Can't reset display after online game
I just tried an online demo of Runescape (web-based online adventure game). It seems to have changed my display settings -- my display is now a little blurry, maybe slightly stretched, and sort of unstable (when I move the mouse, the display wavers a little bit). This happens ONLY on my account on the iMac. My dad's account and my sister's account are completely unaffected. However, every time I log into my account, the display is a little distorted.
Does anyone know how I can re-set my display to the original high resolution. Or does anyone know what file(s) got corrupted?

Some web pages can NOT be displayed after installing grid control 10g R3
I deployed grid control 10.2.0.3 on Linux x86-64 platform this week, but when I tried to logon the console. the Logon page can NOT be displayed. After manually directing to home page, the page showed up. I browsed several modules and found some pages work, some not. Did anyone have the same problem on the latest R3(10.2.0.3) for Linux X86-64? I use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (update 3) for AMD 64bit Blade server as the OMS and repository server.

Error can't open display after reboot
Hi,
I encounter this problem :
I just install SSGD 4.2 on Solaris 10 01/06 T2000 server. After installation I can connect to the SSGD using browser from my notebook, and can try the various demo (dtterm, xclock etc)
I reboot the Solaris 10 OS.
After reboot I tried to login again via browser in my notebook and try to run the various demo.
I can login, but almost all the demo failed to execute, the X applications give error "can't open display:" with no hostname following the error.
The only demo still runs is the vt420 demo
Anybody can help me to point out what causes the problem ? I am trying to demo this SSGD software to a customer.

Adrianus B. KurnadiI've noticed this as well, under Solaris 10 FCS, Solaris 10 U1, and Solaris Express nv_39.
However, I have tried it out under S8 02/04, and S9 09/04 and I do not have this problem after rebooting the host at all.
For the hell of it, I (rather badly) converted the S89/S90 startup scripts to be SMF manifests with S90Tarantella having a dependancy on tS89TarantellaWebServer as I thought perhaps there was a strange issue with the tta process starting before the web service had fully started (beats me why it would matter, ends up it didn't) - as my test S10 host is a slow Netra T1.
I'd be interested to know what the difference is between it being started up via an rc2.d script and the root user logging into the system console running /opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella start. I haven't even bothered starting to try to observe the environment differences between startup via SMF in S10 and init.d in S8.

VERY annoying thing with XServer "Can't open display" after a while
This issue is *very* annoying I would love if someone could help.
I had this issue for a long time, thinking I'll fix it. I googled, but everybody seems to have the same problem, but no fix (only temporary ones).
So here's the problem : I installed archlinux on my (very old) laptop, everything works great, now I even installed the XServer, which however is causing this problem:
everything works good for a while, but after a while, I can't launch any new programs, but existing ones work good... If I try to start any X-App in an already running terminal, it gives me:
No protocol specified
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: :0.0
However, all already running apps run fine, they even can create new windows!
The only fix I found for this is to kill & restart the xserver with ctrl+alt+backspace.

Xclock Error: Can't open display: - after upgrading to openSSH 5.2p1
I have got two servers apssvrX and apssvrZ on OEL. Both were built by the same team using their standard build scripts.
Having received the servers I had installed Oracle (ODI) product on it successfully.
Then as a part of requirement and as per Oracle support's advise, I had upgraded the ssh version on apssvrX server from OpenSSH_4.3p2 To OpenSSH_5.2p1, so that, I can implement the chroot jailing.
As per Oracle advise, I had downloaded the 3 RPMs from "_http://layer1.rack911.com/openssh/rhel5/x86_64/" to run them on my first server i.e., apssvrX and then configured the sshd services following the below steps:
a) Modify /etc/ssh/sshd_config to comment the below line:
#Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server
b) Add below lines:
Subsystem sftp internal-sftp
Match Group sftponly
ChrootDirectory %h

My problems started from this point onwards. I want to install another Oracle product using OUI, but when I try to execute xclock using the Exceed HummingBird tool on apssvrX server then it fails with the error - (xclock) Error: Can't open display:
I tried the DISPLAY variable setup as well but to no use.
Whereas I can successfully execute the xclock on apssvrZ and OUI as well. Its config details are as below:

How can I reset Pages after a failed update attempt?
I tried to download an update to Pages while away from home and my WiFi network. The updater instructed me to either download the update from a WiFi connection or to use my MacBook to download the update and sync my iPad afterward. Home is 700 miles away, and I don't have access to either my MacBook or to my home network. The problem is that the Pages icon is sitting on the desktop waiting for the update to start. I can't launch Pages until I either go home or find a WiFi connection that will permit downloading the update. Is there a way to reset Pages right now so I can use the application without updating it? I've tried powering down the iPad and restarting it, but that has not helped.

