Can't reply or forward gmail in Mail 6.0 (only write!)

After having done some SMTP-server editing on my MacBook Pro I have problems with Mail 6.0 using Mountain Lion.
I've 4 accounts connected to the application of which 2 are gmail accounts with IMAP.
The problem is that after the editing I can't reply or forward any mails using the gmail accounts, only write new messages with them!
I've tried a few things. Clean OS install, Time Machine restore and different account settings from the web.
None of them seems to work. As of now I either have to send through my web browser, iCloud or an Exchange account.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also having email issues.  I used to be able to recieve and send mail through our outlook server.  Now I receive messaes, but cannot send.  It immediately reports it got an error trying to send and the message is stuck in my Outbox.  I tried dropping the user account and recreating it.  Interestingly, when I filled out all the login data, it said it could not verity my outgoing mail settings.  I did have an error.  I fixed it, and when I saved, it saved fine.  However, I still cannot send emails.  I got this phone to use for work, and this is killing me.

  • Delays when replying or forwarding an e-mail

I just recently bought a MacBook Pro and have been using Mail.app. Whenever I attempt to reply or forward an e-mail, I get the color pinwheel for as much as 30 seconds before Mail displays a new screen for entering the address of the recipient. I used Mail.app a long time ago and don't remember this every occurring then. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations (Parallels in particular, if you have that installed) and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.

  • Can't reply or create new e-mail at all. Can if I go to photos & forward 1

Very odd behavior that started when I upgraded to the new iOS 4.
When I'm in the mail app and I touch the "create new mail" icon, it lights up but nothing happens. No new, blank e-mail message appears. Also, when I am reading an e-mail, if I hit the "reply" icon, I get the options for reply, reply-all & forward, but after pressing them, nothing happens. I just return to the message.
If I go to my photo library and forward an image that way, a new e-mail does pop up and I can send that way.
I have 3 different accounts on the iPhone and have for years. MobileMe, Hotmail and an Exchange account. They can all recieve mail and I can manipulate it (move it to folders, delete it, etc), but I don't get the pleasure of responding.
Obviously this is a huge issue. I had to replace my iPhone for a hardware reason last night. I had the Genius look at that issue too. He had no idea what was going on. He told me to try restoring my backup to the new phone and if I had the same problem, come back.
It's not that easy to get an appointment and head over to an Apple location, so I'm hoping someone on this forum has a solution.
    Thanks!

To clarify, this has happened on two consecutive phones?
If yes, it would seem to point to dome bad data in the backup. I know this sounds less than fun, but if it is the case, could you try restoring the phone as a new phone and then add the email accounts to see if you can email then? If it still doesn't work, you can always restore your old backup. If it does work, you won't want to use that particular backup. That would mean tackling the pain in the tukus task of repopulating your iPhone from scratch. But it would all work.

  • Firefox cannot load anything but the Inbox on gmail (it can neither reply, nor forward, nor load the Settings tab), but the xplorer can

I have a very specific problem, only with the Gmail page. This problem only occurs on Firefox. I get the Inbox page and see my messages, but I cannot do anything other than that. I cannot reply, forward, or open the Settings tab. Whenever I try to do anything of the sort, it remains jammed on "Loading..." and never changes the page. I do not experience this problem with the Explorer, so I have to use Explorer to work with my Gmail web account.

I have two yahoo accounts and I know as they 'improved' their servers I had periodic outages. It'd work fine on my webmail on  my computer, webmail on the iPad, but not via the mail app. And it was stuff on their end. It may be a case of wait and see and you may need to eventually remove/readd the account on your iPhone.
When the issue is on their end, unfortunately there's not much for users to do beyond wait it out or find work arounds.

  • Why can't I automatically forward from Apple Mail to Gmail?

