Can't remove swollen battery

The tragic situation is pictured in the photo.
The battery is so swollen it has lifted the trackpad which cannot click anymore. Also the the bottom side of the case has been deformed and the laptop cannot sit straight on the surface...
The problem is that I owned a Phillips #O screwdriver, and not a #00 one which is supposed to be the one to use to open up this Macbook Pro model (13" mid 2010).
The #00 is in the mail, I ordered it. Since the situation was getting worse I rushed to open up the Macbook with the #0 and succeded. But I can't for the life of me remove the battery screws.
Will I be able to do that withe the #00? I just can't take them off. They seem to be a bit different than those used for the case.
Please tell me I'll be able to remove them with the #00, else I won't be able to use the laptop ever again.
One more question: I bought this in 2010, so it is less than 5 years old. And the battery ha snow rapidly decayed...is this normal at all? Will Apple help me in any way if I contact them?
Unfortunately I live in Italy where there are no "Genius bars".
Thank you
ps: I wonder if I'll be able to fix the trackpad at least if I ever succed in removing the battery.

It's too bad, you need 5.5 mm tri-wing screw and 13.5 mm tri-wing screw drivers to remove the battery.

The iPhone and iPad do not have user serviceable batteries. Battery replacement is handled by Apple. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar if battery replacement is required.

  • Can't remove the battery

Hi, I know it's a problem hardly resolvable via internet, but... Why not to ask? I want to remove the battery of my mbp because I guess that by using directly the power plug I could prolong the battery life (isn't it?). BUT I am not been able to remove it: I push the buttons until the red appear and I hear the click, but then the battery is still blocked. There is some special procedure?
    (sorry for my english)

    To remove the battery
    - Shut down the computer (or put it to sleep). Disconnect any cords connected to the computer.
    - Turn the computer over.
    - Locate the battery release latches on each side of the battery.
    - Slide both latches up. The battery should pop up slightly.
    - Lift the battery out.

  • Can't remove MBP battery

My MBP has been shutting down randomly (I'll be working on something and then the screen will go black and I have to restart to the chime with the power button), so I am trying to take out the battery to see if it's been recalled, but I can't get the battery out. I pull the latches up and nothing happens. Even if I turn the computer over and jiggle it a bit, it only comes out about a millimeter. How can I get it out?

Can you tell if it seems warped or bulging? If it's distorted, that may be why it is difficult to get out. But if it is bulging, there's a good chance you can get it replaced at no cost, since that is a recognized defect. If you have access to an Apple Store, try taking it in and see if a genius can get it out. Keep in mind that a bulging battery can cause other problems and potential damage, especially with the trackpad.
    Good luck!

  • Swollen battery on macbook pro 17"

swollen battery on macbook pro 17", laptop running hot, can I remove the battery and still use my computer with ac adapter? Also, what is normal temp for laptop?

Yes, you can remove the battery, but if we're talking about a unibody system, you'll need to take it somewhere to have it removed. The batteries are locked in by a rather unique screw. That's because the under side of the battery is soft and can be easily punctured.
But you can have it removed and keep on using it. It will obviously shut off immediately if power is lost, but otherwise there's no issue. And a normal temp is that the system should only feel slightly warm to the touch.

  • CAMILEO P10 - How to remove the battery ?

    Hello,
How can i remove the battery from my CAMILEO P10 ?
I wanna use two batterys, but can't remove the first :(
    PLS HELP !
    Thanks in advance !

    Hi
The battery is placed at the bottom of the camera near the SD card slot.
It should not be very tricky to remove the battery.
You need to push out the cover which secures the battery bay in order to get access to the battery. Then press the battery inwards to release it.

  • Can I run my HP Laptop without battery if it cannot be removed (mechanism battery access jammed)

I don't know if my first message got posted, so I apologize if this is a double post:
Hi. I have an HP Laptop from 2008. I had to replace the battery last year. Stupidly, I kept the Laptop plugged into A/C. The battery started losing power a week or so ago, losing 2-3 % daily. Today it is at 45%. Problem is-I cannot remove the battery-the mechanism allowing access to battery is now jammed. Is there anything I can do to preserve my Notebook? I should add I am somewhat new to technology (as of 2008) and middle-aged. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Yes you can, the risk is w/o battery when having main (AC) problem specially losing power suddenly data on HDD may be corrupted.
    Regards.

