Can't reset date/time

The date and time have changed to March of 2001 and my iBook has all but quit working. At first it would only boot up to a black screen with a text error message "/system/library/startupitems/Cron-execution of startup script failed". It would not get to my desktop. I booted off of the install disc and used disk utilities to repair permission. Then I rebooted in SAFE MODE. It booted up to my regular desktop after an error message that the clock needs to be reset, but System Preferences comes up only momentarily and then quits before I can reset the clock. I tried to delete the plist but it will not delete no matter what method I use. Appleworks is the only program that will start. I also did the PMU reset procedure as described in the Apple web site. Suggestions?

In Panther (OS X 10.3), you need to choose Installer > Open Disk Utility in order to run Repair Disk. Select the hard drive in the left column. Choose the First Aid tab. Click Repair Disk to test and repair the hard drive.
Once you have repaired the hard drive with the Install disc's Disk Utility, then start up normally and repair permissions from Disk Utility in the Utilities folder on the hard drive again.
If problems persist with the clock, try resetting the PMU again with the reset button:
• If the computer is on, turn it off.
• Disconnect the AC power adapter.
• Remove the battery.
• Press and release the reset button located above the Audio/Video port on the left side of the iBook (Dual USB) computer by inserting the end of a paper clip into the small hole and gently pressing the switch once.
• Wait 5 seconds.
• Reconnect the AC power adapter.
• Put the battery back in the computer.
• Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
If you continue to have problems with the time, go to Finder > Your Short User Name > Library > Preferences and drag the com.apple.systempreferences.plist to the desktop.
Restart and see if you can now set the clock. You will have to reset your preferences.

  • Can't configure date/Time Change by command in W7

    Hello,
I need to synchronize all my computers, we got a program who does that (and it works), but not on Windows 7.
Doing a research I found that is for the administrator privileges. I assume there are two ways for solving my issue.
     1) Launch the command as administrator.
     2) Change the privileges of who can change the date/time.
About 1), I haven't found nothing of how I can launch it as administrator by program. I know I can do right click and "Launch as administrator" but I need to do it without a mouse and keyboard.
About 2), I already did this: Edit Group Policy/Local Policy/User Rights Assignment/Change the system Time. And I set it to "All Users". But it doesn't work.Yes, I reboot after changes.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

If you mean to synchronize time in Windows 7 and assume we are in a domain environment, the first blog shared by britishdhez is a good reference.

  • Can't reset dates of scanned photos

    Can anyone help?
After I scan old photos into the organizer in Photoshop Elements 6, I always change the date of the photo to the actual date or year that it was taken. (Edit/Adjust Date and Time/Set Date and Time)
The incredibly frustrating thing is that for every photo, if I type in the year (such as 1955), the Set Date and Time screen will always save it as a year earlier (1954). (I type the correct data, then close the screen. If I return to the screen, I discover it has changed to the incorrect data.) The same incorrect year appears in the EXIF metadata saved with the photo.
If I type in the year and month (such as December 1965), the Set Date screen will always save it as a month earlier (November). Again, the incorrect month appears in the EXIF data.
If I type in the year, month and day (November 16, 1983), it will be saved as a day earlier (Nov 15).
ONLY if I specify the HOUR the photo was taken (in addition to day, month and year) will it save it correctly. But of course with most old photos, the hour (and even the day and month) are often not known.
Does anyone have an idea what’s going on here? It’s driving me crazy.
    Many thanks.
    Don
PS: Is there any way to gang-write Notes for photos. I often put something in the Notes section under a photo’s properties in the organizer, but I don’t see any way to put the same note with multiple photos: I end up having to laboriously copy the same note into each photo, one at a time.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
The incredibly frustrating thing is that for every photo, if I type in the year (such as 1955), the Set Date and Time screen will always save it as a year earlier (1954). (I type the correct data, then close the screen. If I return to the screen, I discover it has changed to the incorrect data.)
This is a known bug in the Edit > Adjust Date And Time command for PSE 6, 7, and 8.  The date/time is getting correcly recorded in the catalog and the photo's EXIF the first time you give the command.  (Do View > Details and make sure the thumbnails in the Organizer are large enough so that you can see the date/time under each one.)
But if you give the Adjust Date And Time command a second time for a photo, the fields are pre-populated incorrectly.  If you cancel from the command at that point, rather than click OK, the date/time of the photo will remain unchanged.
So even though the date/time is getting recorded correctly the first time you give the command, there are other good reasons not to use unknown month/day/time values:

It's frustrating that Adobe doesn't care enough about its customers to fix such simple bugs.

