher levels.

  • Can i control custom keyboard shortcuts in AE

For the love of god it is 2013 and I still can't control the keyboard shortcut commands in After Effects. Why is the command to duplicate different in photoshop and after effects? Doesn't adobes project managers work with each other? Or do the sections close their doors and do their own thing? The 3d space is different in every application they own. I just wish I had to learn something once and not in 3 different ways

Here's info on modifying keyboard shortcuts in After Effects.

  • Remove a Keyboard Shortcut

I want to remove the shortcut for "Impromptu Slideshow". Too many times have I unintenionally hit the Command + Return combo and started the process of creating a slideshow. It always happens when I am in a hurry and it hurts the most having to wait for this procedure to complete before I can exit the slideshow mode and continue with my work. I don't use slideshows at all, so this a not only a completely useless command but it also wastes my time and I just want it out.
I searched "Application Support" and also opened the program package, but couldn't find a file that contains the keyboard shortcuts. It has to be somewhere, though.
Lightroom 4 on Mac OS. Any help greatly appreciated.

For LR4 on win7 I removed the file Slideshow.lrmodule from the LR program folder. Impromptu slideshow and the slideshow module are gone, ctrl + enter has no effect.
Perhaps you can try this. I do not know the slideshow module filename and location on Mac OS.

  • I can no longer do keyboard shortcuts since latest update.

I am running Firefox 34.0.5 on a Windows 7 computer. Firefox updated the other day and I can no longer use my Edit keyboard shortcuts. (ie CTRL V etc) I read an article telling how to correct this with a Mac computer, how do you do it with a Windows computer?

Firefox 35 was released yesterday. Please use Help > About Firefox and run a Check for Updates to get the latest version. Then see if that issue is resolved.

  • How can I import my keyboard shortcuts from my iPhone to my new MACBOOK pro?

Now I'm guessing that 99% of you don't use this feature on iPhone or Macbook so I'm curous to know who knows the answer
I recruit a lot and have canned texts and emails (which means I usually say the same thing)
in my iPhone I set it up (by going to General, Keyboard, Shortcuts) to have when I type in a certain phrase, it types on something else. FOR EXAMPLE
"randq" would automatically turn into "Random Question, do you know anyone open to making more money?"
I have around 40 of these shortcuts and want to save myself the time manually entering them one by one into my macbook.
I know where these settings ARE but I'm wondering if there's a shorter way to do this?
(Settings are under Language and Text, TEXT"
If you are able to help, that would be awesome!

You may do better asking in the iPhone forms here:

  • How can I create a keyboard shortcut to export to pdf in Pages for Mac

Can anyone explain how to create a keyboard shortcut that works in pages?

Reluctant as I am to contradict Viking OS X, yes it is possible.
This is for Yosemite, it is slightly different in other versions of OS X.
Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts > + > Applications > Pages > Menu Title: PDF… > Keyboard Shortcut > hold down whatever combination you want > Add
As Viking says this won't choose Good, Better, Best but at least it gets you to that point. Unfortunately it always defaults to Good.
NB that PDF… has to be typed with ALL CAPS and the ellipsis is option ; or copy from here. It has to be literally what is in the menu.
You could make a more intelligent keyboard shortcut with 3rd party Apps like Spark [free] or QuicKeys or iKey or Shortcuts for Mac or Keyboard Maestro.

  • How can I make a keyboard shortcut for 'insert footnote' in Pages 09?

I do a lot of accademic work and it is incredibly frustrating not to have a shortcut for one of the most frequent tasks i perform in pages. Please can someone help me?

Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts Application Shortcuts > + > Application: Browse to Pages > Menu Title: Footnote > Keyboard Shortcut: hit combination of keys > Add
You will need to restart Pages but should then see it next to your Menu item.

  • Can I create a keyboard shortcut for changing text colors in Mail?

When composing an email in Mail (v5.2), I often have the need to change the text of a few words to red to highlight them (e.g. names of people assigned to an action item) but want to do it via keyboard shortcut.  I know I can do the following:
Press Command-Shift-C brings up to Colors panel
Choose the color (e.g. Red) with my mouse
    Type the text
Choose the color (e.g. back to Black) with my mouse
    Continue typing text
And that's if I want the color panel to stay visible (add at least 3 more steps all together if I close it in the interim).
I've tried using keyboard shortcuts to assign a color (couldn't find the right menu path) and Automator to create a script (the color panel always has to be in the right location which it may not be). None of those techniques work.
It's an annoyance more than anything else but I imagine it should be possible.
    Thanks for any assistance!
    John

Not only is this very possible, it's also very easy. You can do this not just for Quark but for any application in OS X. To accomplish what you want, do the following:
    * Firstly, quit QuarkXPress completely. The rest of the steps won't work if it is still running.
    * Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
    * Click the Keyboard & Mouse System Preference Pane
    * Click Keyboard Shortcuts
    * Click the + button to add a new shortcut.
    * Select QuarkXPress as the application.
    * In the Menu Title field type "Place Name" exactly like that but without the quotes.
    * Click inside the Shortcut field and type the key combination you want to use for this shortcut. I suggest using Command + one of the F keys, like Command+F1.
    * Click Add.
    * Close System Preferences
    * Run Quark, open a document, and try it out!

  • How can I map a keyboard shortcut to the reacord button in the Audio Mixer Panel?

I have been recording voiceovers in Premiere Pro CS5 for a while, but I would like to improve my work flow. Each time I record a take, I first press the record button (labeled as B below) with the mouse cursor and then press the Play button with the Spacebar keyboard shortcut. After I record the audio, I hit Stop and this toggles the record button off at the same time. I then must hit the record button again with the mouse to start the process over again.
Is there a way to map a keyboard shortcut to the record button in the audio panel so that I don't have to touch the mouse when recording voiceovers?

There is not currently a shortcut for this. That's a good feature request, though. You can submit feature requests here.

  • Where can I find advanced keyboard shortcuts?

The "Shift" + "Right Click" is a shortcut to the Tools pallete, which is not listed in LabVIEWS help. Are there more shortcuts like this that are not listed in LabVIEW? If so, where would they be documented?

The LabVIEW 7.0 Help contains a more complete list of keyboard shortcuts in LabVIEW. This same list also is located in the LabVIEW Quick Reference Card shipped with LabVIEW 7.0. If you don't have LabVIEW 7.0, you can access the card on our site: LabVIEW Quick Reference Card
I see that the Shift+right-click shortcut is not listed, so I'll make a note of that for us to add in a future release of LabVIEW. If you have feedback on content missing from the LabVIEW Help or manuals, you can send your feedback to us directly at [email protected]