  • I want to store my mac before I go south for the winter. I don't want to lose my info. Can I remove battery and not lose anything?

I want to store my mac before I go south for the winter. I don't want to lose my info. Can I remove battery and not lose anything?

Yes. Your data are stored in your hard drive, and the battery is not required for the hard drive to keep its data.
However, you may want to google for information about how to store a battery for an extended period - "winter" is a long time, and batteries do run down when left sitting on a shelf.

  • Can't remove HP Pavilion DV6000 battery

    Hi,
I've had HP Pavilion DV6000 for four years by now and have never been able to remove the battery. It is also 2x bigger by size - it kinda acts as a leg for the laptop. My problem is that its switch is stuck on the right side (where the CD rom is) and it's impossible to move it. Also the battery isn't firmly fixed - I can pull it out a bit.
Although there is no problem with its operation, I want to remove it, because I want to change the processor - maybe someone could suggest how I could do it without removing the battery.
    I'd seriously appreciate any help

Thanks, but I got a solution - the company I bought it from told me it's possible to put a credit card in the back of it, so it gets pushed out of the back pins. And it came out. So this solved
    thanks anyway

  • Can't Remove LG Octane Battery

I've looked at the help section, and watched the instructional video on how to remove it. I still can't get the battery cover to slide off. I press and I press and I press, and I try using things to help press harder to slide it off. No go. I now have a tiny scratch on my phone from trying to follow the instructions. Is there a trick to this or am I just a wuss?
Also are there any videos of an actual human being removing the battery cover to this phone? The instructional video just had: Octane *poof* the cover is off, *poof* the battery is out.

    Hello Elistariel,
Were you able to get the battery door and the battery detached from the LG Octane? Also, have you tried the steps that lewisr13 posted. If not then there are a few options on how to get it out. You can take device to our corporate store for assistance from a sales rep. I have also posted a video for your review. Although it's not an LG Octane, the door is removed in a similar fashion. Keep in mind that this is not a Verizon Wireless video so don't be mad at me because her nails isn't done! Just joking...

Good luck and let me know if it works out for you!

If you have your MBP charger, try a SMC reset:

  • Libretto U100 battery - can I remove it while on mains supply

If I recall correctly, my old CT70 required the presence of the battery to function at all. Will this be the same with the new U100? I would like to remove the battery when working on the mains supply, to lengthen battery life.
[Edited by: admin on 17-Aug-05 18:22]

    Hello Arthur
As far as I know all notebooks can works with AC power supply if the battery is removed. It is possible that your old Libretto has some problem with power supply electronic.
Anyway you can remove the battery and use just AC power supply. I do it sometimes with my Satellite P20 for the same reason.

  • Can't remove battery on Macbook Black

    Hey.
Today I decided it was time to clean my MacBook Black [refurbished], so I powered it down and went to take out the battery. I used a coin to unlock the battery, which didn't seem to pop up. For the life of me, I can't prise the battery out. I don't want to force the thing out, as it's my only battery and I need the laptop for school work.
So yeah, help would be appreciated. The only thing I can think of which may have caused the problem is the fact that the battery was originally very loose, and I asked a guy at my school [who's noramlly very trustworthy and good with Macs] to secure it inside the battery holder and then lock it.

hi there and welcome to apple discussions!
i'd take it back to your tech at school and ask him. i know your probably on vacation, but sometimes staff is there in the summer (at least thats the case in my town )
if you can't get to the tech, take it to an Apple store. if the tech at your school is a Authorized Service Provider, they can take out the battery under warranty. if the person wasn't an ASP, then your warranty is void and you'll have to pay for the labor and parts.
i've always cleaned my MacBook without taking out the battery, and its been fine. what kind of cleaning would you do on a black MacBook anyway?
    hope that helps!
