Can't Remove Yahoo as Homepage

I have been reading the support pages for over a week and have tried many fixes that worked for others but doesn't work for me.
I have tried the following:
Reset FF
Removed FF
New Install from mozilla.org
Removed all add ons
But still my home page goes to: http://us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/web?preview=1&hspart=adk&hsimp=yhs-adk_sychp
I have lost years of bookmarks because of this darn homepage with yahoo. I don't even know how it happened. I have tried many other ways to remove yahoo but can't remember them as the list is long...
Can anyone please give me some easy directions on how to remove yahoo as my homepage?

Many of these I had tried prior to asking for help. But I think what finally did the trick this time was the instruction on how to Delete Firefox on your site. When I had previously removed firefox, I didn’t remove it the way these instructions stated. I had previously removed it from my control panel/programsandfeatures. But as soon as I deleted this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox & then went to my downloads folder and reinstalled firefox, Alleluia, it worked!!!! Thank You so very much. I hope this is allowed but I had copied the following from your site on the steps I took to fix my homepage. Hopefully, this will also help someone else with the same problem. Have a wonderful evening…
This is everything I did click on & try in this order. My OS is Windows Vista...
1st Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode
2nd Table of Contents
3rd The problem happens in Safe Mode
4th Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems
5th Table of Contents
· 1. Restart your computer
· 2. Clear your cookies and cache
· 3. Restart Firefox in Safe Mode
· 4. Troubleshoot your plugins
· 5. Reinstall Firefox
install Firefox
Some Firefox issues can be caused by a problem with one of the Firefox program files. Follow these steps to completely remove and reinstall Firefox.
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
1. Download the latest official version of Firefox from mozilla.org.
2. Exit Firefox:
3. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Exit
4. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
o (32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
o (64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
5. Reinstall Firefox - see Install Firefox on Windows for instructions.
Now start Firefox and check to see if your problem has been fixed. If it has, you can reinstall the extensions and themes you verified (in part 3 above) were not causing problems. If your problem hasn't been fixed continue with the next troubleshooting method.

  • How can I remove Yahoo trojan?

Several time an hour, the screen below pops-up, asking for my Yahoo email password. Once, when I did submit my password, a spam email was immediately sent to all of my friends. I changed my password but can't get rid of this popup. I don't know if it's a trojan or something else, but if someone could help me get rid of this screen, I'd really appreciate it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • How do I remove yahoo "automatic" homepage?

Just recently, when I open another "tab" within FF instead of going to the designated page I set up in tools: options: general, it goes to the regular yahoo search engine page (and takes longer than usual to do that). I have attempted removing all that is yahoo off my computer but there is also still a little yahoo search bar following the address bar (ugh!!). How do I get rid of this? I have tried changing my "home" address a couple of times but it always opens to that friggin main yahoo search page. I don't even LIKE yahoo...what is going on? Please help!!
    Thx

    Hi..
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Safrari/Extensions
    Click Go
If you see the Yahoo axis extension there, just move it to the Trash.
If it didn't show up there, move the Extensions.plist file from the Extensions folder to the Trash.
    Quit then relaunch Safari.

Hello, this happened to me and I was able to fix it.  Press and hold the volume and power buttons on the ipad at the same time until a red bar appears that says turn off ipad or power off ipad. Slide that bar and the ipad will shut down.  Turn it back on and it will let you continue with the process and will be unfrozen.  You won't lose any information

please, how does one remove yahoo & any of its features from firefox?
it conflicts with my ghostery software. if i can not get rid of yahoo, i will have to remove and reinstall firefox. i want to avoid this because it will cause me to lose my bookmarks.
    thank you in advance.

    Hi gunnermac,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]]. Your homepage might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc have been know to ask to become your homepage.
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If Yahoo has been set as the default search in the search bar, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Search bar]].
If the address bar search has been changed as well, you might want to take a look at [[Location bar search]].
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]].
Finally, your issue may be because you've been hit with some [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Is%20my%20Firefox%20problem%20a%20result%20of%20malware?s=malware&r=0&e=sph&as=s#w_how-do-i-get-rid-of-malware Malware].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I really would like to know how to totally remove Yahoo toolbar from my Firefox browser as well as my computer. I don't like those special toolbars at all.

I really would like to know how to totally remove Yahoo toolbar from my Firefox browser as well as my computer. I don't like special toolbars at all. I find it irritating that you included one in the newest version of your browser. In the future I would hope you would leave this or any other out. Firefox used to be my favorite browser to use, now I am not going to want to use it because of the extra toolbar. Please tell me there is a way to remove this, not just hide it.

You can't move the Yahoo Toolbar from IE to Firefox, they are totally different "behind the scenes". However you can install it, [http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/ http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/] and I believe if you log in with your Yahoo account it will sync your data.

  • I can log into yahoo but when I click mail I get a message saying that firefox can't find my address and asking me to check the spelling. Even plugging in the right address doesn't work though my wife can log into her email just fine.

Ever since removing and updating Adobe Flash Player I suddenly cannot get my Yahoo email page to come up with Mozilla 4.0 or 3.6. I can log into yahoo but when I click on Mail from the welcome page I get an error message saying that it cannot find the email address and asking me to check the spelling. I have tried removing and redownloading 4.0 and 3.6. Same problem. With other browsers--Opera, Chrome, and Safari--I don't have this problem. Please help me solve this problem as Mozilla is my default browser.

    Its known issue, see;

How can I remove a specific Gmail account from my ipad 4?

Assuming you are not syncing with iCloud and you mean, syncing with iTunes only...(you can only use one or the other for syncing to prevent duplicates)
    iTunes -
    - Open iTunes on your Mac. Connect your iPad. Then click on your iPad (either its name or just "iPad"), then click the info tab (right above the photo of an iPad in the middle). From here you can select sync contacts, then sync groups, and select the groups you want and choose Apply/Sync in the bottom left corner.
    iCloud -
    - With iCloud if you just sign into iCloud in System Preferences and turn on Contacts, it will prompt to merge all of your contacts that are not already syncing with Gmail or Yahoo!, etc. so there really isnt a way to pick and choose as much with that.
    - However if you really want to use iCloud and not iTunes, you could import the contacts that you want into iCloud.com, but you would need to export them from your Contacts App on your Mac and then import them into iCloud (VCard / .VCF is the format you want).
    * Exporting the contacts from your Mac Contacts Application --> http://mac.tutsplus.com/tutorials/app-training/contacts-101-a-beginners-guide-to -contacts-on-os-x/ (further down the page)
    *Importing contacts into iCloud.com - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605
**NOTE - Remember if you do the import into iCloud.com method, DO NOT sign into System Preferences > iCloud, and choose to MERGE contacts. If you do this later, all of your contacts will merge with iCloud and you will have duplicates of this group.
I hope this isnt too confusing. Have a good night!
