Can't rename event in iCal?

Hi everyone!
We're having quite a problem at our company common iCal. Aprox 20 different calendars are created and most is in use 5/7 days a week.
During last week we suddenly discovered a new issue - we couldn't create new events. When double clicking to create a new, others disappeared, but luckily now a few days after (and now with a brand new iMac) the case is that events can now be created, but it's impossible to rename when doubleclicking the event to edit it, however when hitting ctrl+mouseclick and "get info" it is possible to edit the calendar.
Edit: After a little time fiddling around with the calendar it is now clear to me, that the new events was created, but was invisible. Also, I can see, that some of the time, not all the calendars are visible, even though they're checked to be visible.
Anyone have discovered the same issue or know a solution?
Any help is appreciated!!!!!!
/Jacob

  • How can i export events from ical to word

I need to use the description of many events from Ical in a text using Word for Mac.
    How can I do it?

thisone - Thanks for your response, but unlike most events, this one does not have an edit button before the Event Details screen. In the top right hand corner next to the words 'Event Details' there is just an empty space.
This event is extremely pesky and I have repeatedly synced my phone in attempt to remove it. It was an invitation I accepted for a recurring weekly event, which was sent to an email address for my old job. That email address is no longer active and no longer existing on my phone, but this event continues to show up on my calendar every single Tuesday.

  • Does anyone know if I can number repeat events in iCal?

    Hello
I am trying to number recurring events in iCal. I run language courses and I want to be able to number the lessons, so I can see at a glance what number we are on. Is there a way I can do this and set it that iCal will update the number when an event gets cancelled/moved.
    Thanks for your ideas!

Maybe late for this answer but hope it helps, I had no service on my Iphone4 in the Bahamas even after adding a 5 dollar unlimited text package. This was Valentines Day weekend and we had NO SERVICE whatsoever. Verizon just confirmed that the network trouble in the Bahamas had been previously documented. My question is how was there broken coordination with an entire country that is updating it's network not compensating/preparing for it? The chaos that ensued from 3 family parties arriving at different times, having no cell service was not pleasant. We literally had to use email on local hotel wifi thru to communicate. Verizon's answer was that we should've run *228 to update but pointed out this was no guarantee that the networking issue would be solved. Whatever the reason, this is unacceptable for the amount we all pay each month. Having been a Verizon supporter for many years, I was very disappointed during this meaningful family event not being able to depend on my phone service. Please check ahead for alerts before you go!!

  • How can I rename events?

When I split events, in the "old" iPhoto, I could rename the events as soon as I split them (all in the same screen). Now I have to go back to the main Events screen in order to do it, and that means I have to go hunt for the two events (cause they don't end up anywhere near each other). I have a rather large library of photos, and it was SOOOO much easier to rename the new events when they were all in the same screen after splitting them.
Also, the "Split" icon used to be in the bottom and now there is no icon, you have to go to the top under Events and click "Split Event" or "Create Event". Then see the problem above - you can't rename the events in that window.
It is MUCH slower than previous versions of iPhoto when I try to do anything. Of course, it does look like they FINALLY fixed Faces........
The changes are NOT impressing me!

Be sure to tell Apple about this via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. We need to get everyone reporting these "oversights" (being somewhat gracious here) so they'll know that it is a serious issue.

  • Can't add event on iCal via iCloud anymore

Since i update my mac in 10.7.5, it's impossible for me to add an event into iCal it said "Le serveur a répondu « 500 » à l’opération CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation."(yes, it's in french). When i try it on iCloud directly by using safari, it said that the server encounter an error.
So, my event aren't synch anymore on my mac and phone, but my contact still are...
    anyone with a clue?
    Thanks by advence.

You may have un-selected the default calendar in iCal.  Click on "Calendars" in the upper left, and see if any of your calendars are un-selected.  (Also, go into iCal preferences and under the General tab see what is your Default Calendar.  That's where new events are created.)

  • Can't add events in iCal on my ipad2 ...

Hi all ... don't have the plus symbol to add events in iCal. Tried quitting and reloading and a "hard reset". Any ideas? Thanks, in advance!

Go to Settings>iCloud>Calendar>On. Toggle it on and off. Leave it on if you want to sync with iCloud but then don't sync with your computer or you may get duplicate entries.

  • I can't change events in iCal 5.0.

On my MacBook OS X 10.7.1, I can't make any manual changes to iCal events.  When trying to edit an event, any typed change is temporary and the calendar reverts to its previous data right before my eyes.  Seems as though iCal can't write or save my changes!  Can I delete iCal and re-install it, hopefully resetting any files & permissions to their correct settings?

    Hi John,
Thanks for the tip.  I created a new "temp" account with system manager/administrator privileges like my MacBook account (with which iCal doesn't work), and tried syncing the calendar from my iPhone to this temp account.  I merged the calendar data and successfully added/deleted events on the calendar, both from the MacBook and my iPhone.
So iCal works OK with a new user account, but not with my original account.
I'm pretty sure that I've messed up the permissions on the iCal files associated with my original account, thus causing the problem.  I was moving files from my PC to the public folder on the MacBook over the wireless network when I discovered that the files I'd moved to the public folder couldn't be opened or modified because the permissions were insufficient.  When I tried to assign read/write permissions to these files on my original account, I must have also clobbered the permissions of the iCal files!    (Any advice you have on this issue would also be appreciated!)
Can you tell me how to re-assign the proper permissions to the iCal files for my original account?  Where are these files?
Thanks for your help - Tom

  • Can't search events in ical older than 1 yr on iPhone 4 since upgrading to OS7

This is a serious flaw. I found myself at Mayo clinic relying on searching my iPhone ical to look up past medical events. But I had upgraded to iOS 7 just B4 going & found SEARCH mode on iCal didn't find any event older than 1 year. Called Apple for help and was told this change came in with the new OS!!! And I asked how I could revert to iOS 6 --- not possible!! iCal on my Mac Air & iCloud show ALL my events. But the search mode on iCal on my phone doesn't show everything iCal saves - only the most recent events. Anybody have a workaround this problem??

