Can't republish to my website from iWeb

I created a very simple website with FatCow as my host, using a website design program made available by the host. Then I used iWeb to make some minor changes and republished to my FTP server, and that was successful. Then, using iWeb, I chose to redesign and enlarge the site with additional pages, each page consisting of a large iPhoto album, and attempted to re-publish it. That attempt failed, and so have a few other attempts to re-publish it with minor changes to pages. Some of the changes were successful, but none of the photo album contents were published - that is, they are just empty pages except for navigation bars and headers -no photos.
I have re-published successfully to a folder on my desktop with no missing content, but I don't know what this tells me. Why can I publish to a folder, but not to the site on the Web? I will be grateful to any or all who can explain what I'm missing or doing wrong.
Thanks, Rudd

Same issue here. I actually am able to see my test website in Firefox but not in Safari. Check this out:

  • How can I publish my website from iWeb?

    I have created a Website on iWeb - but did not realize that I would not be able to publish via MobileMe. I cannot publish on a local folder. How can I get my site online?
    Thanks!

    You will need to find a 3rd party webhost for your website, I have been using IX Webhosting for several years now with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across.

  • How can i import my old website into iweb

    hi,
    my harddrive crashed and I lost all my data. When I set up OSX for new I downloaded my website (www.et-voila.net) from my ftp and I wanted to import to i-web. But I found no possibility do this.
    How can I work on my old (i-web made) Website with my new i-web (i-web '08)? There must be a possibility!!
    thanks for your help

    "iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but *there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb*. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up."

    Did you find an answer on this, or give up? I've done the latter, and recommend that you also consider buying a more useful application for this purpose.
    This really is an unbelievably silly oversight on Apple's part to "break" our webpage interface so that users lose their website (which I did by trying to link iweb to it) or cannot edit it in any way after a new install nor find it for edit from another machine (like my laptop).
    The whole idea of this "basic" software was that we users don't need to be "savvy". But this takes savvy to a whole new level.
    I recommend you, find some freeware or just buy a decent app, that actually allows you to download the website into it (like the Netscape Communicator's built-in webpage editor used to do). It allowed the user to save the currently loaded webpage, edit it, and publish it properly.
    Good luck to us all.

  • How do I publish multiple websites from iweb?

    Hi, I'm new with iweb and .mac in general and wanted to know about publishing multiple accounts from my iweb.
    I bought a five-user edition of .mac last week and I wanted to get at least three different websites up and running. One site is almost 50% done and has uploaded just fine but when I tried to create another site in iweb, I have no idea where it's going. I created a second account in .mac and it shows up (I can log into and everything) but how can I publish to my brand new site without the other one going through each and every time?
    This question may sound really dumb but please bear and mind that I'm a newbie with iweb and mac (I just got this powerbook in Sept. 2006).
    Thanks in advance,
    Dale

    Actually, Dale, this is a pretty common question.
    If you want the different sites to load to different .mac accounts (or different sub accounts), the easiest solution is probably to set up several different user accounts on your computer, one for each .mac sub account. In each of those accounts, set the appropriate .mac info in system preferences. Seems like I've heard of another approach, but this is probably the simplest.
    Have you already started building a second site in the same user account (on your computer) as the first site? If so, we'll need to walk you through domain separation, too.
    One other heads up: it is very important to back up your domain files (in your case in each account). The domain file is found in ~/library/Application Support/iWeb, where ~ refers to your home folder for your user account on the computer. Make sure to make a backup copy (preferably on an external hard drive or CD) after every major change in your website. Don't be lulled into thinking that a published website serves as a backup. It is not possible to import a published site back into iWeb. The domain file is your only link to creating/editing the site in iWeb.
    Please post back if you have any questions or if I haven't been clear.

  • Can you link to another website in iWeb?

    Hi everyone,
    Is there a way in iWeb to use a page to navigate to another website i.e. Blogger?
    Many thanks!

