Can't restore un-activated Iphone?

When i try to activate my iphone it always says "Your Iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable." I tried activating it on itunes and it doensn't work either.
I looked online about what i should do in this situation and a lot of people had said they waited a few hours and then it worked. I've been patient but it has been doing this for about 4 days now.
As a solution someone suggested restoring my iphone but because i can't get into the iphone's settings or the settings on itunes, i don't know how to do it.

You will get that error if your computer antivirus or firewall is blocking access to gs.apple.com, or if your computer was ever used to jailbreak or hack any iOS device in the past. Look in the hosts file on your computer. If you see any lines containing gs.apple.com you need to remove them.
Windows: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Mac: /etc/hosts
You need administrator privileges to edit the Hosts file on either OS, and you need to sudo on a mac as in:
sudo nano /etc/hosts

Can't Restore and Update iPhone 4

When I'm trying to restore, the restore bar on the iPhone goes until the very end and then iTunes gives me a message with the error code 3004. I tried it three times now, and for some reason it just can't restore my iPhone. The reason why it's trying to restore in the first place is because it "failed to back up" earlier, and it left my iPhone in recovery mode. Anyone got any ideas/suggestions/help? Thanks in advance.

Lol, actually kept trying and it eventually worked. But that wasn't the only thing I did. According to directions on the Apple error code support page, (if you have error code 3004), you should quit iTunes, and then go to Terminal and type this: dscacheutil -flushcache So yeah, that's what I did, and I kept terminal open while trying it again, and my phone got restored and updated. Though I did here that one person's iPhone was updated but didn't have all the features of iOS 5, so I'll have to double check on my phone.

Can not restore non jailbroken iphone 4 to ios 7.1

I was using ios 6.1.3 on my iphone 4 8gb.
Then i thought to update to ios7.1 since i heard that 7.1 is bit faster than 7.0.
So i downloaded the ipsw for ipswdownloader.com.
The problem is i can not restore it from itunes.
The restore process started and at the last got an error 14.
Now i tried thrice but still getting error 14.
Can not solve this.

This is why you should only update your iPhone using the version of the software provided by Apple.
Try putting your phone in DFU mode. A Google search will turn up the directions.

How can I restore an old iPhone backup from Time Machine?

Hi there,
I lost my iPhone 4S but have a extra iPhone 4 (used for travel) that I would like to restore the 4S backup to.
The problem is that the backup of my 4S has somehow disappeared from itunes and the only one that shows up is the iPhone 4 backup even though they are set up as different devices with different names. I know that the backup for my 4S is included with my Time Machine backups (on external harddrive) but I can't find the files. Also very strange is that I don't have the folder "MobileSync" in /Library/Application Support/MobileSync on my computer. I can't find that folder anywhere.
My computer is less that 6 months old and I know that I have not deleted that folder or any other that are preinstalled.
I'm using OS X 10.9.4 and I don't want to restore my hole computer from Time Machine, just the files that hold my 4S backup.
Also note that I have not backed up everything from my 4S phone to iClould so that's not an option.
I've tried everything including:
- Restoring the settings on the iPhone 4 to factory settings and then connecting to itunes.
- Deleting itunes and restoring it from Time Machine at a date that i knew had the original iphone backup.
Who ever can solve this for me deserves a gold medal. I'm truly desperate. I've searched all forums and haven't found a solution for this.

Correct.
You need to go to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/.
The ~ indicates your User folder not the top level /Library/ folder.
Click on the desktop, then hold Option and go to Finder menu Go and Library will be there (only when holding Option as it is hidden).

How can I restore music from iPhone to iTunes Library?

iTunes deleted music (the proverbial !) in my iTunes library, however the music (I want it in the library) still plays on my iPhone. I have repeatedly trying synching the iPhone (the music is still playing ok on the 3GS) but whenever I click on the song in iTunes library, I get the ! and "cannot locate song". How do I get the music on my iPhone back onto the iTunes Library? I tried synching iPhone but still ! in iTunes. This just happened the other day when I opened iTunes.

If you have back up your music, you can restore from the backup.
To restore information from a backup, use one of the following methods after connecting your iOS device to the computer with which you normally sync:
Right-click (or Control-click) the device and choose Restore from Backup
If you have a new phone, you can connect to iTunes and it will prompt to restore from your backup

If you have no backup for your data on iPhone, iPhone data recovery software is your last shot! I used Wondershare iOS Data Recovery and it worked well, there are also other options available.

Can't restore messages from iPhone 3GS to iPad mini

I tried to transfer informations from my iPhone 3GS to my new iPad mini via iCloud backup with no success. Once restore is completed, some data is missing on the iPad, like messages SMS and images. I think it's normal that photos won't be restored because of the different resolution of the iPad mini, but why there is no messages on the iPad after the restore?

Can't restore/update any iPhone!! Help!!

I have tried trawling the threads for answer but so far no luck. I have got a Macbook Pro 13inch, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3GS. Whenever I try to update or restore the software on any of the phones, the progress bar on iTunes gets about 95% full and then just stops, the progress bar on the iPhone stops at about 2/3rds full. This happens every single time. Please can somebody help me with this problem as I can't update or restore without using my old computer (incovenient)

When you have the phone plugged in to iTunes, are you clicking "restore" or "check for update"?

I downloaded emoji app> settings>general>keyboad>international>emoji...... Great... it worked.
BUT I lost it at some point (during a restore perhaps?) not sure how.
My iphone keyboad has the international logo but when I press it nothing happens.
I have deleted my emoji app and re-installed it and still no joy.
Oh, by the way, when I go to General>keyboards>international> .......... emoji is not on the list anymore...

It has something to do with your Outgoing server settings.
Make sure every entries is filled in even if it says Optional.
You can also delete the account and start over.

Easy. Copy it from the old Mac to the new one.
There are a variety of techniques including Setup Assistant (as soon as you get your new MacBook Air, it will ask you if you want to transfer information from another computer), Migration Assistant (if you elect to transfer information later), enabling file sharing between the two computers, or copying your music to a flash drive or other storage device followed by importing it to iTunes.

Once your music library and everything else you want to transfer from the MacBook Pro resides on the new MBA, sync your iPod to the MBA. Sync the iPhone too when you get it, and they will both have identical iTunes music libraries.

hmm, ok. then guess I'm missing why iCloud is called a backup system. It's basically a synching mechanism in case you need to look something up when you don't have your phone with you.
I just mentioned kids, but it's easy enough for anyone to delete something by mistake. and if that get synched right away to icloud with no version control, what's the use for it besides what I mentioned above unless you just loose your phone. But even then if someone finds it and deletes your contacts that will get synched to iCloud and gets deleted from there as well.
SugarSync works in a similar way (instantaneous synching), but it keeps deleted copies so you can always get it back. I understand that it might take some extra space, so may be it should be limited by number versions kept or days or people would have to pay extra because otherwise it's confusing as it;s really not a Backup system at all...
