Can't restore my iPhone or make it as a new iPhone
I want to restore my iPhone but I can't because it was said " iTunes could not restore ... iPhone because the backup session failed".
So, I wanted to make it as a new iPhone. But when I did that, iTunes said "iTunes cannot connect to the iPhone" or something like that.
iPhone 3GS 3.1.3
iTunes 9.1
Anyone knows why this problem occured? Thanks for your help. It would be a big help for me.
Try restoring on another computer... if it works, maybe it is a problem with iTunes or the OS.
Have you ever run some maintenance scripts or something on your computer?

You cannot. However, you can solve this problem by setting the iPhone as a new device and upgrading iOS in Settings -> Software Update.
After upgrading iOS, open Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings. Finally, Setup Assistant will let you restore the backup. -

Unfortunately you do not have direct access to iOS backs in iCloud.
I am not sure what you mean by:
It's locked with an enterprise (third party code)
Do you mean it is a corporate device and managed by Mobile Device Management software?
If so the IT department can reset the passcode.
Other than that, there is no third party iOS app that can lock the device at that level unless it is jailbroken and then no one here can help you. -
Why can't I download the free Apple apps for my new iPhone 5S? It was set up in store and restored from my iPod Touch 5.
Are you logged in with the same account that was used to activate the phone ? If you are, and the apps aren't showing as free, then try logging out of your account by tapping on it at the botto of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if they then show as free.

I took out my old iPhone 4 and tried to restore it from a backup i had just created a few hours ago on my 5s (iOS8) and the option was greyed out.
I could only see backups from a year back !

iCloud syncs my contacts, calendars and reminders, but i have to setup all the rest of the settings manually! I have 7 email accounts, mix of gmail, hotrmail, yahoo, 2 exchange, others, etc. lots of personalized settings, Apps that i need to download again and arrange in folders like before, ......big hassle!!!

Do you know why Notes would be linked to an email account? This seems to be an unnecessary complication, but there must be a good reason (Tim Cook says simplicity is Apple's controlling philosophy).

I upgraded itunes since a pop up stated that I would have to upgrade it so it can recognize my iphone5's new software. I upgraded the itunes and now when I plug in the iphone its asking "set up as new iphone" will this delete everything on my phone? Also why is it forcing me to set up as a new iphone, why doesn't it recognize it like it did before I upgraded iTunes. I'm afaid I will lose all my apps, music, pictures etc. please help. thank you.
You are correct. Corrupted files are in the backup. If you've already restored the iPhone it has been erased and starting over is the way to go in order to eliminate the corrupted files.

When restoring my backup from my old iphone via my computer to my new iphone, it gets all the way through the restore and then at the end it says there was an error and doesn't restore. Doesn't say what error.
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer

I bought and downloaded the Ricky Gervais' Audiobook series "A Guide To" last year off of my old iPhone. Since i bought my new iPhone the audiobook dont show up in my purchased items list. Is there a way I can retrieve them without having to pay again.Ty
Sorry, but audiobooks cannot be downloaded more than once without charge. You will need to have the audiobooks in iTunes on your computer so you can sync them to your new iPhone. If the audiobooks are not in iTunes and you don't have a viable backup, you may be out of luck. You can, however, contact the iTunes Store, explain the situation, and see if they can make an exception for you.

YES, that is the free 5GB icloud memory for each apple ID. Can I not add the free 5Gb of my second Iphone to my original apple ID (5GB also) as I want to use one Apple ID name on both 2 Iphones? Is it necessary to have a different apple ID for the second Iphone to avail the free 5GB it carries with it? -

You can have one icloud account and a different itunes account on the phone. I have my icloud account and a shared itunes account. He does not have to use the new icloud account as is ID in itunes and app store. He can keep using the old one.

I keep getting this "text" saying, "It's time to change your ringtone". What does that mean? I can't get this other ringtone to download to my new iPhone 5s. Wjosten's earlier suggest didn't help. Sorry. I tried what he said to do, but I could not get the ringtone "coqui" to download to the phone after connecting it to the iTunes stores and backing it up. The ringtone in question is in my library, but I cannot copy it or move it to my iPhone. Hope somebody can help.

Contact your local Apple store to inquire if they offer a trade-in program. Keep in mind you will get significantly more by selling the device yourself.
