Can't remove locked VPN Connections installed by HotSpot Shield

How can I remove locked VPN connections under Network? (OS 10.9.5)
HotSpot Shield installed three VPN connections under Network settings. I no longer subscribe to the service and have removed the application, but I'm unable to remove the network connections.
Three VPN connections were created:
"US Server"   utahmaps.us
"GB Server"   jacketmagazine.us
"JP Server"    brainphotos.us
However, all these connections have the padlocked icon beside them, and I don't have the permissions to delete them.
I'm including a screen capture of one of the settings, for reference.
I can set them to inactive, but would like to remove them altogether.
Can anyone offer any assistance?
Thanks

I have been looking for this answer also... I found it yesterday. if you go to profiles in system preferences, you will be able to delete those completely.

  • How can i test my vpn connection?

so recently i decided to test if ver 1.3.0.3 of the quickvpn client would work better with the 1.3.0.5 rvs4000 firmware. i loaded quickvpn to an xp pro computer (freshly built, i might add) and got to work. in order to test the connection, i attempted to piggy back off an unsecured wireless network. this network is on the same ISP network as i am.
i use dynamic DNS, and the unsecured wireless network could resolve my IP correctly, but for some reason i couldnt connect to my home network from the unsecured network. my router is set to respond to lan requests, but i couldnt ping it. my router passes HTTP traffic to a computer in my network, but i couldnt bring up the webpage. finally, my router responds with the router config page over port 443, and i couldnt bring that up.
so i used my ISP's dialup service to test. initially, as always, i had a million problems with the vpn client. systematically, i tried to resolve the issues. i installed the patch in the readme for quickvpn. i checked log files to see where stuff was failing. eventually, i could connect to the VPN, but would get that "remote gateway is not responding" crap. i know of a (poor) workaround for this which allows you to "finalize" the connection, but that workaround doesnt allow you to ping around in your network. sometime later, after randomly messing with settings, the tunnel would connect without the workaround. i have no idea what "fixed" this.
despite all this, my 28.8Kbps connection wouldnt allow me to do anything meaningful on my network. i couldnt connect to the router or to a server of mine (http or fileshare). the only thing i could do was ping internal devices. other requests seemed to "hang" rather than timeout or do anything more concrete. basically, i gave up on testing using dialup, even though my router and the client software confirm a good connection. but i still wasnt convinced.
next, i figured i could create some type of "DMZ" on my network by placing a switch between my ISP's modem and my router. im not a cisco network professional by any means, but im pretty familiar with networking on a above-average level. that said, despite my best, i couldnt get my quickvpn computer to see my router from the "DMZ".
finally, i figured i could just test the tunnel while directly connected to my network's lan. bad idea. everything seems to go okay until it locks up on "activating policy". rebooting or otherwise ending the negotiation ends in the computer being unable to do anything anymore. when i try to ping anything, i get "negotiating ip security" ad infinitum. the only way i could fix this was by doing a system restore.
so here's the question: how can i test my quickvpn connection?why can't i just tunnel through my network? and before you scream that you can't, thegreenbow vpn client has NO PROBLEM connecting to my rvs4000 while connected to my own network.

    Hi Aaron,
I am going exactly the same thing as you however, I had my cousin buy and install a RVS4000 at his house in Australia.
I access it from the USA so that I can help manage his Local Area Network, he is just not technical..
I setup a DDNS client on his RVS4000 so that I can always get to his Router via a domain name rather than a IP address.
I noticed that you didn't mention anything regarding importing client certificate into the directory of the VPN client on your PC.
I also noticed I disabled IPSec passthrough on the router in Australia, see the pictures below, not sure why, but the VPN client is working.
I also did not setup any gateway to gateway VPN tunnels, Only added a client , exported certificate as per the manual, See the last screen capture below.
You will also note if you view the screen captures that my cousins RVS4000 has not been upgraded to the new code.Is there a reason for that...not really...he's just a user, not really technical.  Also note I have not added any VPN tunnels on my RVS4000.
I have a reasonably reliable connection between the USA and Australia. I didn;t have to play with any other options, just add users to the VPN client database.
    Your description of the working environment of your PC is missing details on the version of XP, so i will mention the following taken from the software release notes of the RVS4000 ;
There is a known issue with Windows XP SP2 Firewall.
ICMP packets are always dropped by the firewall when the firewall is enabled.
This issue causes the QuickVPN client to be unable to establish a tunnel with the remote QuickVPN server successfully.
Microsoft has released a patch to fix this issue, which you can get from:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889527/en-us
After you install the patch, the issue should be resolved. You can also fix this issue by upgrading Windows XP to SP3.
You cannot plug a PC on the same network as the router for testing, they must be on dissimilar WAN  networks for testing purposes.
Your remote  PC VPN client will not be allocated a IP address in the RVS4000's network, hosts behind the RVS4000 will still respond to pings, as they direct the responses to their default gateway, the RVS4000.
The thegreenbow VPN client is a distracter at this point costing 50 something EURO  for a license, lets try to get the quickVPN client working !
    So, if you still wish try the following, firstly make sure your XP has been upgraded to  SP3;
    1.  If you upgraded your router to the new version of code, then reset your router to factory defaults to re-initialize your router, yes start again.
    2.  Export the VPN client certificate to the directory that contains the VPN client.  In my case it is;
               "C:\Program Files\Cisco Small Business\QuickVPN Client"
    3.  add a VPN client account to the router
    4.  Use port 60443 from the quickVPN client. and try  VPNing to the router.
5  hmmm, if the client still fails try disabling IPSec Passthrough on the router for grins and giggles.
    If this fails, call the SBSC at the following location for resolution;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html
    good luck ...regards Dave

