Can't retrieve music and have to use password everytime I open iTunes library

I bought a new laptop about a year ago and was able to move all my music without a problem.
Now a year later, all my music gets a "can't retrieve file" message, so when I find it and check "try to find the other files in the same location" iTunes freezes every time.
I really don't want to have to move all my music again!
Also, I have to sign in every time I open my library, which is just incredibly annoying!

It sounds like your iTunes Library / files weren't moved to the right location or consolidated.  The article below explains how to do this.

    Yes. You just have to have the music in your iTunes Library. It doesn't matter where it originated.

    Actually, the only thng that will do is set the frequency of requiring the password once it has been entered the first time. The default (I think) if restrictions are NOT turned on is fifteen minutes. Regardless of this settings, the AppleID password will need to be entered at least once (more if there is a substantial amount of time between purchases.

    I had thousands of picture, music and movie files on my Macbook Pro, which was synced to my Apple TV.  I have since lost that Macbook Pro along with all the files on it.  I bought a new Macbook Pro, but want to see if there is a way of getting all the old files from the Apple TV and putting them on my new Mac.  I'd  prefer not to pick apart the Apple TV to get to the hard drive.  Is there any app or simple way to transfer files through Wifi, like a reverse home sharing?  If there isn't there should be.

    I assume this is a 1st gen and not the newer models (black box). In any case it is not meant to be used as a storage device and thus no easy way to retrieve

    You can copy iTunes purchased from a device to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - if the account is authorised on your computer's iTunes then you should be prompted to authorise it when trying to copy them.
    Or there are programs listed half-way down this page which can copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
    You can then add them to your iTunes library via File > Add To Library, again you should be prompted to authorise the account if it's not already authorised.
    You can also find the account that a track is tied to be selecting/highlighting it in the My Music part of your library, or the Music section of 'OnMy Device' when you select the device, and doing 'get-info' (command-i) - it will show on one of the tabs on the popup

    I recently moved from Winnipeg to Brandon MB, and have changed my email address and attempted to delete the old one. Everytime I go to download or transfer data to my iphone or ipad I hit a wall. The system is asking me for my password to my old email address that dosent exist and I can't remember anyway. How do I get around this wall? I cant figutre it out. I do have a new email and password that has been registered with iCloud, etc. but the old one keepd jumping in 

    We need to be clear here. Did you create a second ID, or just modify the single ID?

    I have been having several annoying problems with iTunes for the past several months...
    1) Library content not showing after folder relocation:
    First, in order to free up space on my C drive, I wanted to relocate my iTunes folder to a new 1TB hard drive (F) I installed. I did so according to Apple's instructions online, but despite setting the new location to be my library in my iTunes preferences, the content never shows up in the iTunes Library in the actual application. This is my most annoying problem, so please someone help me to resolve this! Thanks.
    2) Albums purchased on iPhone 5 only sometimes sync with PC
    I have purchased a few albums on my iPhone 5 and only some of them have synced to my PC when I connect my iPhone via USB. They don't even appear under the "Purchases" playlist in the iTunes Store. So, I have content right now on my iPhone that I can only access via my iPhone, and some of the music has gone missing. One or two tracks from albums are not there despite me purchasing full albums at a time... This is also pretty dang annoying and prevents me from trying a solution I'd looked up to fix my third problem...
    3) Album artwork mixed up/mismatched on iPhone 5
    This is pretty self-explanatory. Ony day my album artwork decided to play musical chairs. So now, for example, it shows Andrew W.K.'s bloody face when I listen to Zedd, and shows Skrillex when I listen to Symphony X. I read online that if you desync your content on you iPhone so that none of the music is there any longer, and then resync content from your computer, it will fix this issue. I'm hesitant to apply this solution until I can fix the ones above though, because I don't want to lose content that I have legally paid for.
    My final problem:
    4) Apple charges $20 for a support phone call for iTunes

    1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
    If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
    2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
    3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
    4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.

    Read any of the basic "I've just bought an iPod" instructions yet?
    Installed iTunes on your computer?
    Added any music to your iTunes Library? If not, how do you intend to obtain your music, is it from your CDs, or are you buying music, either from the iTunes Store or from any other MP3 retailer?
    Do you already have any music on your computer, and if so, what format is it in? Are they MP3 files?

    I upgraded to 9.0 a few weeks ago and no everytime I try to open itunes it is giving me the license agreement and uploading my whole library like it is the first install. Driving me insane!!     Doublechecking a couple of things.
    If you navigate to the iTunes.exe file (Usually in C:\Program Files\iTunes\ on an XP PC) and doubleclick on that (instead of using the desktop shortcut or Start Menu), does iTunes launch normally?
    Does iTunes seem to be working properly in other respects?

    My old desktop (guest account) on my computer was deleted. It had my original itunes on it. I made a new guest account on my computer. Obviously, there was no music, no app's, no anything on this particular account.
    I did sync the "purchased" app's onto the new itunes successfully, but I want to know if my notes that I type in the ipad2, also photos i saved and bookmarks (on my home screen and safari), including my reading lists (safari), are safe. Another thing is, how can i transfer my music to the new itunes? how can I get my old music library from the ipad2 onto the new itunes? They were c.d.'s i bured to itunes a while back from my own collection. I did not purchase them online from itunes' site.

    Launch iTunes, go to the Preferences, select Devices, and hover your cursor over the backup file for the iPod. That should show you the serial number, IMEI, and possibly the MEID.
    The manufacturer ID will not help you locate the iPad, though. If you set up the Find My iPad service in the Settings prior to the iPad going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPad is turned on, connected to a WiFi or 3G network, and has not had the Find My iPad service disabled or the iPad been completely restored). 
    If you did not set up Find My iPad, then there is no way to track it. Contact the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPad (the iTunes Store, for instance).

    Your i-device was not designed to be a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up. Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer (except purchased content as mentioned below).  For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software unless you have an older model iPod.     So you had music on the iPad that is not in iTunes and you no longer have the iPad. Is that what you are saying? If that is what you are saying, iTunes won't "recognize" anything that was on the iPad, that was not purchased from iTunes. If the music was purchased from iTunes, you should probably be able to download it again for free as long as you are using the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Did you try downloading the music again?
    Am I understanding what it is that you want to do? If I am understanding you correctly, you will find this to be useful.

    I admit that I'm a little confused by your remark about being logged into your iPad account. You should be logged into your iTunes account.

    The computer not working in no way means the drive is inaccessible.
    Place the drive in an external enclosure.
    Use the backup of the computer to restore the data to the new computer.
