Can't rename video tracks in Premiere CC??

Most of my projects consists of 40 -50 video tracks, so renaming the video tracks are the upmost importance.  Everytime I try to rename a video track it's greyed out, but I can rename audio tracks with no problem.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Have you found out all the different ways you can increase the track size in PProCC? And that you can save settings?
Good info in this Andrew Devis tutorial:

  • Can't Rename video tracks in Bootcamp

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 on my Macbook Pro on the Windows 7 bootcamped partition. I try to rename my video tracks by right clicking (or control clicking for that matter) but all that happens is they become highlighted or unhighlighted (or nothing if the track is locked). My right click works for other applications as well as other parts of Premiere (renaming the sequence, etc) but not the video tracks. How can I fix this?

Make sure that you are Rt-clicking ON the Track Name in the Track Header. Otherwise, you will just Target the Track. Depending on your screen rez, you might have to be very exact with cursor placement. It can be rather like finding the vertical zoom handles, between Tracks - a pixel hunt!
[Edit] Just tried this in PrPro 2.0 (obviously on a PC), and the cursor position was not anywhere near as critical, as I suspected. Anywhere in the Header got me the Rename option. Guess that I always did it right on the Track Name, and made an incorrect assumption. Sorry for that.
I've not heard of Bootcamp loosing the Renaming capabilities, but have to admit to being a PC-only guy.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can't drag video into timeline premiere cc

Been working with PP CC since it came out and have had almost no problems. Now I have a head scratcher. I can't drag a video clip from the project panel to the sequence. The audio comes but the video won't. All I get is the close hand with a line through it when I hover over any of the video tracks. The clips play fine in the source monitor but still cant drag it from source to sequence either. Tried this with clips from several projects and cameras but no go. Started a new project, different name, folder and footage, still have the problem.

  • Can't hide video tracks

Probably a newbie thing, but while I can toggle the eyeball that's supposed to hide/unhide video tracks, and it did just that when I began working with it, it no longer hides them. There seem to be other problems as well. Any ideas?

The eyeball hides a layer's pixels in the comp, but not the layer itself in the associated timeline. AE treats those things separately. If you must hide a layer's track in the timeline, as Dave already mentioned, you need to shy it, that is use the guy with the funny nose button at the top of the timeline and the layer switch on the layer itself.

    I know i know

But after you name it you can not use any of the pre-set effects in the Track Info Pane or it will re-name it to that effect.
An annoying idiosyncrasy, IMO. If someone goes to the effort to rename a track, GB should have the good manners to leave it alone... at least on real audio tracks where a renamed track is likely to be more meaningful than the name of an effect.
Of course, if someone wanted to change an effect, they shouldn't not do that because of the name thing - they can always change the effect and rename the track back to whatever they want. But still!

  • How to import wmv video tracks in Premiere Pro CC on mac?

    Hi,
Is there a way to import wmv video files in premiere without converting them before?
I'm aware, that exporting is another topic, i'm only intrested in importing.
I only found the information, that AME is able to import WMVs after installing Windows Media Player for Mac (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4031104), but is this also possible in the same way for Premiere Pro?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Were you ever able to find a solution for this? I am working on a project that has some .WMV files and trying to import them in Premiere Pro CC on a Mac. Thanks!

  • Can't export video out of Premiere cS5.5

I am NOT tech savvy and easily overwhelmed at reading some of the suggested solutions to other people's issues. Any patience you can give me is very much appreciated after I ask dumb questions or give dumber answers.
I am editing a wedding on my iMac. I can give specs later if needed. I have edited other weddings before on this system with the occasional need to force quit from time to time. This time around I used the Dynamic Link option to do my color grading in After Effects. The residing Premiere clips take way too long to render, if they render at all, and playback is always choppy so I export H264 files from After Effects to replace my clips in Premiere.  At first, I didn't put a cap on the data rate which made all my files really large. My reception section was like 30 something GB and I could understand why that wouldn't allow me to dynamic link to Encore to finalize for DVD. So I limited the data rate to 40,000 kbps so that i wouldn't sacrifice quality.
After importing the clips and adding them to the timeline I still couldn't get Encore to open properly without it being forced quit. So I broke my timeline up into 4 smaller sections to export to MPEG 2. The first section exported beautifully. I haven't been able to get Premiere Pro to do anything since. And I've constantly had to force quit Premiere Pro through the entire project.
Is anyone willing to help me out here? I thank all in advance.

What Mac OS? It makes a difference. Neither Yosemite nor Mavericks is supported officially, but we believe work.  See the following thread for some info.
    CS5 Encore Yosemite
If would not use dynamic link; it is just a headache with the other issues you will have.

