Can't restore my previous session

Hi-
I usually keep around 12 tabs open with intention of getting around to reading them.
This morning a friend closed this window with all tabs before opening a new one.
Now I can't retrieve the old tabs from my previous session.
How can I find them again?
I haven't shut this (his) session down but the 'restore previous session' is greyed out.
I own a Macbook. Version 30.0.
Thanks.

If you use the Time Machine on your Mac then you can try to restore an older version of the sessionstore.js file.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • How can i restore a Previous session if someone has just opened the Firefox browser and closed it bfore I got on the same computer?

I had 2 lots of windows with multiple tabs thatI wanted to re-open the next timethe computer was on, but someone else was on the computer and opened firefox and now i can't restore my previous session of tabs in the 2 windows.

hello, can you go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there create a backup of all files starting with '''sessionstore'''. then inspect them and see if their modified date would match the session you're trying to restore, in which case you might paste the content of the file into a site like https://firefox-session-restore.herokuapp.com/
otherwise i fear you'll have to reconstruct those sites through your history ...

  • I can't restore a previous session (it instead recovers the session before) of my Tabs and my home page keeps being reset to firefox

    Hi,
Over the last few days (since i updated to the newest version of firefox) i've been having problems. I usually keep open quite a few tabs that are invaluable to me that I need, they contain vital information i've been needing for research and I can't afford to keep losing them!. I'm used to exiting firefox when i turn off my computer and them saving for my next session when I open firefox back up. For some reason now, if i turn off my computer, when i turn on again and go into firefox to restore my previous session. it will restore the session prior to my previous session but not my previous session.
My default setting was to resume the Firefox session from where it was when I last exited Firefox that I set. The settings are all the same as they was before I updated firefox and I had this problem, so it is set to remember my history. I'm really not that tech savvy so i really don't know if it was teh update that caused it but it seems around the same time. Also, every single time. it sets my home page to firefox (it is usually google)) it will only remain google if i change it back and remain for the day until i restart my computer.
I'd be most grateful to any hint that might solve this problem. Thank you for your attention. I really appreciate the input! thanks everyone in advance!

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • Can't restore a previous session (or two ago) using a backup.session file?

I'm trying to recover a session, but it is not my last previous session (it's from a few sessions ago now I suppose). I started Firefox today and it didn't load the session from the previous night and instead loaded a couple of update pages that I closed. I then reopened Firefox realizing that it didn't reopen to my session and now restoring the previous session doesn't help because it opened to the updates (and I've now opened and closed it a few times trying to solve the issue). I've found a file in the session folder called "backup.session" that was modified last night and says it is a SESSION File, but can't seem to open it (web search for a program does no good and I don't see Firefox in the Browse for a Program section.
Is there anyway to open a session from a few sessions ago and is it through this backup.session file?

Are you using any session managing extensions like Tab Mix Plus or Session Manager?
You can try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file.

  • Can I restore a previous session after I open a new page and close it again afterwards?

I recently lost all of my opened tabs and windows. I had 7 pages open with multiple tabs in each window. Windows did an update and shut down my computer without me realizing. When I went on to my computer, without thinking I opened a new window and didn't restore the session, not realizing it wasn't there anymore. Then my computer shut down unexpectedly. Now when I go on the computer, it won't show my previous browsing session. The restore previous session is grayed out, and now that I opened another window to try to figure it out, there is nothing to restore. Is there any way to get a browsing session back from the past? Not the most previous browsing session, but a browsing session from 2 before that??? I am devastated because of all the research I've done in the past 6 months is gone. It will be so hard to figure it all out by searching through my history since it was 6 months of browsing. Not to mention too time consuming to do it that way since there were a few hundred tabs that I lost! Please help me!! I keep thinking that there has to be a way...It's really stressing me out and I just can't accept that it is all gone! I'm not an expert on computers, so I hope to get an explanation that I understand...I would be so grateful if someone can help me!! Thanks!!

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>
'''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.''
*Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Can I restore a previous session?

I had a huge session that had been there for quite a few days. I was doing some important work and had to refer to websites opened on it daily. Today when I came home I noticed that my computer had restarted. When I opened firefox to restore the session and begin work again, it opened to my home page. I don't know who sat on my computer when I was gone and how many times was it used during this time. Is there anyway to recover that previous session that I had?

If the session has been overwritten by someone else working at this computer,I don't think you can now recover that session, although you can still search in the history for the websites that were opened before the restart, which can be done from the Firefox button-->History-->Recently Closed Tabs (and/or Recently Closed Windows) or from the search box in the Library (Ctrl+shift+H) .
However, before doing this, you could try to restore the session (just in case someone did not overwrite your previous session, but just chose to open the home page instead) from the History menu-->Restore Previous Session or directly from the home page (if it is on the default setting of about:home you should have a "restore previous session" button on the right) or by typing '''about:sessionrestore''' in the URL bar.
In the future,if you need to constantly save an huge session, this extension [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/?src=search Session Manager] does exactly this job and can store/reload multiple sessions.

  • Can't restore a previous session, after 2nd session has been closed. Please help!