  • Can't reset my time capsule using reset button and I don't have the password to get into reset it.

I can't reset my time capsule b/c the reset button broke off when my time capsule fell off my shelf. I can't remember the password to the disk or time capsule to do a manual reset and I can't access the time capsule. Any suggestions around this?
    Thanks.

Bob's suggestion is the best, as the old passwords should be stored on that computer.
If you need to do it .. the hard way.. just open the TC.
You need a heat gun (hair dryer on hottest setting works fine).. to heat the rubber mat up to very hot.. I usually take 5min or more just heating it, evenly as possible. Lift on one corner and keep heating whilst peeling off the rubber. I use a pair of leather garden gloves as it needs to be so hot you cannot hold it for long.
Really hot the rubber easily peels off with all the glue on the rubber.
Now undo the 10 small philips head screws and carefully lift up the aluminium base plate. There is a fan plugged into the board so don't pull. You can disconnect the plug carefully and lift it completely off.
You can then press the reset switch with a small screwdriver or the like.. careful not to short anything if you use metal.
The plastic lever should still be rolling around inside the TC.. when I look carefully at the plastic, the lever is inserted later.. not part of the one moulding.. there are two plastic stakes, which are heated and bent down like a rivet to hold the lever in place. You may be able to relocated the lever onto the plastic stakes with some glue.. use a good 5min epoxy rather than instant glue.. although on ABS plastic the instant glue works very well. Use the glue under and on top but a tiny amount, otherwise you will simply glue the lever to the body and it will never work again. You might be able to make it stay.. just be very gentle if you ever need to press it again.
You can try a more permanent repair.
Plastic flexing as hinges is not an engineering solution .. but you can get a scrap of metal, thin brass would be ideal... drill a hole in one end and use a small dia screw.. I would tap it and run a screw from the inside, using a short screw so only the end of the screw is visible. Coat the inside with silastic so it cannot short anything. Depends on your handyman type skills I guess.
Strange that it would break.. Must have hit hard!!

  • How can I stamp date & time

    Hello,
How can I stamp date&time on my photos which taken by my iphone 4
    Regards
    Yasser

Easy - if it is on the photo and you can see it then it is on the photo and
You can not [remove it] - you can sort of obscure it using the retouch in iPhoto and if you have PhotoShop or PhotoShop elements the clone tool will do a better job
It is part of the photo and there is nothind "behind" it to show - in the future do not set your camera to include it
The EXIF data ia internal to the photo and is never shown on the photo - it can ony be seen using special software that understands it and then it is displayed seperate form the photo never on the photo - like the info pane in iPhoto which shows selected EXIF information

  • HT201514 Can I reset my time capsule and restat

Can I reset my Time capsule and re start?

You do not need to reset to restart.
    Reset means changing settings..
Restart means power off.. power on. Since it doesn't have a power switch we just pull the power cable usually.
I am unclear what the question is though?

  • IPhone upgrade to 3.1.2. resets date time - no daylight saving

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to the new OS: 3.1.2 recently. I noticed the date & time were reset to some time way in the past so I reset them to the current date & time. I notice now there's no way in the Settings | General |Date & Time to automatically have the date & time synced with your PC and the iPhone doesn't take allowance of daylight saving time - I added London as a city for keeping track of my time and the Clock shows it as 10 hours behind Sydney time rather than 11, which would be the case if Sydney was set at daylight saving time.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my iPhone to recognise daylight saving time again? I can't see anywhere on the iPhone or iTunes to do it, I've tried resetting my iPhone. Nothing is working.

I don't see a DST option either. I assume that Set Date & Time automatically did set from the phone network and that would include DST corrections. Mine is correct now and we are on DST here. Manual says:
"Set whether iPhone updates the date and time automatically: Choose General > Date & Time and turn Set Automatically on or off.
If iPhone is set to update the time automatically, it gets the correct time over the cellular network, and updates it for the time zone you’re in.
Some carriers don’t support network time in all locations. If you’re traveling, iPhone may not be able to automatically set the local time."

