Can't right-click edit in photoshop from lightroom

Using latest versions of lightroom and photoshop. I want to right click an image in light room and select "edit in photoshop" but the selections are all greyed out and will not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop but this did not fix the problem.
thanks

Hi PJ,
I am searching this forum for the same issue. I am a hobbyist photographer, who used to work on LIghtroom first and then open the same photo from LR to photoshop CC and made few minor adjustment. After installing CC 2014 version, this feature is gone. Photoshop CC is opening and nothing is happening. Again, I have to open the image in photoshop CC manually, which is really annoying. Hope someone from photoshop team is listening.

  • Edit in Photoshop from Lightroom doesn't work; Automate Photomerge doesn't work

Edit in Photoshop from Lightroom doesn't work.
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
Likewise,  I also can't automate>Photomerge ...  I pick all the images for the PHotomerge and hit "okay," but nothing happens.   Makes me think it's  Photoshop, not Lightroom, that is all wacky.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1  Lightroom is version 5.7  Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and reinstalled. No change.  I also tried dumping PS preferences, but that didn't affect a thing, either.

None of my "Edit In" worked with the pictures in Lightroom for a particular folder. I expanded the 2014 folder and found that two subfolders had a "?" in front of the 2014-07-04" and another. In other words, the folder was missing. After I found the missing folders using the Lightroom "Find Missing Folder" option, I was able to use the "Edit In" menu item. The 2014 folders weren't expanded at first, so I didn't see the ? marks in front of them. With the missing folders, Lightroom's "Edit In" option was basically telling me there was no picture to "Edit In." Howerver, I have Previews and Smart Previews made when I import picture files into Lightroom. So, the "pictures" showed in the slide strip on the bottom, and also in the display in "expand," but it was actually only showing the previews I had built, not the actual missing pictures in the missing folders. I had accidentally moved some directories using Windows Explorer, and I didn't realize my "happy fingers" moved them outside of Lightroom. Of course, Lightroom has no way of knowing I moved them, and just shows the "?" before the missing folder name. After expanding the root folder, then knew what to do. Fixed it easily. It was frustrating, and took about 20 minutes to see the problem. And that fixed the greyed-out "Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014, and all the other plug-ins were greyed out too.
    Hope this fixes your problem.

  • Issues to edit in Photoshop from Lightroom , why?

HI everyone, In order to edit some images on my new website http://www.monportraitphoto.fr I was getting into my archives that are all in a big Adobe Lightroom catalogue. After choosing the good pictures in my catalogue I tried to make the classical shortcut "edit in Photoshop cc 2014 (yes I've juste made the update and uninstalled the 2013 cc version)"
here is the issue : when I edit a psd file it works but when I edit a raw the screen jumps to the photoshop window but no photo is opening in it. Does anybody know a good way to fix it?

  • When I edit in photoshop from lightroom it forgets the stars!

I've used lightroom and photoshop together now for a while, nad it is great. But when I updated to lightroom 3 I started having a problem. When I click "edit in photoshop" and later saves the images it no longer "remembers" what star ranking it had in Lightroom. It remembers the rest of the metadata, but not the stars. When I have it open in photoshop and check the "file info" I can see the metadata, but it seems the star rating disappears some where between having the original in lightroom and editing it in photoshop.
What do I do? It's really annoying!

If it retains the stars rating when you save metadata to file before doing the external edit, this would be the confirmation of the bug mentioned by Victoria.

  • The option to edit in Photoshop from lightroom is grey out.

I'm on a PC, been editing photos in lightroom. Just downloaded some photoshop presets. Edited some photos using the presets. Now when I go to edit photos using the photos/edit in...all options are greyed out. I've restarted my compute, updated both lightroom and photoshop (I have latest versions) talked online to Adobe support person and did all sorts of "stuff" beyond my level of understanding. Still doesn't work.  Sometimes the options are back in black and look like its going to work, but then photoshop doesn't open, and then the options turn to greyed out again. Please help!

I may be preaching to the choir but here are some tips on using PSE from within iPhoto:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Edit in photoshop from lightroom 5.5 does'nt work

    Hi,
I'm a CC member and I've installed 2014 version of all CC products that I use on my PC (win 7 64bits)
When I use Lightroom, the command "edit in photoshop" doesn't work correctly: photoshop is started but nothing else happens: no photo in photoshop.
I deinstall-reinstall Lightroom with the same result.
This worked fine with the precedent version.
    Thanks for your help.

  • LR4 - Edit in Photoshop from Lightroom 4

When I go 'edit in Photoshop' I'm not getting a dialog box that gives me the options of whether or not to include Lightroom adjustments etc. How do I get that? Can anyone help? At the moment, none of my Lightroom adjustments are carrying across.

Hi - thanks for replying. I've just figured it out. On the initial dialog (render in Lightroom or open anyway) I needed to hit 'render in Lightroom. I've just downloaded the ACR 6.7 Camera RAW which also solves it.

  • Editing in Photoshop from Lightroom Slow....

