Can't restore Folders e.g. Radio and Recently Added etc

I made a mistake and removed the wrong folders. Reading from the top, I have:
LIBRARY Music - Movies - Podcasts // STORE iTunes -Store - Shopping Cart - Purchased // PLAYLISTS [my own playlists are all there]
And that's all - I've uninstalled iTunes, downloaded the latest version, but it reinstalls exactly as above - i.e. I can't restore my iTunes to the default.
I've looked through Help, looked through a book I've got - no use! The reason I liked the default folders is (1) I could see at a glance "most recent additions", "radio stations" &c ...
Hope someone can help! - Thanks in advance.

I can't recall all the default playlists but they are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
"90s
Match the rule "Year">"is in the range">"1990">to>"1999"
You can do 50s, 60s, 70s & 80's by adjusting the range
Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
Top 25 Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most often played"
Recently Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most recently played" make the "limit to" to suit yourself.
Top Rated:
Match the rule "My Rating">"is">"5 Stars" You can make that as many stars as you like from 1 to 5. Or you can make your rule "My Rating">"is greater than">"3 Stars" for example.
For all of these also check the box "Live Updating"
You can read more about smart playlists here:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Smart Playlists.com
You should be able to get "Radio" to appear in the source list if you go to Edit>Preferences>General and beside Show: tick the box "Radio".

  • I have a Ipod touch and recently added new music to my itunes library on my laptop. When I sync with my ipod, the new music does not show up on my ipod even though the sync process seems to be working.

I have an Ipod touch and recently added new music to my Itunes library. When I sync with the library, the new music does not show up on my ipod. The sync process seems to be working and there is still plenty of space on the Ipod for new music so I'm not sure what the problem is!

What happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • Formatted HD, but have backup of all the folders and files of Firefox. How can I restore everything, including plugins, bookmarks and saved settings?

I have formatted my computer's HD because of a problem with Windows 7, the thing is that Windows 7 didn't start, so I couldn't backup my Firefox settings, bookmarks, plugins, themes, personas and etc. the right way.
I also don't have a Firefox Sync account.
What I do have are all the folders and files of Firefox, because I just created a new partition and installed Windows 7 again, what I'm having trouble is finding a way (if there's any) to restore everything from my previous installation to the new one.
I have searched for days on both Google and on te Firefox forum with no success, the only questions I found are about restoring a profile, but what I'm trying to do is the same thing that the Firefox add-on " FEBE " does, which is restoring everything to the previous configuration.
    Here's alink to the add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-br/firefox/addon/febe/
I have tried copying, pasting and overwritting from the " .default " folder to my new installation of Firefox (yes, Firefox was closed), but when I opened it again, nothing was restored.
I every single folder and file Firefox ever created on my computer, this includes the installation folder (at Program Files), the profile (.default at AppData) folder, the Mozilla folder (ProgramData) and the Mozilla Firefox folder (also at AppData).
I also had the FEBE add-on installed, but like stated before, unfortunately I couldn't start Windows 7, forcing me to create a new partition to install a new copy of the OS.
    Thanks in advance.
PS. Sorry if I made the text too long and/or if I mentioned the same things twice, just trying to be thorough.

    Hi Sdarts,
I apologize for the delay in replying to your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are having issues restoring your Firefox user data.
Please see the following article, which explains how to restore your Firefox user data using a previously backed up Profiles folder, which seems to apply to your situation:

  • Can't restore folders from Time Machine after Lion

    Hello guys,
after upgrading to Lion 10.7.1 I can't seem able to restore some old folders from Time Machine
Here's what happens: I log in TM, I can scroll through my old backups, I can choose the folders I want to restore, I can click on the folder, but when the systems tries to restore it, it stops saying that I don't have the privileges to access file A in the folder (and then all the procedure is stopped).
Oddly (at least for me) if I try to restore just that same file A (and not the whole folder) that I should have no privileges for, from the same old backup, I can do it, but I have to give the system my password: It pops up a window saying something "Finder is willing to make some modification, can you authorize?"  (forgive i'm translating the alert from another language) and then I can restore it.
Has anybody else this problem and how can be solved?
    Many thanks
Ps: I did a simple upgrade on Lion, no partition, no blank disk, and never changed anything in my user preferences, it's always the same, administrator
Pps: Before Lion I could restore easily exactly the same folders and files I tried to restore with Lion

But if I transfer everything with the Setup Assistant, won't I once again be experiencing the problems I had?
If the problems were caused by your data. But that's extremely unlikely. It may have been an app, or, much more likely from your description, something corrupted in the Leopard OS. That's one of the problems with upgrading a sick system without knowing what or where the causes are. It's a bit like a brain surgeon operating on himself: if he isn't in tip-top shape to start with, his condition is likely to change, and not for the better.
Most of us would have recommended first simply doing a +*Repair Disk+* on your internal HD; if that didn't help, installing the "combo" Leopard update; if that didn't work, doing an +Archive and Install+ and re-installing the "combo."
After a clean re-install of Snow Leopard, my Mac worked fine again (except for the TM trouble). So it probably had something to do with my old files.
Probably not. Much more likely OSX was somehow damaged. And you got a whole new one.
How come I could read the files on my external HD and yet not be able to copy the files?
Time Machine uses special "deny everybody everything" permissions on it's backups, among other things, in an attempt to keep us mere mortals from moving, changing, or deleting things and corrupting them.