  • Can't setup correctly VPN connection with certificate

First of all: the VPN connection to a Windows server I'm trying to setup in Mac OS X works perfectly with a Windows XP client.
The VPN is of L2TP over IPSEC type and uses a certificate for computer authentication. I've tried to setup the connection on my mac importing the certificate on Keychain and marking the certificate as trusted for every use. I've set up the VPN in System preferences - Network creating a new VPN connection and filling: server address, account name, password for user authentication and selecting the certificate for computer authentication in the "Authentication settings" section. Then I've clicked Apply.
Then, when I click Connect the mac answers with a message something like this (I'm going to translate from the italian message), titled "Internet connection": "The IPSec shared secret is missing. Verify settings and retry.".
So, what's happened? Why mac says me that the "shared secret is missing" while I've never set up that option but instead I've selected the "Certificate" radio button in "Computer authentication" section of "Authentication settings" and correctly selected the imported certificate? The strange thing is that verifying what I've set up in the VPN configuration I've found that the active radio button in "Authentication settings" was the one corresponding to "Shared secret", not the one of "Certificate". It seems that when clicking on Apply the mac doesn't stores the certificate choice but resets the choice to "Shared secret".
Anyone has some suggestions to resolve my problem?
    Thank you

to run IKEv2 you need the following EKUs on both server and client certificates. The machines select certificates automatically, the best option is the a), if not present, they proceed to the next b) and c):
    a)IPSec IKE
    Intermediate (IPSec Protection)
    1.3.6.1.5.5.8.2.2 + Server Authentication +
    Client Authentication
    b)IPSec IKE Intermediate +
    Client Authentication
    c)Client Authentication
As you may see, both client and server require Client Authentication EKU in the certificate. If you include Server Authentication and IKE Intermediate, you will get more exact match.
    ondrej.
    Hi ondrej,
Thanks for the reply. I've reissued the certificate with the Client Authentication EKU, but it hasn't made any difference.
Please note that I'm not using machine certificates on the client for authentication - I want to use Secure Password (EAP-MSCHAPv2), which is working when I connect through SSTP. However, the server seems to be determined to use certificates for client authentication
    - when I log using wfp, in the wfpdiag.xml file I can see that the authentication method listed is <mmAuthMethod>IKEEXT_CERTIFICATE</mmAuthMethod>. As I understand it, this should not be the case.
How can I get the server to accept EAP-MSCHAPv2 authentication?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Remove old VPN profiles installed via Config Utility?

I've got an iPhone 4S running iOS 6. It has two VPN profiles that were created via Configuration Utility profiles. These two VPN profiles are no longer used, but I can't seem to find a way to remove them.
In Settings -> VPN, if you tap the blue arrow next to the profiles themselves, the only option available is the "Connec On Demand" On/Off switch. There is no "Delete VPN" button.
In Settings -> General -> Profiles, nothing is listed for me to remove.
How can I delete these two unused profiles?

    Having same problems.
There is no such setting as "Profile" in General, but the old profile is invisible. The Cisco AnyConnect app says there is no profile either.
This "invisible" profile was installed on my old 3GS in order to block data transfer using 3G etc. Since the new iOS updates and then iPhone 5 update the option "Profile" in setting has dissapeared.
But it's still somewhere and it's still blocking my data connection. It's weird. I don't know how to get rid of it.

  • Can't remove, update or re-install quicktime

I recently had video problems and using the typical check uninstalled the most recent thing before the trouble which happened to be the iTunes version of Quicktime. I uninstalled the iTunes version and tried putting the stand alone back on, said newer version was still installed. In Add/Remove programs I uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, and the Apple Updater, deleted any directory connected to the programs and ran a file search to make sure i got them all. Still claimed it was installed. (I did the uninstalling from safemode) I even ran regvac to try and clean away any lingering reg keys about the programs and yet still claimed newest version is installed. So, I cant restore a previous version of quicktime, and now I can't re-install the iTunes version for some reason. It installs fine but then it'll fatal error when trying to run a mov file.
I even tried going thru the registry with regedit to delete any referrence to apple, quicktime and itunes, but after 5 minutes of just deleting quicktime referrences with no end in sight, i gave up.