I have had a tons of tabs open in two windows with very important information. Husband was using computer this morning and I am not able to restore them. He closed one window, so now "Restore Previous Session" is unavailable and "Open Last Closed Window", opens the lullaby for kids from the previous session (just one tab). Is there a way to get my original session? Please someone say yes..

    Hi,
If you accidentally closed the tabs there is one way to recover the website or pages you visit. Just hold CTRL+H on your keyboard and look for its date and find the website you visited.
CTRL+H is a keyboard hot key to access the history pane.
    I hope this helps.
    Thank you!

  • I'm fed up with Firefox, I can't get it to restore my previous session. I'm ininstalling it.

I keep trying to set Firefox to "show my windows and tabs from last time" but it keeps showing this http://search.us.com/v/2/?guid={A665B7FB-CC63-4DF6-A03A-AE7DF57CDAF0} when I start. I'm fed up. I'm uninstalling it,

I think this is because of software (adware or viruses) on your machine or the websites you visit. Many of these change homepages without user consent as a way of aggressive advertising or to scam people. These generally target your default browser, so even if you switch to Maxthon you could get the some problem. To prevent this from happening you need to use anti-virus software to scan for adware and viruses and remove them.
Even with the adware you can probably still restore your previous session by clicking the 'Firefox' > 'History' > 'Restore Previous Session' (or 'History' > 'Restore Previous Session' if you don't have the 'Firefox' button).

  • How can i stop firefox from trying to restore my previous sessions

Ever since I updated to firefox 20.0 I've been having a problem with firefox. Every time I start up firefox I get a message saying that this is so embarrassing for trying but failing to restore my previous session and it gives me the option to either close the page and go to the welcome screen, or to restore my previous session. My preferences has the show my home page selected, and every time that I close out of firefox, I close the page by hitting the red x, and then I highlight either the firefox icon or the firefox tab at the top of my screen and select quit. I reset firefox twice and that didn't work either.

    Tried it didn't work

  • When FF restarts after a crash, why does it not restore my previous session?

Firefox crashed twice today (on the same URL), and each time it restarted, it did not honor my option to "restore the previous session". Each time it restarted with one window, I checked my options, and the "restore previous session" option was still set. The happened last week also. FF 32.0, Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. Thanks.
    --Barry Finkel

Hi Barry, can you use History > Restore Previous Session?
I think you need to fix this setting:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash''' to switch it from false to true
You might also want to reset or at least increase these values, but based on our earlier thread, perhaps these would make your session history less stable:
    '''browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo''' is currently zero
    '''browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo''' is currently zero

  • I just upgraded firefox. How can I restore my previous section? I'm in the middle of a project.

Is there a way to restore my previous sessions tabs?
    I just upgraded firefox.
I want to recover all the sites I was working with for project.

There is this offer of a trial version FC Pro X with 30 day runtime:
    http://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/trial/
Too bad you didn't have a complete backup that could run the previous OS X
and then you could resume using an earlier Final Cut Pro (10) or (7) since a
clone would have been a means toward that position.
    http://www.apple.com/support/finalcutpro/
    http://www.apple.com/support/pro-apps/
This appears to be another good reason to check out all the reasons why one
would want or need to upgrade a working OS X version, since these kinds of
events are known to happen as a direct result.
Sorry to not have an answer to this, other than try & use the Trial version...
Or see if someone at Apple sales/support can field your issue w/ an answer.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • HT4859 How can I restore a previous backup in iCloud storage for my iPad?

How can I restore a previous backup in iCloud storage for my iPad?

Restoring an iCloud backup requires you to first erase your iPad.  If you have any newer data that you want to save you'll need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the iPad and when given the option, choose Restore from iPad backup.

  • How can I restore the previously bought apps after I have formatted my computer without backing up any of my files for iTunes?

    As titled.
I bought many apps from iTunes at the end of last year, and then my computer had got problem that I had to format and reinstall everything.
I just want to know how can I restore the previously bought apps once if I forgot to backup any of my files on the computer??
Would be really grateful if someone can show me how to. Thanks!!
FYI: At that time I was using iPad 1 and the OS was still 3.1.x. Now I am using iPhone 4 and would like to restore the apps at least those that are compatible to my phone.

How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store

  • Is iTunes 11.1.5 compatible with Mac OSX 10.6.8? If not how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

Problem: Recently when I open iTunes it doesn't work; the little pinwheel just keeps spinning.
I have tried leaving it on, as suggested by another user, for over 12 hours. I didn't work.
I think the new iTunes version, 11.1.5, is not compatible with the operating system; Mac OSX 10.6.8. If this is so, how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

You need to be updated to iTunes 11.2.2.
You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files.
    Combo updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update v.1.1 - 1.09 GB
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
After running the combo updater, select Software Updater and update iTunes.
If iTunes fails to open after updating, hold down the Option key when launching iTunes. It will ask you to locate your iTunes Library.
Note: I've seen users with their iTunes Library on an external drive spin like this when the drive was failed to be seen in Disk Utility. Run Repair Drive on the external drive to fix this issue.