If Firefox contains open / active tabs and is closed, those tabs (and their history) can (via a setting) be restored when Firefox is re-opened.
Can Safari restore its tabs when it's re-opened as well?

In my Safari for Windows (5.0.5) I've got a "Reopen all Windows from previous session" command. (In my History Menu.)

  • Can I restore my IPADs operating system and dump IOS7?

Like millions of other faithful IPAD owners, I too updated my system to ios7 last Wednesday.   Immediately following the update, I no longer was able to operate many beloved apps.   Can I restore my previous system and dump the ios7?

One of my favorite apps was Dish Network for IPAD.  After the ios7 update, I was no longer able watch movies. Other apps such as PBS won't run either.  I use some things on Dish and PBS for educational purposes in the classroom so the update has interfered with my personal and work usage.   Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Can you restore only the files that have recently changed with Time Machine?

    Greetings,
Before i ask my question,  i'll give a bit of background as to my issue.
I was editing my $PATH within the ~/.bash_profile file and accidently overwrote my $PATH. So now simple terminal commands such as open or 'ls' no longer work. In order to edit the file, I need to change the defaults to allow me to see hidden files, but I can't do that because the defaults command stopped working after I screwed up the $PATH. Also, I used the echo commadn to verify that the previous $PATH no longer exists. The environment variable now just points to an empty folder I accidently set it to in TextEdit.
So, I have Time Machine running, and it backs up to a Time Capsule. I have the hourly backups that I can restore to, but when I start the restore, it crawled up towards 200,000 files before I finally decided that wasn't right and decided to post a question (it's still "preparing to copy"). I had to select the OS X Volume to restore from my one hour old backup, since I can't restore the folder the bash_profile exists within (it is hidden) or so I assumed.\
Now my question, it seems that Time Machine is doing a full restore of every file in the backup and not just the files it incrementally changed between its hourly backups. Why does it do this? My restore process should have just been a couple of minutes, restoring a couple hundred or so files at most. Restoring several hundred thousand files seems stupid when the I select a backup that is one hour old. Is there anyway to set it up so I can restore incrementally?
    Thanks,
    Johnathon.

A quick note, I performed the restore from within the Time Machine while booted into OS X; the restore did not take place in the special bootup tool available. Why it does not provide an option to simply restore the files changed over the last hour is mind boggling to me

You are making this way too complicated. In Terminal, choose Shell > New Command…. In the text box that opens, enter bash --noprofile . A Terminal window will open that does not use your .bash_profile, so the bad $PATH will not be an issue. Now you can remove, move, or edit .bash_profile.

  • I can't get artwork for a specific album recently added

I can't get artwork for a recently added album. All other albums have thier proper artwork, no issues.  just Smashing Pumpkins...

    Hello, nicgeo.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
iTunes will only download album artwork for songs that it can find in the iTunes Store. iTunes will check each song in your iTunes library and attempt to match it up with a song in the iTunes Store. If the data matches, iTunes will download the album artwork from the iTunes Store and add it to the song in your iTunes library. If iTunes does not find a particular song's artwork in the iTunes Store, you will not see an alert message. iTunes simply does not download artwork for that song.  If the data does not match, you will have to add the artwork manually.

  • Album art and recently added songs not syncing to ipod.

They've synced before, but now when I've given album art to every song it doesn't sync. Nor have recently added songs. Nowhere to be seen on my ipod.
Then, on top of that, no matter how many times I've restored, authorized, and played around with my account, it randomly doesn't sync songs that I've bought from Itunes.
Help would be so, so much appreciated.

Are you syncing all music or selected playlists?

  • Songbird Damaged iTunes Meta Data and Recently Added List. Best way to fix?

    Hello, Apple forums.
A while ago (Long enough to fix some of the broken Meta data), I tried out Songbird as an alternative for when I'm gaming and want a little extra resources.
Unfortunately, I set it up to sync between iTunes and Songbird, and Songbird "updated" my iTunes information and removed META data in the process for any song played on Songbird.
It also had the recently added moved to "Songbird > Recently Added," and proceeded to fill it with every song in my library.
My music is stored on a Western Digital MyBook external HDD (320GB) formatted to FAT32.
I have fifteen playlists, and would like to retain ratings and play counts on the songs.
My library reads "8196 songs, 19:15:40:31 total time, 50.13"
Granted, a couple hundred of these are the ones missing the META data and are broken entries (IE has all the data listed but does not have the file where it should be) and their META-less version added from %library%\music\unknown artists\unknown album\
(The tracks retain their real name with the track number prefixing them, it's just a matter of going through all of the songs and matching them up)
Given that this is as it is, how should I go about this?
I would also like to keep the apps for my 2nd Gen iPod Touch (iOS Pois0ned 4.2.1).
All music is either imported from a CD or an independent artist.
I don't have access to all of the CD's, nor do I particularly want to manually re-add everything.
I am more concerned with the recently added playlist being fixed! I understand that I will have to cut my losses on the META data!

I thought you said Songbird had removed metadata. Most files carry metadata in a tag. If a file "goes missing" because another program chooses to relocate it iTunes will retain an entry in the library with all that information. The FindTracks script makes a bash at locating the moved files in a number of alternate locations, including the unknown artist/unknown album folder or the main Music folder. If the files have actually had metadata removed, but have a tag, then iTunes will read the damaged data and update itself. Not necessarily what you want. For files that are in a logical artist/album layout but don't have tags you could be better off repairing tags first with, for example, MediaMoney's AutoTag from Filename feature.