  • Can't rename videos

I just got my 5G iPod a few days ago and i've been meddling around with iTunes, which i've been using since i got my 3G in 2003. I've imported several videos and coverted them for iPod. Upon doing so however, half the videos i've converted turn up having no name. Instead, the name that is displayed seems to be that of the quicktime file from which they were converted. Transferred to the iPod, no name is shown at all. When i try to rename the files to give them an actual name, i find i'm unable to do so. Here's a screenshot i have just in case you've seen such a problem happening but don't understand a thing i'm saying:

  • Can't export video out of Premiere

I have Adobe Production Prremium CS4 set up in a lab scenario in an educational environment where students capture their video out to a gigabit-connected server, then attempt to export it through Adobe Media encoder either to Encore for DVD production, or to an AVI file for their professor to grade.  When the queue in the encoder is started, the operation fails due to an "access denied" error, regardless of the permissions of the user trying the operation.  It appears that the encoder is trying to use a temp file on the local drive as a working directory, then says it can't access that same directory.  Has anyone else had this issue?

The post cut off most of what i tried to copy in there.  Anyway, we figured it out:
The Media Encoder, by default, uses the Media Cache folder in After Effects for a render space.  As I said in the original post, this is a lab environment, so all the machines are set up using imaging software.  With the original image set up using the local Administrator account, the permissions on that folder to everyone else who logged on were set to read-only, so when anyone else tried to use it, it would fail.  I re-set the permissions for read-write access for Everyone, and now it's working fine.  Thanks to the people who offered assistance

  • Can you collapse video tracks to one track?

Is there a function or method to automatically trim clips to collapse them to a single track? This would be useful to me in the final stages. Just checking before I submit a feature request.

  • View multiple video tracks at once?

    Hi Guys,
How can I get the multi cam monitor to show me my 3 or 4 cameras at once? I know there is the method in which you sync clips and then do a nested sequence with enabled multi-cam operations, but can I just view the multiple clips at once on the multi monitor?
The reason I want to do this, is so I can view all the cameras and do some syncing!
Also, I have tons of stuff on my timeline which is all in different hours of the day trying to be synced. I can't really do fast syncing and then multi cam monitor.........
Currently, when i do enable multi-monitor in premiere, I can switch from video track to video track, but cannot see all my tracks at once
    Thanks...
    MrD

I've seen the multi cam tutorials, but I just wanna watch the videos for the sake of me syncing them and not because they are already synced...
    Huh?
I tried ...but hopefully some else can under stand that and help you?

  • Alternate between video tracks?

I am wondering if it is possible to have a QuickTime movie alternate between different video tracks. For example, we record both a speaker and their presentation. Currently, we present both side-by-side, but for portable devices, we would like to present them both in one frame so the image isn't so wide.
Is there any way to do this in QuickTime? I know you can set which video track is in the foreground and which is in the background, but I do not know how to alternate them. Is there some kind of wrapper or command/text track that could help us with this? I know we could patch something together after the fact using an editor, but I would like to keep this fairly simply and automated (i.e., record the times to switch during the live recording, and apply those to a QuickTime script or wrapper afterwards).
    Thanks!

    Yes and no.
Yes it is possible to create MOV files with multiple audio and video tracks that can be keyed to switch tracks via either the built-in language selection (in the QT Player View menu) or using sprite switches embedded in the file for use with a mouse.
No from the standpoint of possibly not serving your needs adequately. Normally the alternate track switching is keyed to changes in the audio track, so switching of audio is actually keyed to an switch in audio track. This means the simplest approach would require paired AV tracks to provide proper control. As I assume you want to be able to switch back and forth while the movie is running, there is the problem of the finite delay in the amount of time it takes to actually make the switch and the fact that sometimes the player may begin to drop frames severely. I.e., sometimes you get a smooth video switch and playback continues smoothly and sometimes you don't. Normally this is not a problem with alternate language/alternate video viewing of a movie since the user can always stop/pause playback to restore a smooth playback.

The simplest form of switching is actually built into QT. If you have QT Pro, you can set the switches very easily. In any case, I am posting a one minute sample file which you can download and to examine the switches in the Properties window (if you have QT Pro) or try playback in the QT Player to simply see how the switching works. I.e., in the case of the sample file, one track pair is keyed to "English" and the other is keyed to "French."

  • Final cut x muting a video track?

what options do you have when right clicking on a video clip in the timeline? can you mute video tracks???

    Mute Audio
Pulling down the volume fader to mute an audio channel is not the right way to (from a sound engineer point of view). If you had the level set at a specific level then you have to remember that if you want to "unmute" it. The Mute button is the correct way to to. Unfortunately, FPx doesn't have a mixer (yet) so you have to go to the Inspector and uncheck the audio. You will notice that the waveform disappears from the Clip
    Mute Video
To mute the whole Video (or any Clip), just select the Clip and use Key Command V or the Menu Command "Clip > Disable"
I cover that in more details in my manual "Final Cut Pro X - How it Works", available on my website:
