Can't restore a corrupt iPod classic?

So my iPod nano 6th gen died on me last night so I decided to dig out my iPod Classic %th gen and see if it worked. I turned on fine so I was like "Happy days!" untill I pulgged into iTunes.
When I plug it in I get this message:
So I went through the steps and then this came up:
I thought the problem was fixed but as soon as I plug it back in that process just starts all over again and I'm getting really frustrated with it. Is there any hope for it or am I stuck with a brick?

Try the DFU Restore method shown in Corrupt iPod classic.

Hello, I bought a 160 GB iPod classic in December 2013. I have had no issues with it until recently i open iTunes and it tells me that my iPod is corrupted. I have tried reconnecting it, turning my computer on and off again, holding down the menu and center button, putting it in disk mode etc. I was just wondering if anyone has anyway they can fix this issue?
    Thanks,

  • HT1351 I have an Ipod classic which was the original device connected to Itunes.  I connected an Iphone 4S and can no longer see my Ipod classic.  How do I once again get it connected?

I have an Ipod classic which was the original device connected to Itunes.

The right way to consolidate your music is to copy it from one computer to another. You can copy music from an iPod classic though:
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329
When the music is all in the same library, sync the Touch.
You will still need to authorize your computer to play purchased music. For that, use the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.

That link seems to be broken.  It does normally lead to a solution. For the time being go to
    http://www.google.com/search?q=ipod+classic+disk+mode
Let your mouse hover over the link until you see the option appear on the right to view the cached version Google contains:
Putting iPod devices with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode
If necessary, verify that your iPod has a Click Wheel.
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it is charged.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will should say "Do not disconnect".
If you are having difficulty putting your iPod into Disk Mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center. If you are still unable to put your iPod into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.
If you have an older iPod model, without a Click Wheel
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it has a charge.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons until the Apple/iPod logo appears, then release them. This resets iPod. When you reset iPod, all your music and data files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost.
When the Apple logo appears, immediately press and hold the Previous and Next buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod should say "Do not disconnect".
If you have an iPod nano (6th generation)
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode,  verify that it has a charge.
Reset the device by pressing the Sleep and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the display turns black. This should take about eight seconds.
When the display turns black, hold down the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk mode.

  • Can I charge my 2013 ipod classic with my original ipod classic firewire charger?

Nope, I'm sorry. iOS/iTunes only (you need a connection to your network, and the iPod classic doesn't have network capabilities).

  • Why Can't I Update My Ipod Classic to 2.0.5

    Dear Apple
I have heard that there is a 2.0.5 version for the IPod Classic but when i go to itunes and click on check for updates
it says 2.0.4 is the latest version why can't i update my ipod classic is there a problem please help me beacuse i dont
    understand it Thank You.

I am posting here in case someone can enlighten me.
My wife recently acquired an iPod classic 160 GB (MC297 – 2.0.4) and because of the volume cap imposed by EU, this it is not enough for me. I want to buy one too but with firmware 2.0.5 were I can chose to remove the EU volume cap.
The problem is, not only Apple doesn’t let you upgrade 2.0.4 to 2.0.5 but they also do not print on the box what firmware comes with the iPod that’s inside.
Also, most shops will not just unsealed the iPod for you to confirm what firmware are you “buying”.
I have been into a shop with an iPod on firmware 2.0.5 on display and the serial was 8K….ZU which by doing a search on Apple’s website, it was made late 2009. My wife’s iPod serial number starts and finishes with the exact number/letters, thus also being “late 2009” but with 2.0.4 firmware.
In other words, while I am aiming to get an iPod with the 2.0.5 firmware, it seems virtually impossible to be absolutely sure what are you getting inside the box.
Does anyone know what serial numbers are comprised the iPods with 2.0.5 firmware.
Also, the model of my wife’s iPod 2.0.4 is MC 297 QL/A. Does anyone knows what the “QL/A” stands for? I seems to remember that the iPod on firmware 2.0.5 being a QL/C but in can’t remember for sure.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. There is no limit to the number of iPods you can have synced with one iTunes account or library.
if i hook up ipod touch will i lose all of the stuff in library or can i sync library to ipod touch?
No you can sync your content to any number of devices.
Simply, plug new iPod in, configure it to sync with iTunes library however you wish and be on your way.

  • HT1766 Can I back up my Ipod classic ......

Can I back up my Ipod classic to my Itunes before I get a new battery tomorrow?

Not everything on my Ipod classic came from my computer. I have gotten a new computer several years after the purchase of my Ipod classic back in 2006. So my ipod has a different playlist than my Itunes library. Alot of it is the same, due to my taste in music, but alot is not on my itunes library that I would like from my Ipod Classic.

  • TS1372 What else can I try? My Ipod classic stays in restore mode. I have done each step listed above, some of them several times. Is my Ipod toast?

Anyone have an idea what I can try to restore my Ipod classic. I have followed each step listed in the support manual. Some of them several times. Each time I try and connect, it prompts me to restore, which I do. It then gives me the error 1439. What does this mean?

Check if your iPod is toast by doing the iPod Disk Diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2
It wont fix your problem, but help in troubleshooting.

  • "Itunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted" - Ipod Classic

I recently noticed little tiny jumps or skips appearing in songs on my 80GB ipod classic, so decided to restore it. Having done this I got the following message:
"Itunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."
Reconnecting it just brings up the same message. I have Itunes 9.0 and have noticed others here describing problems between the latest versions of Itunes and their iPods.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems to mine, or do I just have a faulty iPod? Sadly it's out of warranty, but it is just over 2 years old so I'll be pretty disgusted if it's already broken, as I've looked after it very well.
Any advice much appreciated - thank you!

Ok, I updated Itunes to 9.03, and so far it seems to have rectified the problem i.e. I'm no longer getting ipod corrupted message, and I can transfer all my songs onto it as normal. Whether it will solve the little ticks I'm hearing in songs throughout my library on the iPod, I've yet to see.
Sorry and good luck to those having similar problem that cannot find such an easy solution.

  • Corrupted iPod Classic

Hi, I have the iPod Classic for 1 year and 6 months and it started to corrupt.
Two days ago I've backuped musics, restored, and synced all back...today (01/02/2013) it corrupted again...
    I tried Floola, frooze.
    iTunes when I connect, frooze.
Some musics now are corrputed (I had 140gb>) and I can not redo the backup.
I'm very sad with apple, was a expensive no-quality product.

I had this problem a week after getting mine, I called apple and they replaced it. Since then I have had no issues. Try calling apple, talking to their tech support, and perhaps scheduling a replacement.