  • Can I remove PSE 7 after installing PSE 10?

Will removing a previous version of PSE (version 7) cause any problems with my recent installation of PSE 10?

If you have bought the full version of PSE 10 then there is no need to keep PSE 7 on your computer. If you have bought an upgrade to PSE 10 from PSE 7 then you will not need PSE 7 on your computer but from an installation perspective you will need the SN for PSE 7(and if PSE 7 is an upgrade then the previous qualifying version SN's also).
Remember to take a backup of your catalogs and de activate the software before unistalling PSE 7(if you do decide to unistall it).

  • Can't remove Gimp drivers to install new Epson driver

I just bought a new Photo printer (Epson Stylus Photo R1800.)
I go to add the printer in the Printer Setup Utility
click Add (The printer appears in the Printer Browser)
I select it; Then it wants me to select the driver from the list in the "Print Using" drop down.
The driver doesn't appear on the list.
I get a ESPON list but only the Gimp list.
ESPON tech support said these 'old' drivers may be conflicting with the new one.
SO, I try to delete old drivers. I delete ESPON folder from Library>Printers. RESTART.
    EPSON - Gimp still there.
SO, I also delete Gimp.pkg from Library>Receipts. RESTART
    EPSON - Gimp still there.
How do I get rid of these Gimp Epson drivers so I have a chance of loading the new drivers?
I have loaded the driver from the Epson CD 5 times and it doesn't show up anywhere.
    Any hints?

Shows you how much the Epson Tech Support people know...........
There is no conflict. You ADD using a different method - After clicking ADD, don't immediately accept the printer when it appears in the browser - instead, click More Printers, then select Epson USB or Epson Firewire, then select Format for: All. Now you are using the Epson driver instead of the Gimp-Print one. Deleting the Gimp-Print drivers won't change this procedure.

Welcome to the Apple community Pavinee Supajilt.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Logging dynamic vpn connections

How can I log dynamic vpn connections on a 2621 and pix 501? I have syslog syslog already setup and working.

You can use the Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) for this. This is RADIUS/TACACS+ software that you can install on various versions of Windows Server 200x.
You can perform Authentication, Authorization and most import for you; Accounting. The server keeps track of who logged in, when he/she did that, how much traffic passed by, how long he/she stayed connected, etc etc.
More information on the Cisco Secure ACS can be found here: http://www.cisco.com/go/acs

  • 2 concurrent VPN connections

    ISP: Comast Broadband
    LinkSys Wireless Router: SRX200 (WRT54GX2)
    PCs: 2 Dell laptops, D410 & D600
PC Connections: Each laptop works wired or wirelessly to access Internet
Problem statement: When my wife an dI both work from home, we can only maintain 1 VPN connection. Upon initiating a VPN connection from the 2nd laptop, the 1st laptop's connection is disabled.
Goal: We would like to be able to connect to our work VPN and work remotely concurrently. Is this possible?

It is definitely possible - we do it all the time.
The first thing I would check for is that each PC gets a distinct IP.
Maybe your DHCP settings only allow for one IP. Like when the first and the last IP in the range are the same number: 192.168.1.100 as an example.
If you do get individual IP's, then it may be something to do with the VPN settings. Do you both connect to the same VPN, or two different ones? If it's the same, it may be that their server only allows one VPN per Internet IP, so that's not a router problem.

  • Cannot sustain VPN connection

I need to work from home 2-3 days a week and moved to Infinity just before Xmas - now I can't sustain a VPN connection, over either wireless or wired ethernet connection.
The connection is made fine, first time, but drops after usually a minute or 2, and after that will not reconnect without a PC reboot (and sometimes not even then.)  From the VPN client (Cisco) error messages the client is unable to resolve any of the four VPN gateways that are available.
If I use a mobile dongle to connect the PC to the internet, the VPN stays up - but is too slow to be workable (and expensive) -  but that to me rules out any client/PC issues.
I've been through this forum quite extensively and this looks like the problem with "BT Web Address Help" that many others have had - but I can confirm that I have opted-out of this service at least a week ago now, and there's no change in the way VPN behaves.
Please can someone assist on this as I'm unable to do my job without home VPN access - this is making me do an extra two 80 mile round trips each week to connect to the corporate network.

Changing the PC's MTU value might help, or even changing your DSL Router?

The Homehub2 often doesn't like transferring large files especially if fragmented, which is more likely when using VPN.
