Can't replace deleted firmwa

I recently purchased a 20gb Zen Sleek Photo unit. I attempted to update the firmware using the exe file from the support section of the Creative website (ZenSleekP4S_PCFW_LB_2_0_03.exe). I started my player in Recovery mode and selected Replace Firmware (which deleted the current firmware installed on the unit, v0.0.6) and then ran the update utility with the unit connected to my computer via USB with a fully charged battery. The update utility then notifies me that the player is NOT connected to the computer, which it is and is detected by windows as being attached.
I am now unable to operate my player at all, it starts with the CREATIVE logo and then the screen distorts for a second and then the 'Recovery Mode' screen is displayed.
Is there anyway of replacing the original firmware or will I need a replacement unit's
I have noted a lot of people have had the same or similar issue with various players and have been sent replacement units, a download of the v0.0.6 firmware would be good also.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am beginning to get pretty frustrated with it.

It seems silly to me that they provide the end user with the ability to delete firmware but do not provide the original firmware in case of something going wrong.
EDIT: I've since discovered that the firmware I downloaded was not for the Photo version, I'm so silly :SMessage Edited by stitch on 03-9-200609:07 PM
EDIT: Customer Support sent me the European firmware for my Sleek so I have hosted the file on my website for anyone else who has the same problem.

    After using "replace with clip" to replace clip A in the timeline with a new clip B , clip A can not be deleted from the project anymore.
    If you try to delete clip A, you get a warning, that it still has references in one or more sequences.
    If you continue and delete clip A, it seems to be deleted - at first!
    Unfortunately if you save and reopen the project, clip A is restored to folder "Recovered clips".
    It's not possible to really delete it.
    I also did not find a way to unlink clip B from A .
    The only thing you can do, is to revert the change by "Restore Unrendered" in the clip context menu. But that's obviously not helping
    I dont know if this is a bug or a feature. I understand, that it can be useful to undo the "replace clip" function, but why would anyone not want to be able to delete the original clip at all?
    help how to fix this problem is greatly appreciated!

    I'm sure it has nothing to to with other sequences.
    You can easily reproduce this behaviour:
    1. create a new project
    2. import 2 clips and name them "A" and "B"
    3. put "A" in the timeline
    4. ALT-drag "B" over "A" in the timeline (or right-click "A" in the timeline while selecting "B" in the project files and select "replace with clip ... from bin")
    5. delete "A" from the project files
    6. save and close project
    7. reopen project
    => "A" reappears in "Recovered clips" and can not be deleted.

    I'm using CS6, and I have a tree vector image, and I am trying to put names on top, but when I do this to keep it clean with no anchor points (as my other software cant read it with all the points in it) I have to manually delete each one but it deletes the whole path and I then end up with a tree, names on top, and a big gappy circle around the names.
    So really, I wanted to add the names on top, and have that delete all anchors underneath .
    Does this make sense? :S

    Yes it's possible to sync music back from a iPod back into iTunes that (I assume) wasn't purchased on the iTunes Store.
    Apple allows iTunes Store purchases on devices to be reversed back into iTunes, just not cd rips and stuff like that. For that it's a one way trip to the device from iTunes.
    I likely can't suggest such software here, but if you visit iLounge you can ask what is the latest software that works for your platform.
    Really it only takes a mere few minutes to backup your iTunes Library and stick in a few cd/dvd's or a external drive. iTunes even has a menu command for it to make it oh so simple. Please use it and backup all your data.
    Hard drives fail, computers burn up, thieves steal, stuff gets forgotten. Plan for something happening because it will.

  • How can I replace just the corrupt page(s) in the domain file of iWeb using Time Machine?

    I back up with Time Machine and have an extensive elaborate website I created in iWeb '09 over a couple months and publish to a local folder and then upload to my server, but in the last few days I notice certain pages (that I haven't even worked on or touched) somehow become corrupted or "cross-contaminated" with elements and images from other pages.  Once I see they are corrupt I make sure not to publish them (if the current published versions are the correct, non-corrupt versions) or if they did get published I can use Time Machine to retrieve the .html file and page files folder for that specific page and replace it in my published folder/server so it shows correctly on the Web.  However, that does not replace the corrupted page(s) you see and work with when you launch iWeb and try to edit or continue working on that page.
    I am confused as to how I go to the package contents of the domain file and replace just that page with a previous version from time machine.  I don't want to replace the entire domain file because I have new changes I made to other pages even in the past hours.  How can I keep the good pages and just get earlier, non-corrupted versions of the corrupt page(s)? I know it's not as easy as with the published site folder where you can just replace the page's .html file and folder, but I don't want to have to re-create the corrupted page(s) from scratch or have to replace it with the last non-corrupted domain file and then have to redo all my recent changes to new pages I made before discovering the corrupt page(s).  Thanks for your help as now I can't make changes to the page(s) within iWeb itself.

    Thanks for the response, Wyodor.  I don't know what that is, but I'll have a look.  Is it an alternative to iWeb or a way to transfer pre-existing iWeb sites?  When you say merge domain files, is that like so multiple copies of the same site show up then you can pick and choose the non-corrupted pages and group them then delete the corrupted ones?  I am on Snow Leopard with no plans or need to upgrade anytime soon.
    And yes, I will read your links but just wanted to ask those questions.  Maybe they'll answer my questions, maybe not.
    I was able to discern that within the domain file is a domain folder with all the site folders, each with their own page ".gz" files which expand into ".xml" files.  I was trying to figure out if you could simply drag the corrupt pages out that way and replace them with backup copies that are still good.  I am having trouble discerning which pages are which as they all have random names like site-page-30F175E3-AE33-4F10-A490-1A096D9B185B.xml and although I expanded and opened each in Text Wrangler, I still couldn't discern which were which for sure, and trial and error proved cumbersome.  Also, I did notice some of the later corrupted domain files had one or two more pages than the site itself has, so not sure how they got added or duplicated or what.
    Again, I'll look at your links, but do you know about swapping out individual page .xml files this way within the domain file?