I agree with you totally! Obviously, there's something terribly wrong with Apple's latest iTunes version 10.5 and it seems that everyone (including me) is experiencing major problems.
I don't even have any minor problems with it and neither do millions of others, so "everyone" does not have major problems.

After update to 24.0 all Firefox icons were reset. Not just the Mozilla Firefox icons, but all shortcut icons, incl frequent sites, tasks, Pinned shortcuts. Shortcuts even inside the browser are set to rectangle with blue banner at the top with red and blue dots inside.
Hi Thomas, that icon doesn't sound familiar, but if it's the default icon, it could indicate some corruption in the Windows icon cache. These articles have steps to repair that, but I've never tried it myself:

Can't reset password after migrating from pc to iMac
i just bought an imac. i migrated everything over from my pc. it had me create a user name for a new account on my imac. when it was done i tried getting into my account and it asked for a new password. no matter what i try it wont take the new password. im locked out of my stuff from my other computer. what do i do or what am i doing wrong?

CNA 5.8.7 can't reset authentication after "authentication failed"
I have had a successful setp up of a community in CNA 5.8.7. I went to include another new device (add to community) that had a different authentication than all the other community switches. In adding the device I added by attempting with wrong credentials and got the "authentication failed" for the right reason. When I discovered the correct credentials I again attempted to re-add the device and I keep getting "authentication failed" without the opportunity to reauthentciate with my newly discovered credentials. An authentication loop is occuring without me being able to correct it.

I have tried to reproduce the issue like what you have explained in issue description. CNA working fine to me.
Could you please verify device credentials once again and check wheather http/https are enabled on the device or not?

How to reset display settings?
My Sharp TV only support 1080i, so I use a DVI-DVI cable to connect a monitor, then use Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter connect Sharp TV.
Then boot Mac mini, I got Open Screen on Monitor, and I set HDMI adapter to 1080i, then I power off and unplug DVI cable and boot again.
Well, I got what I want on Sharp TV, it is 1080i, but I found a 720p, I selected it, now the TV becomes to black screen with "Invalid video signal"!
I reconnect monitor, so Sharp TV is ok, but if I unconnect monitor, the sharp TV will be black screen.
I thought it might be some display settings are saved, because it was good when I first use TV after set to 1080i, but I selected 720p that is PAL TV, not for mine NTSC TV, after that selected, THe sharp TV can't be used alone, how can I reset display settings? what can I do for this case?
Please help me, GOD!In the folder of your main user account, which is generally a folder with your name on it, find and open the Library folder. Then in the Library folder open the Preferences folder. In the Preferences folder open the folder named ByHost. Inside that folder is a file called com.apple.windowserver.xxxxxxxxxxxx.plist where xxxx is a string of numbers and letters. Drag that file out onto the desktop and restart the mini.
When OS X restarts, if it finds the above mentioned file missing from the expected location, if should build a fresh copy of the file in the original location. The fresh copy will have default values in it so the Mac will forget that bad setting that happened. Hopefully that will cause the display to work again. -

Captivate simply records what appears on your computer screen. So the trick is getting the iPad to display on your PC screen. There is an applicaton called Reflector that should allow this.

The reset link will only show if you have a rescue email address on your account - if you've just added an address then it will be an alternate/secondary email address, which is a different setting/address on your account (a rescue email address can only be added by answering 2 of your questions).
You will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use -
None of my online games work on my laptop. I updated Adobe Flash player but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I didn't see anything wrong with the old version and now there is definitely something wrong with this new version. Everything worked just fine last night and now none of it works. Why is that?

Is this a issue of the new xserver or the ati driver (i switched from catalyst to xf86-video-ati)?

After loading Yosemite on my iMac, my folders appear empty. My app folder looks like there is nothing in it, yet I can launch my apps from my dock. I have reinstalled Yosemite with no success. Any ideas?
