Can't remove old icloud account

cant remove old icloud account

I'm not sure what you mean. If the phone was previously owned by someone else and it is their iCloud account it is impossible for you to remove it. You must contact the previous owner and have them remove the phone from their account.

  • How can i remove my icloud account from my sons ipad?

can i remove my icloud account from my sons ipad?  I just discovered he is getting all of my text messages on his ipad!

You can, but that isn't why he's getting your text messages.  That's being caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage.  Have him go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  To avoid getting each other's FaceTime calls, have him do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
Note: you can still share the same ID for other services such as your iTunes store account even though you are using different IDs for iMessage and FaceTime.

  • I can't remove my iCloud account from my Mac

I can't remove my iCloud account from my Mac, an error shows up saying "iCloud Mail couldn’t be disabled from the iCloud Preference Pane."
I have tried adding new iCloud accounts and those cannot be removed either.

I'd wait a while.  A number of people have complained about this and I suspect Apple will find a way to remove them (such as by removing them automatically after a certain period of inactivity).
You can help influence this by providing your feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html.

  • How can i change old icloud account on my 4s ios 8.1.1?

i recently "upgraded" my old iphone 4 and bought a secondhand 4s, i forgot to ask the owner to reset the phone but it was pretty blank and now I can't change his icloud account to mine.... Any ideas on how to do that? I have some files on my icloud that I Rather not lose. Please help me with a way to do this. By-the-way the owner's icloud was made with an old email address made just for this iphone and used it only on activation....(and he is kind of a jerk)

    Hi Mihai.rxn,
Based on your description, it sounds like the phone in question may still be Activation Locked to the previous owner's Apple ID. If that is the case, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Can't delete old iCloud account from new phone

Have trouble deleting old iCloud account from my new phone keep getting a message saying can not delete cause in use

iCloud accounts can be deleted in Mail, Contacts and Calenders in System Preferences from the Apple sign menu on your Host or Main mac.
I had heaps of trouble with this - i fixed it by going back to my host imac and clicked on apple sign - system preferences - then under the Internet and Wireless heading clicked on Mail, Contacts & Calenders.  from there you can select iCloud amongst your other stuff in the left window - delete the old one by hitting the (minus) - sign down the bottom after selecting iCloud.  Keep your calenders and contacts on your mac when asked.
Once you've deleted the old one and its gone from the window reselect iCloud from the right window of options.  Use your new apple ID (current e-mail) to set this one up.
Once you sync all your devices it should all be good.
Took me ages to work this out but minutes to fix once I had.
    hope this helps

  • Can't Delete Old iCloud Account on Phone

I have an old iCloud account on my phone that I can't get rid of. I don't remember the password (required for deletion) and I can't recover the password because the email account associated with it no longer exists. I have a new iCloud account everywhere else. Please help!

Try going to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Can't delete old iCloud account from my iPhone 5

I have just got a new iPhone 5 to replace one that was stolen recently, and wanted to restore it from my last iCloud backup. However, since the last iCloud backup I have changed the email address in my Apple ID. This seems to mean that the App Store, iMessage, FaceTime etc all work using the correct gmail Apple ID, however the iCloud account on my phone is my old Hotmail Apple ID. I can't delete the account or accept new terms and conditions without entering my password to my old Apple ID, which I don't know. When I've tried to login elsewhere with my old Apple ID (eg. online) it says it doesn't exist. Help!

After further investigation, I think this is somehow linked to being unable to turn off the Find My iPhone feature on my phone. When I try to delete my iCloud account, it needs the password to my old Apple ID which is no longer active...

  • Can't remove MobileMe/iCloud account from Mac Mail

I don't use my MobileMe email address for email, so I have it forwarded to my Gmail address that I do check. Previously, any alerts that went to that account (reminders that I set in iCal, which I sync to my Google Calendar, and alerts when I use Find My Phone or Find My iPad) were routed to the Gmail address, because that's where I was forwarding the .Me email.
However, ever since transitioning over to iCloud, those alerts are popping up in Mail, which I don't use. I've gone into Mac Mail and deleted the iCloud account, but as soon as there's a new message the account gets created again and Mail opens up and displays the alert as an email message. The messages are not forwarded to my Gmail account, despite it showing in preferences in iCloud > Mail that I have the "forward mail" box checked and the correct Gmail address still in there.
Any ideas on this? I need to receive these alerts but I don't use my Mobile Me email address for anything else and I don't want to have to log into my computer to open Mail and see if I got an alert.

Typically, right after I posted this, I managed to do it!!
For the benefit of anyone else: rather than choosing Yahoo from the menu, I clicked 'Add Another Account' (thinking I could manually add the IMAP settings|) and it worked...didn't even need to input them myself...

  • How to remove old icloud account

i just bought from a second hand ip4s from a guy ,who can not remember his iclould account that why my phone once start up that makes me stuck with activation so would anyone give me some support  to resolve this problem .

Then return the phone & get your money back, because you will not be able to re-activate this phone, & Apple can't/won't help you.
If you are unable to return it, all you'll own is a useless phone.

  • Unable to delete old iCloud account

Anyone figured out how to delete an old icloud account??  No issues on my 5s but I can't get rid of it on my 4 which I want to sell.  It's an email account that was hacked long ago.......I don't remeber the password and the email account deleted as soon as I found out it was corrupted (like at least a year ago).
I've spent time in the store, on the phone.....Apple can't seem to figure this out.  More than frustrated.......I've gone thru the discussion boards, done everything.  No joy.  About ready to throw the f&*king thing out the window.
    Thanks!!

You can only remove the iCloud account if you know the Apple ID/Password that was originally used to set it up. Are you saying you don't know that Apple ID or you don't know the password & thus have no way to recover the password?

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must use the previous owner's password to get permission to use the device. If you cannot get the password your father put on the iPad you will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

  • I have tried to call AppleCare to have my old iCloud account removed from my old 4s. It's under my old email account which was hacked and I don't have access to. I do not have my iCloud password and can't sell my phone until find my phone is deactivated.

How do I get apple to deactivate my old iCloud account I have no password for it or for the email address. Phoned the number given by Apple and told I'd have to pay for technical help.

If you can't reclaim the account here:
    https://iforgot.apple.com
then call Apple Support and ask to speak with Account Security. If they require you to pay for technical support, then you'll have to pay.
    Regards.

  • Can't remove old owners iCloud acorn from my ipad tried contacting them but get no response ?

Can't remove old owners iCloud account  from ipad tried contacting them but no response ?

In which case, you have an iPad that you'll never be able to use.
There is no way around the Activation Lock. It is a security feature.
Did you not check that the device had been properly wiped and reset before buying it?
If the previous "owner" is now suddenly being hard to find, you probably bought a stolen iPad.