Why can I no longer automatically forward mail from Mac Mail to Gmail account automatically. This worked fine till a few days ago but no longer. I hadn't changed any settings.  have asked about this in Gmail forum but no useful answers, I have now changed various setting but makes no difference. Most of the Gmail help is oriented to Mail 4.0, I have 3.6, so that doesn't help (can I upgrade, I have OS10.5.8), I uploaded MailUpdate but it would it wouldn't let me install).
Maybe there is a way via Mail Forward but that seems for forwarding _from_ webmail _to_ Apple Mail.
    All help gratefully received.
    Thank you,
    Michael

I suppose Gmail is forwarding to Apple Mail but not v versa, hardly anything at all is landing in Gmail.
My Apple Mail is a POP account, but IMAP -enabled in Gmail if that makes sense, Gmail help says that's what you should do to forward from POP to Gmail.
I want to forward them to Gmail so I can read my POP mail on my PC at work, as I said this worked beautiflly since I started in Feb till last week, then stopped for no apparent reason... As alternative I use mail2web which is just about okay but very slow, no outbox, no spam or other filtering, keeps timing out.
Yes something is doubling up but not sure what...
In my Apple Mail I have two accounts, both POP, one my regular apple mail account, the other my Gmail account, but settings are different according to Gmail help but not sure if they  are right any more..
    thanks again

  • Active Synch on OS 2. Can't reply or forward emails.

OS 2 has been great.  My only issue is when using active synch with my corporate email account. All Gmail accounts work flawlessly. I can generate a new email using active synch but when I reply or forward the email errors out with no description. Has anyone experienced this and/or fixed this? I also have an android using active synch with the same account and all the features work from there which rules out my email server.
    Thanks in advance

  • Can't reply to recieved emails, The mail server responded: 5.5.2 MAIL FROM syntax error.

I can recieve mail sent to one of my 4 addresses ([email protected]) but I can't reply, forward, or send from that address I get the alert that says The mail server responded: 5.5.2 MAIL FROM syntax error.

I'd probably start looking at the copy of the message in your Sent folder.

  • Can't Reply or Forward Messages

On my Palm Pre, WebOS 1.0.4, connected to a Zimbra-based EAS (Exchange ActiveSync) server, I receive messages, my calendar and address books sync fine, and I can send new messages to people, but I can't reply to or forward messages. They just sit in my Outbox. Usually. Every once in a while something will go through. I have begun to speculate that it may relate to the sender's name format, but I'm not sure that's true.
I don't believe this is a server-based problem, because everything worked fine on my previous phone, a Treo 750 on AT&T. We also have iPhone and BlackBerry users who don't have any problems.
I have not seen any posts on this. I've reset the phone and deleted and recreated my Exchange account on the Pre, but that has not helped. The fact that this isn't posted as a common problem encourages me that it may be something unique to my situation or something I'm doing wrong. On the other hand, it also worries me that it's not going to be addressed by an upcoming patch or WebOS 1.1.
Any suggestions? Is there any more information I can provide?
Thanks for any help. This is a real Pre-killing situation for me. I can't function without viable e-mail.
    Thanks,
    Colin

  • I can't reply or forward my GoDaddy email from Iphone5

I am unable to reply or forward my GoDaddy email from my Iphone5.  I have confirmed the settings are correct but server rejects the replies.

I've been round and round with GoDaddy support and at this point they said the issue is with Apple and not GoDaddy. I can't send any outgoing email at all from my iPhone 5.
I have tried all configuration settings, I can login on webmail, I've checked all entries for a typo... has anyone else encountered this?
When I update the outgoing port to SSL off and port 80, I get an error of "The POP server 'pop.secureerver.net' is not responding.  Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in th 'incoming mail server' field."
I uninstalled and reinstalled my email acount on my iPhone.  The error I get when trying to send an email is "the user name or password for "SMTP:[email protected]@smtpout.secureserver.net is incorrect.""
GoDaddy support verified my smtp relays are unused, and I have it set for 250 per day, though the screen says "0 of 0 used," which concerns me but support told me it's fine.
I can see my emails, I followed all instructions with adding my username and password to both in and out, and tried all if this:
    Check Your SMTP Relay Settings
Make sure you have set up SMTP Relay in your email account. For more information about setting up SMTP Relay, see Checking your SMTP Relay Settings.
    Check Your Mail Server Names
    Incoming mail server
Outgoing mail server used for SMTP relaying
    Check Your Port Settings
    Without SSL
    Incoming Port
    IMAP - 143
    POP - 110
    Outgoing (SMTP) port
    One of the following: 25, 80, 3535
    With SSL
    Incoming Port
    IMAP - 993
    POP - 995
    Outgoing (SMTP) port
    465
Check for Email or Email Account Problems
NOTE: See Email Account Limitations for maximum email and attachment size as well as other limitations that may affect your ability to send email.
Check the size of your message
Check the number of email addresses on the email
Make sure you haven't exceeded your daily relay limit
One relay consists of one email message sent to each person using the SMTP service. So if you send one email message to 30 people, it counts as 30 relays. Relays are counted on a daily basis and your daily allotment is reset each night between midnight and 2:00 A.M., Arizona time.