    I'm sure it can be done in iWeb :
    Add a link to the navbar
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    theNavUL = parent.document.getElementById('widget0-navbar-list');
    theLiVar = '<li class="noncurrent-page"><a href="home.html">Home</></li>';
    // At the beginning
    theNavUL.innerHTML = theLiVar + theNavUL.innerHTML;
    // At the end
    theNavUL.innerHTML += theLiVar;
    // -->
    </script>
    Or use the method on this page :
         http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/global/
    Or use this code :
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    theNavUL = parent.document.getElementById("widget0-navbar-list");
    TheLi = parent.document.createElement("li")
    TheLi.innerHTML = "<a href='Tuinproject.html'>More</a>";
    TheLi.className = "noncurrent-page";
    theNavUL.appendChild(TheLi);
    // -->
    </script>

  • How can I stop videos on websites from automatically playing?

    On many sites like Forbes and Accuweather, videos automatically start playing when I load the site. Not only is this annoying, the video also draws unnecessary bandwidth when I tether from my Verizon smartphone.
    Is there any way through Firefox to prevent autoplay of videos on websites?
    There used to be a plugin available, but no longer.
    http://just-ask-kim.com/stop-auto-play-videos-audios-firefox/

    Adblock Plus can also block some of them if you never want to see them again.
    But you could also use this option from Firefox:
    Type in the address bar:
    ''about:config''
    Then search for:
    ''plugins.click_to_play''
    Double click and it will be set to true.

  • Can't access locally hosted website from behind the router, but can outside

    Hi, I recently had to be moved from ATT DSL to U-verse. At home I host a small non-commercial website with a domain name registered, listening on port 80.  I can access the website if signed in to my employer's VPN at home, but not from any machine in my home network.  This worked for a few days after switching, but then suddenly stopped working. Any idea what's going on and if it can be fixed? Since I can get to it from VPN, I assume folks outside of U-verse can see it.  How about folks with U-verse as their ISP?  The web site is http://www.jtlanguage.com. Thanks. -John

    I suspect that the U-Verse RG is smart enough to see that the IP address you are attempting to route to is itself, and it is not applying the port forwarding to traffic coming from internal addresses as it is from external traffic arriving (since the traffic is coming from behind the firewall, not outside it).  If this is the case, you could put a hosts file entry on your local machines to identify the internal IP address rather than the external IP address for the web server, so that the computers go directly to the machine behind the firewall.

  • How can I login to a website from LabVIEW, for example to Hotmail ?

    I'd like to use the Data Socket Write VI to be able to give my
    loginname and my password from LabVIEW 6i. I really don't know how
    this VI works, and/or if this is possible.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your inquiry regarding website login. I understand that you would like to logon to Hotmail using LabVIEW 6.i. DataSocket however, is used to send and receive data between computers running LabVIEW. One possible solution is to use ActiveX events to run an internet browser window on the front panel of your VI. I assume however, that you would like LabVIEW to automate this task. Unfortunately Hotmail is a secure site using Microsoft Passport .NET. .NET is supported by LabVIEW 7.0 but the .NET control of Passport would have to be provided by Microsoft. The following link is a great resource to learn more about the .NET single-login system.

    I hope this resource helps. Let me know if you wo

  • After uploading my page, I can no longer access my website on IWeb

    I web will load, But I cannot update my site or even add pages or start a new site...  Suggestions?

    Try the following:
    delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    Click to view full size
    launch iWeb and try again.
    If that doesn't help continue with:
    move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
    launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
    go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
    move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • How to publish website from iWeb ?

    Hi Apple Geniuses
    I have downloaded Server 2.1.1 thought I would be able to publish my website after losing MobileMe hosting. I would love to publish it again but the process with Server seems to be more complicated, not to say...less straight forward. I have tried some couple of thing but unsuccessfully.
    Would anyone of you recommend the step to follow using Server software only (and not recommending any third party website please) to enable the publishing of my website. Alternatively , does anyone would recommend tutorial on how to use Server to publish website.
    To all of you, in advance, Thank you.
    Fred

    Hi Mark
    I grately appreciate your support and the first couple of steps were easy to follow. However , I'm quite puzzled with the last paragraph in regard to DNS, DynIP, CNAME...
    When I have allocated the folder , it did change the TCP from 80 to 443 and I manually reset it to 80...is that where you told to direct the TCP to?
    Here is a snap shot of my setting
    Let me know if I'm going the right route thank you.

  • Tranferring a website to iweb

    Does anybody know if I can somehow transfer my yahoo website to iweb. I cannot launch pagebuilder on my macbook and I am very frustrated. Also, not very good with computers so be very general with information please.

    No. iWeb has no import facility so this is not possible. You will have to start over and re-build your site in iWeb.
