Can't restore at all

something got messed up on my iphone 3gs on 4.0 software and i want to do a restore. but whenever i plug my iphone in , and click restore , it says "The Iphone cannot be restored at this time because the Iphone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailabe". been getting that for 3 days now ***

This is usually a USB problem. Either you are using a USB 1.1 port instead of USB 2, you are using a hub instead of a direct connection to the computer, or you have a bad cable.
Also make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed (7.5).
As you listed several computers in your profile, which are you using with the iPhone. Have you tried different computers?
This can also occur if you have hacked or unlocked the phone, but you didn't mention this so I'm assuming you didn't.

Can not restore from all Time Machine backup locations

I've just set up Time Machine in Mountain Lion to rotate backups between a Time Capsule (existing) and a Synology NAS (new).
When I select "Enter Time Machine" only the backups created on the NAS are shown.
How can I make Time Machine show restore points from both devices, or at least select a Time Machine location to restore from?
Backups are rotating and operating between the two without any issues.

You have to use the Browse Other Backup Disks option, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #17.

I have noticed that too from time to time, I generally move the files into the correct folder and fix the index in itunes when one won't open, occasionally.

Favor the route via iTunes and local storage on the computer. MUCH faster than any cloudy backup, no matter the speed of your Internet connection. No network beats the speed of a hard drive. Just make sure there's enough room on the computer before you start, must contain all that's on the iGadget.

but in backup log file i found this

When I moved to Lion I had to reconfigure my mailbox and all previous folders disappeared. How can I restore them? I have backip of everything in the Time machine but cannot find the folders and do not know how to import them when I do.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. How can i restore the Apllications for my ipod touch 4 8g? I accidentally reset all files and documents and cannot open again. Once i turned on the unit it only displays the apple logo. please help me.

Did you by chance have photo stream turned on? If so then they might be there. When you restored your phone it deleted everything and they will be unretreivable from your computer.
