Can't reset or restore 60Gb iPOD photo

Hi, my iPOD photo suddenly shows an exclamation mark when I start up......so after following ur instructions etc, I try to enter into disk mode and try to reset first.....but when I run the latest iPOD updater.....it says "iPOD updater 2005-09-06 cannot continue because there are other application using iPOD. Pls close all iPOD application and try again.
FYI, I've removed iTunes after reading this but still it shows the same thing. I'm using a Window XP and connection is via Apple USB cable supplied to a USB2.0 hub. Firmware last updated is July 05 if I'm not wrong (cant check now since I cant get into the iPOD....any other means to check?).....I've ran a search on ur FAQS and discussions and tried wat is mentioned but cant work....brought it down to Apple support centre in Singapore (Orchard) and their solution is restore....so I decided to give it another try and wait another day but still cannot work...so I try to reset and restore....but I cant startup my iPOD updater.
I then goes into "My computer"....it shows my C drive but the iPOD shows drive E instead of D......and my name on iPOd - rey ipod is changed to Apple ipod
When I double click the Apple ipod, its says "Please Insert a Disk into drive E".....I cant even eject from my computer now.....
PLEASE HEEELP as I do not wish to lose my music files and data I've stored in the iPOD photo 60GB....btw, its still under warranty
Prior to this happening, I've connected my iPOD to a colleague Window XP to transfer some data files I've stored within the iPOD. The drive is E btw as he got 2 HDD on his PC.

I've tried on my frenz PC.....WIN XP and Win 98......also cannot recognize.....on XP, once plug in, i asked me to format my iPOD....then Win98 says no driver....need to install driver.....
Then I tried going to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management
It shows my C drive HDD but under E drive(suppose to be D drive cos i only got 1 HDD and nothing plugs into my USB etc) it shows Disk 1 (unreadable)
Help....wats next.......I cant even use iPOD updater to reset or restore.

  • 60gb ipod photo keeps freezing and skipping through songs

I've had my 60gb ipod photo for almost a year and it keeps freezing and skipping through songs and sometimes it won't respond to a reset. I have to let the battery run down in order to use it again. I have restored it several times and it seems to keep happenning at least once a week.I have the latest software for it. Is there any thing else I can do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync what you  want
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • If I reset or restore my iPod touch will all my apps be deleted? If so how do i get the bought one back ???

If i reset or restore my iPod touch will all my apps be deleted? If so what about the bought ones ?

    - A reset does not delete any media (apps, music etc) from the iPod.
    - A restore will delete apps, music and other media from the iPod.  If the media is in the iTunes library then a restore from backp will restore the media and after a restore to factory defaults/new iPod you can sync the media back to the iPod.
    - If not in the iTunes libray, you can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • 60Gb iPod Photo with Olympus 8080

Gearing up to buy a 60Gb iPod Photo and wonder what I will need to dock it with my Olympus 8080 and download photos from the Compact Flash card into the iPod Photo. Can someone point me in the right direction as to the options to achieve this.
    Thanks a bunch in advance.

Just to report back in order to hopefully help others with the same query. I purchased an iPod Camera Connector (M9861G/A) and can now import pics from the 8080 through the adapter and USB cable that came with the camera directly to iPod. It works a treat...........

  • 3 week old 60gb iPod Photo won't work

I bought a 60gb iPod Photo approximately 3 weeks ago. Very, very happy with my purchase even with the release of the video enabled Pod recently.
Anyway - this morning it refuses to work. It won't power up. Nothing. Blank screen.
Have tried all the resetting suggested in Apple support. Nothing. It just won't power up under any circumstances. (Tried plugging it to AC as well)
    Very frustrated.

Perhaps you should take it back to an Apple Store if possible, to have it checked.

how can i reset or restore my iphone after dropping it in water????

There are a lot of posts here about your problem, read a few of them and they all come back to switching the phone off immediately and have it in a very good closed bag of dry rice for a week and advisely swith the rice for a fresh charge of dry rice every week for a number of weeks when it was really submersed. Ckuan advice times 3. The iPhone has a detector which indicates whether the iPhone was in the water, Apple can give you an indication about the price first if you visit them.

Can an Apple store restore my iPod without loosing data?

The only way to unlock it is to follow the steps in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 or one of the similar knowledge base articles, which includes restoring the device.  If you have a current backup you can do that and remove the passcode.

  • 60GB iPod Photo & Bose Sound Dock

Just bought the 60GB iPod photo...I also own the Bose Sound Dock. Noticed that there is no 60GB adapter with the Sound Dock...in searching the web, it seems folks are using the adapter marked 20 GB / 40 GB, but that the fit is a snug. Is this the way to go? I'm hesitant to try it without any direction. Is there no 60GB adapter available?

I don't know about the Bose SoundDock. But I had been using my 3G 30GB iPod (which I believe is at least as thick as the 60GB iPod color) with my Altec Lansing iM3 without using any adapter and it works.

  • Can You Reset or Restore iPhone without iTunes?

Phone is seriously frozen, Can You Reset or Restore iPhone without iTunes?

I recently had a similar problem, turn the phone off, once off, hold down the home button, until you see a icon of a white usb wire with the words, connect to iTunes.
connect the phone to a usb port on your computer, iTunes will boot up, and the restore process will begin, make certain you are connected to the internet, since, once the process is completed, the phone will require activation, as well as need to download the restore software....

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Folder w/ exclamation mark/can't get to menu/can't reset or restore/HELP!

First off, I had never updated my iPod since I received it, so I decided I would finally do that. So I went to the site and downloaded the update and that is where the problem began. Now my iPod has a folder with an exclamation mark and I can't get to the menu or anything. It doesn't show up on iTunes, but my computer recognizes that the usb is attached, but i can't find the ipod itself on the computer. I've tried resetting, restoring... pretty much everything the website tells me to try. This is really frustrating since I just got it... I would be really appreciative for any feedback !!!
    Thanks=)

But then if later i want to synch again as i have added new stuff it won't. When i try to restore it to the factory settings to try and resolve it my ipod dissapears from the list and it says restoring my ipod but nothing happens. The progress bar just goes across forever and my ipod comes out of the do not disconnect mode and i can disconnect it. Any ideas on how i can restore it please???

  • Can't get videos to 60GB iPod Video

So a few days ago, I updated to iTunes 7.0 and Firmware 1.2. All my videos are in an MPEG-4 format, and now I can't get them to my iPod. They all used to play, but I restored it and now they won't even go on to the iPod. I've also got got it set to manage music and videos manually. I tried to use iTunes to convert it to see if that would help, but when it converts, the new file doesn't appear. And I've been looking back on other topics and it has mentioned the converter called Videora, so I checked that out, but it says it only supports Windows. So how do I get my videos to my iPod?
    Thanks in advance.

Are these music videos located under Videos on your iPod?  Do it play other regular movies (if you have any on the device)?

  • Can anyone help me restore my ipod touch 2nd gen?

Hi there. I am trying to update the software on my ipod touch but I keep getting an error code that states I can't restore it. Error code is 1-
    Any tips?

Hi. Error code 1- indicates that you are unable to update or restore your iPod. To solve this problem you need to put your device into recovery mode. Before you begin ensure that you have some charge in your device.
You should first disconnect your iPod from your computer and make sure it is turned off. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
When you next open itunes it will notify you that your device is in recovery mode and will ask you to restore it. It should all work after this.
If your still unsure take a look at this  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Hope this helps, Ben
