When I try to run the installer it says "Sorry an error has occured. The application cannot be installed because the installer is mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assisstance."

Which operating system are you using? Please try removing the Adobe Application Manager and try the installation again. You can find more details under the Known Issues section of Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html.

I can't run the installer file because a padlock appears in Mac OS X Yosemite.

When I download the file it appears on Finder with a padlock in the upper left corner. If I try to run it, it opens with another program that can't read it. Looking for some information on the internet I read something about the file permissions. But I don't know what to do.

In the screenshot, I see that the installer has the .mdlp extension. Do you by chance have MATLAB installed on your system?
Remove -2.mdlp from the file name and it should leave just the .dmg extension, which should launch. If it doesn't, right-click on the file and select 'Open With' and navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app

Trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on openSUSE 10.2. I've already read tons of manuals and have tried different solutions but still cant run Oracle Universal Installer.
when I run ./runInstaller nothing happens or I receive following response:
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre118_v3/bin/jre. Please wait ...
and return to prompt...
What I adid:
1. Download Blackdown JRE 1.1.8 and install it
2. Edit oraparam.ini - JRE_LOCATION=/usr/local/jre118_v3
3. unset LANG
4. Try edit JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jre118_v3
I think the problem is in JAVA. Plz help. Thanks

I can't run java installer. This may involve firefox. My firewall is turned off so that I can install java, but something is still blocking the installation procedure, and java's support page doesn't seem to offer an answer.

University tech support says their online course system prefers explorer to firefox, and something they and the java download site both say about allowing pop-ups and disabling the firewall make me thing that part of the problem is with firefox's compatibility. But honestly, I don't know. I just know that I'm following all the directions I can find and it doesn't seem to be working.

I'm trying to install OLEDB Provider on my Windows NT 4(SP6)and Windows 2000 Server machines. Can't start installation. I downloaded the installation package and extracted its content to C:\OraODBC folder. Then I clicked on C:\OraODBC\install\win32\setup.exe file, but nothing happend?! We get halfway through the install - at 50%, as it switches from "downloading" to "installing" - and it stops, with "general error" message. We've done all the troubleshooting steps the page advises. Now what?

Can't run iphoto, idvd, itunes safari..help!

I have recently used the software update option and i've installed updates for iphoto, iweb, safari, and itunes. The system restarted and now i can't run any of these programs. I tried to reinstall them from my mac os X 10.4.10 cd, but now i can't run the installer!
Any ideas? I also can't run installers at all (.mpkg files)

Ensure that you have the latest version of the OS (10.4.10) and Quicktime (7.2) and the app.
1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the apps might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

Network Installer: Can't run Disk Utility

Hi, all.
Just created a net install image. SIU's log did not report anything out of the ordinary, however for some reason I can't run Disk Utility, and I need to as the automated installation options frequently don't work.
I select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and nothing happens.
I run the Terminal and try hdiutil and get
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libbz2.1.0.dylib
Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskImages.framework/Versions/A/DiskImages
Reason: image not found

Now, if we mount that image on a running Mac we can see the following

So it looks like libbz2.1.0.dylib is symlink'd to libbz2.1.0.3.dylib, except libbz2.1.0.3.dylib doesn't exist in the netbooted image. But it does exist in the image when it isn't netbooted! Yes, they are the same image!
I also have two "Help" menus, just for kicks.
Does anybody know what's going on? I guess I'll re-create the image, but it'd be nice to understand what's going on and know if it's something I can somehow avoid in the future.
On the lighter side, this is the first time in nearly a year I haven't had to manually insert the CoreVideo.framework to get the image to boot!

Ah, forget what I said about it being the same image. I didn't notice that my chroot hadn't worked when I was checking... I was checking the live system instead. Good thing, too, 'cause that was just TOO weird.
Still doesn't explain why there's a link to a non-existent file. To test I created a symlink for libbz2.1.0.3.dylib which just points at the previous version. Guess what: Disk Utility works now.
I'm re-creating the image anyway and we'll see if the problem exists on that one as well. If it does, I won't be pleased. That'll be two repeatable bugs that break the NetInstall function for me in a year. Not cool.
Anybody else getting weird output if they type hdiutil in to Terminal at the Network Installer? Or do you have a non-working Disk Utility?

Cant run Acrobat Pro, try to download latest AIR, but installation fails and I can't run Acrobat

I tried to run Acrobat Pro (don't know version as can't open it) and I am told to download latest Adobe AIR, but after downloading the installation fails with Error# 16820, so now I can't run my Acrobat. Anyone know how to break this very annoying loop please?

I'm not sure anyone here knows more about the Java plugin than you do...
Were you starting the control panel from disk as administrator because it didn't work starting it through the Start menu (if you have Control Panel set to View by Category, the Java control panel is under "Programs").
