Can't rename folder in main directory and changes need to be authenticated

This just started today: I can't rename folders in my main directory, and I can't move anything in or out without authenticating. Yesterday I had remote tech support working to fix Parallels, and I suspect that the tech support guy changed a setting, but I can't find it to change it back. Ideas, anyone? Please advise.

Select the main directory in the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu, and give yourself Read & Write access under Sharing & Permissions.

I have just finished installing Grid infrastructure and RAC database 11gR2 successfully.
After that, I add the entries into the file /home/ora11g/.bash_profile as below:
export ORACLE_SID=racdb2;
export ORACLE_HOME=/u02/11g_db/ora11g/racdb;
export GRID_HOME=/u01/app/grid;
PATH=$GRID_HOME/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH; export PATH;
After that, I run the following command:
[ora11g@rac2 /]$ /u02/11g_db/ora11g/racdb/bin/srvctl config database -d racdb
Its output:
ORACLE_HOME environment variable is not set.
ORACLE_HOME should be set to main directory that contains Oracle products.
Set and export ORACLE_HOME and then re-run.
My questions are:
First, I have added entries into the file /home/ora11g/.bash_profile. Why it still says "ORACLE_HOME environment variable is not set" ? Is this way wrong ?
Second, what are the main directory and the file to set ORACLE_HOME ?

As we see the outputs above for the 2 commands "srvctl" and "sqlplus", my questions are:
First, why cannot retrieve database racdb ?
Second, sqlplus is poped up. Why users SYS, SYSTEM, SYSMAN cannot log in ?

Go find the graphic in question, and open it in its native program. The problem will have to be fixed there.

Changing your password won't help. It is a touchscreen so if 7,8,9 are not working then that part of the screen will not work if you were to get it unlocked.

How to transfer the file once again from save folder to main directory .

By mistakenly i have executed wrong job and the file has been moved from Al11 directory to save folder.

You can use "infospoke" to save file in the Application server(AL11).
Also give the T.code AL11 and click on the tab "Configure" to create file on the Application server.

Can IdM be used as LDAP directory and UME datasource?

Hi,
I am trying to figure out what IDM can and cannot do.
Can IDM be used as a LDAP datasource in its own right for a SAP Portal for example?
Or do you still have to use an external LDAP directory and IDM is then only used to pull everything together from all systems?

Hi Adriaan,
it should be tecnically possible to use the Virtual Directory Server as a LDAP datasource for portal, but you probably have to edit the datasource.xml of portal and the connection.
I'd rather use the portal database or a dedicated LDAP for that and use IdM to provision into this repository.

Urgent-Renamed Folder in Shared Folders and now Error for all Users?

Well I was asked to shorten a name in Shared Folders and so I changed it. Now I get an error if I click on Dashboards or Shared Folders (which is empty now btw ???) or Manage Catalog, its displaying:
Target Path Not Found (/Shared/Customer Operations) Error Code: GZ8VXQ96.
Are we not supposed to create a folder in Shared Folders and then Change the Name?
Please Help. The BI Server Administrator is telling me that everyone else's reports are not available now.

Thing is, there was nothing inside the folder yet...I hadn't moved any reports over so there was nothing referencing it yet.
How can a name of a folder that is for our dept. affect HR, Finance..when they login? Their dashboard preferences were not set to mine. Confused. And to add to this, when I click on Manage Catalog is when I receive the error. So I imagine this is something admin will have to do in Oracle on bi server?

You can rename them but it is not recommended. What purpose is served by renaming the default books? You can create new books and name them anything you like.

Saying my profile is missing or inaccessible. This happened right after I moved folder to my documents and changes name

I searched for the folder in finder where thunderbird stores its data in hopes it would have all my emails there. I renamed the folder and moved to my documents so I could easily access. (Not sure of its original origin). After I did that, when I went to open Thunderbird an error message popped up saying: Profile Missing Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.
How do I fix this?

You can move or rename a profile folder of the hard drive as that will make it impossible for Thunderbird to access this folder.<br />
Thunderbird (and Firefox) use the profiles.ini file to map the profile folder as shown in the Profile Manager with the actual folder on the hard drive.<br />
By renaming or moving the profile folder you break this, so you should never do this.

Your profile signature is confusing. There it says "iPhoto '08, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)". But your question mentions older systems: " iphoto 7 and cannot download the upgrade on my OSX 10.6.8 system"
Do you have two different Macs? If you have a second mac with OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), you could upgrade that to MAvericks and buy the most recent iPhoto '11, version 9.5.1 from the App Store. That would be the least expensive solution to upgrade your iPhoto.
If you only have iPhoto 7 on OSX 10.6.8, you can can buy the boxed iLife '11 installer package from Amazon. This will install an early version of iPhoto '11, that runs well with your current system and will let you print your book. You will need to run the iPhoto library upgrader to convert your old library, see: iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader
Also, you should be aware, that upgrading your library may change the book layout a bit, because the themes have changed between the versions, so you need to keep a backup copy of the library and iPhoto 7, to be able to compare the upgraded version to the original.

Can't find folder created by Backup and Recovery app

Hi all,
I have A316i phone and when I select "Backup and Recovery" app and backup my SIM contacts it shows it created backup (and I can see it in the restore tab). But when I want to find that backup on my phone's SD memory card in order to copy it to my PC hard disk I can't seem to find it.
How do I copy backup folder from phone to PC ( and how do I find it)?

Go to contacts > press the settings button (bottom left side)>Import/Export.
You can also export contacts to your google account... That way every time you change your Android phone just connect with your google account and all your contacts and the data (birthday, address, photo.. )you add to them will show up.

Can I use TC as Main HD and backup onto Macs

Hi,
Excuse my lack of knowledge.
I've just bought a time capsule as a solution to keeping my iMac and Macbook Synced. I didn't know much about them and didn't know if it was the answer but thought it a good idea to be able to backup my Macs anyway.
I'm waiting for the iMac to finish its first backup, yawn, and have just thought up my ideal solution.
I would like to use the TC as my permanent hard drive and access files on it from my iMac and macbook, but then haven't got the guts not to have the files on it backed up.
Is it possible to use it as the main HD but have my iMac back up its content using time machine?
If not can anyone suggest a better solution?
I've tried dropbox but again haven't the guts to leave valuable files in the cloud alone.

TM is a backup/restore system. You cannot use a TC backup to boot a Mac. TM/TC does not make a bootable backup. The TC also connects via Ethernet or wireless and you cannot boot a Mac over either.
Why exactly do you want to use the TC in this particular way? I suggest you might see:
A whole lot about Time Machine for help with TM problems. Also you can select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "time machine" to locate articles on how to use TM. See also Mac 101- Time Machine.
Also, carefully read the user guide that came with your TC.