  • I open my email from frontiernet (a local provider) I can read the email but when I go to reply or forward I get a Skype help page then a blank page. Therefore I can't reply or forward email.

I log-in to webmail. frontier.com and go to my inbox. I have no trouble reading my email but I cannot reply or forward. When I try to do either I get a screen that first has a Skype help page then goes blank. It says done on the bottom but there is no reply box to type in. I've never had this problem before and I've been doing this for almost 2 years on may computers. The only thing different is I had some work done and had to re-install Firefox. Could a newer version cause the problem? I do not have this problem when I use IE or am on a different computer. This was happening even before I installed Skype.

Disable the Skype extension for Firefox - both versions if you really have two versions installed.

  • Forwarding Gmail to Mail

    Hello,
Getting my gmail to forward to mail isn't exactly the issue. My problem is sending Gmail's from Mail. I am able to send mail alright, but one of the Gmail addresses insists on sending 'as' the second Gmail address. If I send a test from [email protected] and from [email protected], the receiver gets two from [email protected] Additionally, any email sent from abc is also sent to xyz - regardless of addressee.
I think this is due to SMTP server settings. I have only one SMTP server set up and in the pop up (edit smtp server list) in the right hand column it says - in use by account abc, xyz. I tried setting two SMTP servers (one each) but got some dialog of conflicts and can't do that. So, maybe I'm wrong (not the first time) about where the problem is, but any help would be appreciated.

    chattphotos - Eric
    Thanks for the replies.
Chattphotos - I have not deleted and re-added the accounts and no, I'm using POP. I have checked the from field to make sure it's origin is correct.
Eric - I usually capture these dialogs but didn't - it just said 'something' to the effect that two smtp gmail servers were in conflict.
So, I'm going to go and redo this, change to IMAP first and then capture any dialog that comes along.
Thank you and wish me luck .

  • Can't reply to or send new mail using my .me account.

I am using a net book with Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.12. All of a sudden I can no longer reply to or create new emails from my Mobile Me .me email account. All I get is a blank page. I have spoken with Apple about this and they have been no help whatsoever. This problem does not occur on any of my other computers. I have tried the about:config, dom.storage.enable trick but the default is already set to true and changing it does nothing. I am at a loss and have run out of things to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking this is an authentication or port issue. Is this how you set it up?
    http://www.startlogic.com/support/tutorials/view_tutorial.bml?kbid=7958
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • Reply and forward not working in full screen mail app

In the full screen version of the Mail application in Lion I can't reply or forward any messages.  I have to go back to the old view in order to respond to mail.  Is anyone else having this problem and if so, is there a fix?  The full screen apps and new mail program were a major reason I upgraded..

I regularly experience the same problem. It also occurs with Compose.
Sometimes Compose, Reply and Forward work fine in full screen mode. But frequently they don't, and I have to exit full screen mode to regain functionality. I have not been able to detect any pattern.

  • Using Firefox 4.0.1, I am unable to "Compose", "Reply" or "Forward" messages in Yahoo Mail. I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer.

Clicking on "Compose", "Reply" or "Forward" in Yahoo Mail does not do anything. I troubleshot the problem with Yahoo directly and they feel that the issue is with Mozilla Firefox. I do not have this issue when using Internet Explorer. Other buttons in Yahoo Mail, such as "Delete" and "Move" do work.

I had the same problem and discovered it went away when I disabled the AVG Do Not Track extension on firefox.