My problem is when I export from Lightroom into Photoshop to edit a file compared to opening a file directly from finder.  When I export from Lightroom it is super slow compared to opening the file directly.  Anyone else having this problem?

What type of file are they?
If you open a raw file from Lr to PS, Lightroom has to render it, if you open a raw file in PS it has to go through ACR which would always take more time. That's why I ask about file type.

  • Updated camera raw plug-ins and now photoshop does not recognize ANY files and I can no longer edit in photoshop from lightroom. What happened?

I don't know what happened, but ps6 is no longer working. The window is there, etc., but cannot pull in files to work on. I am on MAC. Help?

I have the same problem. Any solutions?

  • Images not opening for edits in Photoshop from Lightroom all software is updated

I am working on  a MacBook Pro and today after making basic edits in Lightroom 5.+ the images won't then open in Photoshop to edit there.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Charles

Geoff, I am using the very latest CC version of Lightroom 5.7 and Photoshop v 2014.2.2 running in 64bit mode, on a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion OS 10.8.5. I used it yesterday morning and things worked fine but in the afternoon, I created a new catalog for a project I was working on. The first image everything worked as normal. I mad some basic White Balance corrections, along with contrast adjustments then take the images into Photoshop to remove the backgrounds but going to the menu item Edit in Photosho. If photoshop is down, it opens the software but the images don't transfer into Photoshop to work on. I rebooted Lightroom and Photoshop a couple of times with no effect still the same problem. I rebooted the computer twice and still no changes in the way it was responding. This morning as I begin to write this, I opened Lightroom and now even the catalog is missing along with most of the ones I have created. I did open an old one and it now works as it should so I will try to recreate the project from yesterday but it is now saying that Lightroom can't save to that Hard drive.  I will reboot the external hard drive now to see if that will solve that problem. This has happened in the past when using Photoshop when I am trying to save an image but never like this? Most of the time rebooting will solve that kind of issue so I will try that now. Just not sure what might be causing that to happen either?
    Thank you for your help,
    Charles

  • Can't Edit In Photoshop from LR

    Hi All
I'm on a Mac using the latest versions of LR, Photoshp CS5, and Camera RAW.  Editing 5D and 40D files.
I cannot get RAW files to completely open up in Photoshop using either the COMMAND+E or right click Edit In Photoshop.  Upon using either of these key strokes, Photoshop will launch, but the file never opens in Photoshop.
I tried selecting CS5 as my second external editor, and launching with "right Click Edit in" that editor, and Photoshop launches that way, but LR creates a PSD first and stores in my catalogue before moving to PS.   I prefer using the main editor as I can edit in Photoshop and choose to save the file.
Ugh. I've tried deleting preference files and that hasn't help.  Any ideas?

Does ACR open when you start the process in PS and use File / Open and select the RAW file?  File / Open is how Windows would do it, not sure on a Mac, but whatever you'd do in PS on a Mac to open a RAW file, without LR being involved.
In other words, is the issue with PS opening in ACR or PS being called from LR?
Also, if PS is already open w/o any file being edited--not as a result of a bad open from LR, but PS manually started up, does it work right from LR?  In other words if the invocation from LR doesn't actually involve starting up PS, but just communicating with the currently open PS does it work better?
You might just try uninstalling and reinstalling LR, again.  Or even re-installing PS, although LR is easier to re-install so try that, first.

I am using Macbook Pro, Photoshop CC, and Lightroom 5.
The problem is: When I start edit in photoshop from Lightroom, the adjustment in Lightroom does not showing up in Photoshop. This has never been happen before while using Photoshop 6.
I have tried to reinstall the products several times, including OS Yosemite. But it does not help.

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

    Hi Ashley Clavette,
The Initial view setting works perfectly when the file is opened in Acrobat after setting the desired Initial View.
When you upload the file onto Wordpress, and view it on that website in the browser...it might be using a different pdf handler program which might be causing this issue ( it would be helpful, if you could provide the screenshot) , however when you download the pdf again from wordpress server...and open in Acrobat/Reader...then what  exactly happens ?  Does the pdf opens in the desired Initial View setting?

  • Why am I not able to export NEF files to Photoshop from Lightroom to edit. This is new. When I right click on an image, the export to PS option is not selectable.

Why am I not able to export NEF files to Photoshop from Lightroom to edit. This is new. When I right click on an image, the export to PS option is not selectable. I've never had this happen before. I haven't used it for a few weeks, so maybe there's an update (Mac or otherwise) that's screwing things up? HELP!

I have an Edit In - Photoshop option, but not an Export - Photoshop option.
Obviously to have right-click Edit In to work, the photo you're right-clicking on needs to be selected.  I assume this is not the problem, and that the photo is selected.
Mavericks 10.9.3 has a problem where the Users folder is hidden, and you need to update iTunes to fix it, but it's been a few weeks since this happened so hopefully you're up-to-date and the Users folder isn't hidden anymore.
If you can't get things to work, I'd uninstall LR and uninstall Photoshop, then install Photoshop, and update it, then install LR and update it, as a way to get any wayward security or other OS-level things reset.
