Can't remove known password (v11); no Protection option under Tools, no check boxes in Security tabs

Hello,
I am unable to remove a known password on a document (using version 11.0.3 currently, but also on older versions).  I have no "Protection" option under Tools and I see no "Remove Security" check boxes (or any check boxes) in the Security tabs.  Any help would be greatly appreciated...thank you!

That's the reason, but it isn't new. No version of Reader has ever been able to change security settings. I'm guessing you used to have a copy of Adobe Acrobat (which looks similar but can do more).

  • I can not see protection options under tools

    I only see options to convert to pdf, even though the document is already in pdf. I need to apply security but there are no options anywhere?

    No, Adobe Reader and Acrobat are two similar, but different programs.
    Reader can, as the name says, read/view PDF documents.
    Acrobat can modify PDF documents, including security options.
    See the title bar in the opened program for what you are actually using.

    @My adobe/ PDF documents are password protected. How can I remove the password?

    Hello,
    two answers I found in my library about removing or finding unknown password:
    Removing: "Not with any Adobe products, and other products are not discussed on these forums..."
    Open a file: "The only way to open a password protected file is to know the password (there's no way to get around that). Hopefully you know who created the PDF and can get the password from them."

  • How can I remove PDF password?

    Hi guys, recently I've got a really annoying problem at work. Some of my PDFs can not be copyed, edited or printed. I know that's because they're secured but how can I remove the password? Any idea to work out the problem?

    Hello,
    As there is no any C# solution ,I would like to psot some sample codes to achieve this.
    using Spire.Pdf;
    using Spire.Pdf.Security;
    namespace modify_PDF_passwords
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    //load a encrypted file and decrypt it
    String encryptedPdf = @"..\Encrypt.pdf";
    PdfDocument doc = new PdfDocument(encryptedPdf, "e-iceblue");
    //reset PDF passwords and set user password permission
    doc.Security.OwnerPassword = "Spire.PDF";
    doc.Security.UserPassword = "pdfcomponent";
    doc.Security.Permissions = PdfPermissionsFlags.Print | PdfPermissionsFlags.FillFields;
    //Save pdf file.
    doc.SaveToFile("Encryption.pdf");
    doc.Close();
    //Launching the Pdf file.
    System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("Encryption.pdf");
    Anyway ,it is a PDF component based solution,which works pretty fine for me.

    Hi Col!
    These are not so good news
    Im not a Satellite A350 owner but if you want to remove the password you should contact an ASP and ask for help. The notebook technicians are know how to remove the password and so I think they can help you at best.
    On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:

  • How can I remove the entire group "On My iPhone" under contact and notes?

    I am using iCloud to sync my contact and notes. It's pretty good right now since it can maintain a signle copy of each without duplicate entries.
    However, the outstanding issue is that I want to remove the entire group "On My iPhone" under contact and notes as a lot of duplicates inside there.
    How can I do that? Or de-duplicateing the entries there is also fine.  Thanks.

    I found a solution for this by using iCloud and iTunes. It is applicable to Mac users.
    For Contacts
    1. Make a source copy of contacts without any duplication in iCloud contact.
    2. Remove any groups in Address Book in your Mac, so that the number of contacts in iCloud is equal to that in All Contacts in Address Book.
    3. Launch iTunes. Connect your iOS device. Go to Summary tab. Mark "Back up to iCloud" button
    4. Go to Info tab, Click "Sync Address Book Contact" and then select "All contact"
    5. Check "Contacts" under "Replace information on this iPhone" at the bottom.
    6. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    Your iOS device will be replaced with the "Contacts" from Address Book with "On My Mac" group, which contains zero contacts records.
    7. Uncheck "Sync Address Book Contact" again. A dialog box appears, stating that iTunes will no longer sync contacts to your iOS device. Click "Remove contacts" button in the dialog box.
    8. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    9. After sync, you will get a "All on My iPhone" group on your iOS device with zero contacts, one All Contacts showing all contacts records, and the other is the "All iCloud" group containing the source copy from iCloud.
    For Notes
    1. Make sure you have a me.com account enabled in your iCloud for Mail & Notes sync
    2. Using Mail, you can move and de-duplicate the notes and make a final copy in the Notes under iCloud. Clear all notes records under other sources. e.g. On My Mac, Gmail, etc.
    3. Launch iTunes. Connect your iOS device. Go to Summary tab. Mark "Back up to iCloud" button
    4. Go to Info tab, Click "Sync notes" under Other section
    5. Check "Contacts" under "Replace information on this iPhone" at the bottom.
    6. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    Your iOS device will be replaced with the "notes" from Mac with "On My Mac" group, which contains zero notes records.
    7. Uncheck "Sync notes" again. A dialog box appears, stating that iTunes will no longer sync notes to your iOS device. Click "Remove notes" button in the dialog box.
    8. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    9. After sync, you will no longer get any accounts in Notes. The only copy of Notes is from iCloud.

  • Can't remove old password

    My daughter just recently purchased a Curve 8130 off ebay.  Everything works great except the pervious owners email password in locking my daughter out from changing it to her own password.  Her carrier is Sprint, and they said there is no way to remove someone else password. I have contacted Ebay and they have no idea how to get in touch with the pervious owner. Is there a way to remove it so she can access her email? Thanks

    1. I think you failed to read this:  http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Welcome-Introductions/Do-not-post-questions-in-this-section/t...
    2. Let me clarify, you want to add your daughter's own email account to the device, but it currently still receives the email of the previous owner?
    Or, on the Sprint BlackBerry Internet Service login, the old owners password is there and you don't know THAT password?
    Or, the device self-locks the screen and you need to enter a security password to use the device?
    So, please explain more specifically  what it is you need to change the password on.

  • Can't remove saved passwords from Safari

    Using 10.10.1, Safari 8.0, upgrade from Snow Leopard.
    When I try to Remove one or all passwords in Safari's Passwords prefpane, nothing happens. How do I fix this?
    In a possibly related issue, when I try to delete the X509Anchors keychain file in Keychain Access, nothing also happens.

    Back up all data before proceeding.
    This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
    Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
    You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
    Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
    Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    resetp
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
    Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Can't remove HDD password

    A friend's teenage daughter bought a refurb t61, XP.
    The friend asked me to help with some software problems, probably viruses.
    The computer had a boot password, the daughter could sign on with the finger print reader, but did not know the password to key in so I had her sign in with her finger and we thought we turned off the boot password with the software but after a shut down and start up, it asked for a password at boot and no longer recognized her finger.
    I removed the cmos battery to remove the boot password but is now asking for a hard drive password, which she also doesn't know.
    How do we remove or circumvent the HD password so we can set up the computer with passwords she knows, and I can clean up the software problems, or how can we reactivate the finger sign on so we can get in that way?
    thanx

    Welcome to the forum!
    By removing the CMOS battery you've activated the Supervisor password.
    It is against forum rules to discuss the circumvention of security systems, passwords included.
    I will say this much: remove the hard drive and boot the machine up. If you're still getting the password prompt, that's a full Supervisor password. The official remedy calls for a motherboard replacement.
    If you don't get the password prompt, just replace the hard disk drive and move on.
    Good luck.
    Cheers,
    George

  • How can I remove wireless passwords from my iPhone 4?

    I have an iPhone 4 and need to remove a couple of the cached (remembered) passwords from the iPhone memory. In other words, I would like to get to the point where the phone asks me for the network password instead of using the one saved to the phone. Is there a way to do this?

    The only possible way is to reset your network settings by going to settings-general-reset and then tap on reset network settings. iPhone will then restart and you will lose all previously saved wifi networks, this also helps if you're having network issues.
