Can't rename bookmark in nemo

Hello everyone.
I connected to a WebDav server using nemo and saved it to my bookmarks.
Now I want to rename it, but when i right-click to the symbol and choose rename, nothing happens.
Nemo writes following to the Terminal:
Terminal wrote:(nemo:1357): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

I have the same problem with *any* bookmark.  I still haven't been able to figure out where this gnome-object error is coming from, but a temporary workaround is to call up the Edit Bookmarks dialogue (default Ctrl-B) and rename the bookmark there.

  • Can't rename bookmarks

Hello, I'm using firefox 23.0 on linux, just tried to rename a bookmark and I have no "Properties" menu item anywhere and the textbox labeled "Name" in "Show all bookmarks" is grayed out for every single bookmark I have. Of course I also tried typing in the grayed out textbox and, as expected, it doesn't change.
I've read several support webpages on this issue and every one points to those two obvious solutions but, in my firefox, they don't work (meaning, not a single context menu has a Properties option, neither the textbox in Show All Bookmarks allows me to type in anything).
What's the deal with renaming bookmarks?

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    Please report back soon.

In Safari, go to Safari > Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > right click and select Edit name

  • Is there any way to rename bookmarks? It was possible with older versions of Firefox, but can't do it with 3.6.23

Used to be that when I bookmarked a page or site, Firefox provided an option for renaming. Doesn't seem to do so anymore. Nor can I rename in the bookmark list when I'm "managing" or editing bookmarks.

In the Bookmarks Manager you can change the properties of a bookmark in the Details pane at the bottom right.<br />
That Info pane has a More/Less button to show or hide extra properties.
    * You can change the Properties (including the name) of a Bookmark or Tag in the Details (Properties) pane at the bottom of the right pane in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks: Shift+Ctrl+B) after selecting an item. You can rename a tag by selecting the Tags folder in the left panel and change the name in the Info pane at the bottom right.
    * You can make changes to a Bookmark in the Bookmarks menu drop down list or in the side bar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks, Ctrl+B) via the Properties entry in the right-click context menu.
    * You can open a bookmark in a tab and click the yellow (blue on Mac) star in the location bar to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and see in which folder a bookmark is located.

  • How can I rename a bookmark or bookmark folder

I don't need to ask this question any more because I found the answer. But I couldn't comment on the answer without registering. And I couldn't register without asking a question. That seems like an unnecessarily long-winded way to register. If you want to see my comments find other threads on this topic. If you (or I) can't find other threads then my suggestion to rename is:
    1. Click View/sidebar/ then select bookmarks. All your bookmarks will then be permanently displayed in a sidebar.
    2. Find the bookmark or folder you want to rename
    3. Right click and select "PROPERTIES"
    4. Type new name over the existing name
    5. Click on "save"

    Hi Gordon50501,
You would have to manage the bookmark folders on a Desktop computer. [[How do I set up Firefox Sync?]] would allow you to do this.
You can remove individual bookmarks by tap an holding on one of the bookmarks and selecting "Remove"

  • Inadvertantly relabled the "unmanaged" category in bookmarks - can't rename back to unmanaged

Within Bookmarks Menu I accidentally renamed the "unmanaged"
folder and I can't rename it back.....I find it odd that if you can change it why can't you change it back
    Thanks

    English language version of Firefox??
If so, that folder was named '''Unsorted Bookmarks'''. See if that name sticks.
If not an English version, I have no idea.

How do I save and import my bookmarks from another hard drive? When I try to open the installed Firefox on the old drive, it (obviously) opens a browser from the new main drive, free of bookmarks. Is there a way I can save the bookmarks on the old drive without opening a browser?
The guts of my computer were rearranged and I got a new main hard drive. My old one is still in there and I can get stuff from it, but when I go to the Mozilla folder on the old one, I can't figure out if there's anything I can do to get all my bookmarks from that drive to my new one, where Firefox is newly installed.

If you open Firefox then Firefox will always use the default profile folder as found via profiles.ini on your system drive.
You either need to import the file in your current default profile or copy the file to your current profile folder while Firefox is closed.
Firefox 3 stores the bookmarks and the browser history in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/places.sqlite places.sqlite] and no longer creates an HTML backup by default.
There are also (five) JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder within the Firefox profile folder.
You can either copy the file places.sqlite to your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] or import the most recent JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder of that old profile.
    See:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders".
You may want to un-check the box "Hide extensions for known file types" to see the file extensions of all files.

  • Can't rename folders on Snow Leopard Server

I have 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server running on a new Mac Mini server. Attached I have a Pegasus Raid storing all my files. I have a sharepoint set up for every project we work on but a couple act strangely. Users can create and delete folders but can not rename them once created. In order to rename they must drag the folder onto the desktop, rename and then replace the folder on the server. All permissions are set up identical to the other sharepoints which work fine. I have had a couple so-called "experts" look at the permissions in both the terminal and Server Admin. Everyone seems stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks for the input but I finally soved the problem. Here is what I found...
Although I had given users/group the ALLOW/FULL CONTROL premission with a sharepoint, I discovered that in Server Admin if you double-click on the User or Group name under the ACL permissions that a drop down box appears. This box allows you to fine tune the ACL but it appears that by default all of the boxes are not checked even though I granted the user Full Control. After checking all of the boxes I was able to create and rename folders in my share as expected.
This also had an similar effect if I denied Full Control. Some of the boxes remained unchecked and it left holes in my system where denied users could still access some files. Again by checking all boxes these holes were closed.
Does anyone know how to change the default so that all boxes are checked when assigning the Full Control permission?

Transferring bookmarks from old computer to new computer, both with Windows XP Pro?
    Thanks for your h4elp.
Also, can I create a file of bookmarks in MS Word or Open Office so that I can save them?

You can export your bookmarks to an HTML file on your old computer, and them import that file on your new computer. The HTML file also is your backup, and if you open it into Word, you could save it as a DOC file if you prefer.

Note that if you are using the orange Firefox button (abbreviated menus), you can access the class menu bar with the full Bookmarks menu by tapping the Alt key or pressing F10.