If what I said helped, you can click on helped. If what I said answered your question, you can click on that. It is up to you, since all I'm here for is to try and help. I'm a user just like you.
Might I suggest something that I do, since I am an AARP member as well, I have created an Adobe document with this information, since I have had several surgeries in the past and then uploaded that into iBooks so I have that on the phone. I can update it as necessary and it keeps me from having to do a lot of searching.

  • How can I remove events from iCal?

I send myself calendar invites (repeating weekly meeting invites)from Outlook from my office workstation, to my personal email address that I monitor on my iPhone.  These are typically .ics files.  Once I accept that event on my iPhone, then that event shows up on iCal.
But if I cancel that event on my workstation, I get the cancellation email on iPhone, but the event DOES NOT get removed from iCal.
How can I remove those events from the iPhone iCal app?
    Thanks!

  • Can't search event in iCal Leopard

After upgraded to Leopard, the search function in iCal doesn't work. When typing a event title in the search field, the search pan appears with empty contents. Does anybody get the same result?

Yup, I'm having the same problems over here.
Entering the exact word in a timed event title that's right in front of me leads to a search results panel without that event listed. At all.
    Seriously, this is not good.
It's bad enough they took away the info drawer, but stuff not coming up correctly when searching just compounds the crapiness of it all

I used to safe appointments sent by mail easily in ical. Now, that I have updated the ical and use just the calenders on me.com I cannot integrate a request in ical and send a confirmation.

If you don't know the sender, then it is most likely a scam or spam email. I get them every day - I just delete them. I also get daily notices from Facebook or someone called Adriana at Facebook even though i do not have an account there. Can't do anything about it - just delete it.

  • How to annotate events in iCal?

    Hi all,
I tried to search for this, but I couldn't find anything.  How can I annotate events in iCal?  For example, for a hotel reservation, I'd like to put in the address, the reservation number, etc.  Is there a place to do this?
    Thank you!

Whoops!  Aha, I see.  It's in the "note" field, isn't it?

  • Hyperlink events in iCal?

Can you hyperlink events in iCal? I've been unable to do so and can find no references for it.
    John Kendrick

I've done a bit of research on hyperlinking events in iCal since I made that post. Turns out you can but it's sufficiently awkward to not be worth it. For my purposes.
To do so, create a new event. Either in the subsequent edit button or the original, you will see a url field. You can past the url there. The problem is that it's only accessible when you click on the event, bringing up the subsequent window. I wanted something that was clickable from the face of the calendar itself.
I got to this problem because I was putting together a spring calendar of attractive events at Carnegie Hall, in NYC. I wanted to be able to hyperlink short notations about each event, such as the name of the orchestra, to a full page description of the event on Carnegie's website. That way my wife could look through the full calendar with the full references, pick her preferences the better for us to decide which to buy tickets for.
I've decided to stick with calendars in Word, which does have this ability, and are easily shared across our home network.

  • Invitation Error: Only the Organizer can change this event

After doing a clean install of Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro, I was getting the following error when trying to edit some iCal events:
Invitation Error: Only the Organizer can change this event
The iCal events that I couldn't edit had all been ones where I had sent invitations to someone else. When I double clicked them to attempt to edit them, I received a popup that would allow me to accept/decline the event, but not edit it. I noticed in the popup that it had the email address of the original invitee plus my own email address. I'm sure that my own email address wasn't there before.
I took a look at "My Card" in address book and it only had my name and no email addresses.
After the install I had synced iCal and Address Book with MobileMe. The sync said there was a conflict with my Address Book entry and I accepted the one from MobileMe, thinking I hadn't put anything in the one on my laptop yet anyway. I ended up with the original of my Address book entry, but not marked as "my card" and an entry with just my name marked as "my card".
When I merged the two cards and made sure the resulting card was marked as my card, I could then edit the iCal events. I think it was the fact that "my card" now had my MobileMe / .Mac email address in it that allowed me to edit the iCal events.
So if you're having this problem editing events, check your My Card in Address Book and make sure it has the appropriate email addresses in it.

PS - There was an earlier post with this topic, but it didn't mention this solution. I would've replied to that post but it had been archived and replies were not allowed.

I have found a way around this. If you drag the event to your desktop, it will create an .ics file. If you open this file in TextEdit, you can delete the line that begins with ORGANIZER:. Save the file and bring it back into iCal. iCal will now assume you are the organizer, allowing you to edit. You may also want to delete the other attendees in TextEdit, as iCal will also want to send updates if you make changes to the file (because it thinks you're the organizer making changes to your own calendar event).
This isn't an ideal solution, but it lets you make the edits. Hopefully Apple will change this in a future Leopard update or in Snow Leopard.

  • Can't receive events from outlook 2000

When some people send me invites to meetings from outlook 2000 on a PC, I can drag the event to iCal and it installs fine. When others do it, it will not be added to iCal or do anything at all except cause me problems. Has anyone else had this problem. I assume it is something that is set up wrong on the users computer. But I don't know what or even have a clue. Do you?
The Macs are using OSX 10.4.7. Not sure on the PC's as there are 2000 & XP machines everywhere.
    Hope you can help,
    Tim

do you have your mail provider doing any spam filtering for you