  • How can I display date+time and not the point number in excell?

    Hi everyone,
Could anybody tell me how I can save date + time to a file, so that  I can display on a diagram(excel) : date+time in (ox) and data (oy)? :
My program sets in (ox) the point number and not the date+time....( although  date and time are written correctly in the column...)
    Any help would be great,
    Thanks,
    regards,
    Marc

    hi there,
excel uses 01.01.1900 00:00 as the time offset, LabVIEW uses 01.01.1904 02:00, so you can't display the correct datetime in excel when you write the time as a fractional number of seconds from LabVIEW. you must format the datetime in LabVIEW to a string and write that to the column. use the "Format Date/Time String" - function and for example "%d.%m.%Y %H:%M:%S%3u" as the format string (see the functions help for more examples). you also could format your data to a string using "Format Into String" - function and write the file as a 2D string array. the decimal point you have to use depends on your system and its settings, but you can specify the decimal point in the Format string like "%.;%f" (means fractional number with point as decimal point).

    Hi
I am using Oracle Webcenter Imaging 11.1.1.5, when i search for a document and view it, under History tab i have following information available.
    Date and User
The date specifies the date when it was modified and user specifies UserName who modified it.
I want date time over there instead of date.
Can someone help me how to achieve this?

However, when I look at the execution plan, I see that the last predicate (to_number(answer) > 0) has been executed the first. Henceforth, it checks many rows first. Normally, 75 rows belong to 31/12/2012 as you see from the following. Can I specify the execution order?According to the execution plan, it will do a full scan of surveys using the predicate on insertdate to build the (presumably in-memory) hash table (hash based on survey_id) to do the joins (Step 2). Then, it does a full scan of the answers table using the question_uid and answer predicates (Step 3). For each row it finds that matches those predicate, it will prpobe the hash table created in step 2 using the hashed value of survey_seq_id. So, it is doing the insertdate predicate first.

TO_NUMBER("A"."ANSWER")>0)it is not implicit conversion, I reckon it is explicit type conversion, isnt it?
No, it is an implicit type conversion. Your code says answer > 0, since the answer column is a varchar2 column, Oracle implicitly converts the answer column to a number to compare against the number on the right side of the comparison. Note that if something like 'A' ever becomes a valid answer, then this query will fail with ORA-01722: invalid number.
    >

Obviously "A"."ANSWER" is not a number colmun, problably varchar, so use something like
    A.ANSWER != "0"
    or
A.ANSWER > "0"Yes answer column is varchar2 but can you type A.ANSWER > "0" as a predicate? I mean, you can not varchar > varchar, can you?
Of course you can use inequality predicates on a varcahr column. Is the string A greater than the string B?
Based on the explain plan, your statistics might be a little off, not hugely so. The esitmates are at least in the right order of magnitude based on what you have posted so far.
What indexes, if any, are available on the two tables?

  • How can I change Date/Time output?

I was wondering if someone could help with the following
    issue:
I have a form to insert data into a database. I also have a
form that displays the data and allows you to update (change or
modify) the data. The problem is my Date/Time field. Instead of
displaying the data as it should in this format:
    3/23/2007
It instead displays the data in the following format
    2007-03-23 00:00:00.0
So no matter what you would like to modify or change, you
have to change the date back to the correct format or you will
receive an error message. This is obviously a pain.
Is there a way I can change the way this particular data is
    displayed from the database?
Within my access database I have formatted the time correctly
and it displays the info correctly, not sure how to do it in
Dreamweaver. I’m using ColdFusion as my programming platform.

Nevermind, I just figured it out =)

  • Hi,  how can i reset my time capsule ?

Is it safe to unplug the power line to reset the time capsule ?

What you are asking about is a restart.  It's OK to pull the power plug if there are no other devices backing up to the Time Capsule at the time.
If you don't want to pull the power cable, it is possible to restart the Time Capsule using AirPort Utility. If you do not know how, tell us what operating system you are using on your Mac.
Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About This Mac and post back with the OS X  Version that you see there.