    Late last year I upgraded from tiger to leopard (very out of date I know) but ever since I have been getting warnings that my startup disk is full.  I have deleted loads including pictures and itunes but still get the same mesage.  I think when I upgraded the old version was stored somewhere and this might be causing the problem.  Does anyone know where I would be able to find and delete - or alternatively have any other suggestions for what the problem may be?

    80GB is a very small drive. 
    Sorry Noondaywitch, but omni disk sweeper isn't going to install in the space remaining, without more problems. 
    My Suggestions
    1.  Get a large (400GB+) USB hard drive
    2.  Copy all the contents of your home directory to the USB drive.
    3.  Delete all your files from your home directory on your computer after making sure everything transferred ok.
    4.  Perform a clean (destructive) install of Mac OSX and then the applications you need.
    5.  Check how much space you have left.
    6.  If there is less than 50% of the HDD space left (35GB or so), then consider replacing the HDD with a new larger one.  If it's a white intel mac book, then this is very easy, and instructions how to do it are included in your 'everything else' wallet with your OSX DVDs etc.
    7.  If you can't replace the HDD, then it's time to consider a new machine i'm afraid.

    Thanks in advance for any advice on the following. I am trying to free up some space on my Macbook Pro hard drive. In the Pictures/ iPhoto Library folder, I seem to have a lot of duplicates. At this folder level, I have series of sub folders with years 2002-2006 listed, and there is also a folder titled data, which also has subfolders 2002-2006. Can I safely delete one set of folders without losing my pictures?

    In a word, NONE. Those are all necessary item for the operation of the library. Those files in the Originals folder are obviously the originals. Those in the Data folder are the thumbnails iPhoto uses to display in the main library window. The Modified files are those that you've editied, rotated, etc. To do any moving, renaming or editing of files directly from the folder is tantamount to committing the cardinal sin of iPhoto: Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder.
    What with the low cost of external FW HDs, they are a very cost effective way to protect and preserve important files. As you may know it's recommended to have a minimum of 10G free space for optimum performance of the system and applications. More if possible. You can use Monolingual to remove any language module you don't need (be sure not to select English or American English and DO NOT run any of the Architecture items). I saved nearly 900MB the first time I ran it.

    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it.     And I'll suggest that you post the entire code - since you repeatedly delete 2 table variables but only populate one. The setting of @maxID also seems to have no purpose. And perhaps the issue here isn't the cursor but the general approach.  Who knows
    - but it appears you may have prematurely assumed that the cursor is the problem.

    Thanks for the question. Was this song purchased from the iTunes Store? If so, it may be that your device is configured to show all of your purchased music that has not yet been downloaded. The following resource may resolve your issue:

    I love my 400 MHz TiBook but its 10 GB hard drive is filling up. I have approx. 1.5 GB of free space left. What files that can be safely deleted? Can I delete extraneous printer files, modem files, packages, etc? I use MacJanitor to clean out caches and I don't have any music or photo files that might be causing the bloat. Also, before I delete anything I will back my hard drive up to a FW drive with SuperDuper.

    Hi, Fred. You're wise to be thinking about how little free space you have left now, before the operation of your Powerbook is seriously impaired. But rather than just nibble away at the contents of your drive, which will only buy you a small amount of time before you're back where you started, you should be thinking about replacing your tiny 10GB hard drive with a larger one. You could easily get a 60GB drive for $50 plus the cost of shipping, and installing a drive in a Tibook is very simple — a 20-minute job at the outside. Then you'd just start up from the external FireWire drive on which you've cloned your 10GB drive, and use SuperDuper to clone its contents onto the new drive. The whole drive swap and data transfer, including the original cloning, could probably be accomplished in less than two hours. Then you wouldn't have to worry about hard drive space for a long time to come.

    Open Address Book on your Mac, click All Contacts, select a single contact, press Command-A to select them all (they should all be highlightes), then go to File>Export>Export vCard and save this on your desktop.  Then delete all your iCloud contacts by going to icloud.com on your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on All Contacts, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the gear-shaped icon at the bottom left and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard to delete them all.  Then click on the gear-shaped icon again, choose Import vCard and navigate to the vCard you saved earlier to import your contacts to iCloud.

    Now I do not know which of them Mail.app uses.

    I'm not totally sure but I think you shouldn't delete it because you won't be able to read your elder encrypted mail any more. On a help page of THAWTE I found the following the following statement:
    +"Please note that the replacement process itself does not invalid your currently installed thawte personal email certificate. Thawte Personal Email certificates will be revoked on the date as specified within your notice email.+
    +In order to continuing reading/decrypting your old encrypted email, we recommend that the Thawte Personal Email certificates are not be deleted from your PC, even after the certificates are revoked and the replacement is completed."+

    is not for the Replace statement. You would have missed a PERIOD in some statement before this.
    When we see the code that you have pasted,
    L_VAR = BANGA'LORE
    here period is missing at the end of the line. The error could be because of that.
