Can't run Bookcamp Assistant

When I launch Bootcamp Assistant it keeps telling me that it can't start because I need to update my system software but I already just did, and restarted! Suggestions please?!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that i downloaded Bootcamp 3.1 and when i go to launch it, it opens up VMWare Fusion and asks for a serial #! Is this normal? Do I need to buy a serial # to run Fusion in order to run Bootcamp assistant to install Windows? Seems hokey to me! Any ideas?

Can I stop Migration assistant and run setup instead?

While running setup on my new iMac, I was prompted to transfer data from my old computer using Migration assistant. I thought I was just transferring the user profiles but it seems to be transferring all the associated documents and downloads. It's taking a long time and I'd rather stop the process and just setup the new computer from scratch. Is this possible? I dont actually want all the crap my kids downloaded over the last few years clogging up my new system ...

If you were transferring files during the initial setup, you were using Setup Assistant. Migration Assistant can be run later; however, it will automatically create a new user account (because you've already set up an account during the setup), so you'll wind up with two accounts and duplicate folders which will take a while to sort.
If you just want to drag over certain files, best to use target disk mode (you need a firewire cable):

If you want to use that, you can just erase your drive using the recovery option and then download/reinstall your OS again.

First, please try the SFC command to check if you any corrupted system files:

If this issue persists, it is recommended to perform system restore to get back to a previous time point to check what the result is:

How can I use Migration Assistant to read a backup stored in a folder on an external drive?

My MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion) died on me. I removed the hard drive and copied all the folders under my /User/stewart to an external hard drive.
I have an IMac which has just been upgraded to Mavericks. I want to transfer some of the data from my MacBook Pro to the iMac. I want to transfer my email from the MacBook Pro to the iMac, including:
- All stored emails
- All account settings
I assumed that migration assistant could do this for me. But when I tried to use it, there was no option to read from a disk that wasn't a Time Machine backup or a startup disk.
Is there any way I can move just the email onto teh Mavericks machine.
The Macbook Pro is just about to be shipped off for repair. I could get the disk out of it again and then run Migration Assistant with it. It would be very time consuming as I don't have it with me at the moment.
So I am hoping someone can help me with a quicker way.

Migration Assistant will recover data from a system disk or a Time Machine backup.
Since you moved the files yourself to the external drive, you are going to have to move what you have back yourself.
The files for email are stored in ~/Library/Mail. Since you did not copy them to the external, your emails are now lost.
The same goes for your account settings.

I am planning on buying an Intel i7 iMac in the near future, and I want to take some of the files from my old Core Duo computer and move them to the i7 iMac. I'm not throwing out the Core Duo iMac, I just want some of the files on the new i7, but I don't want to clutter it up with files I don't need to move. How many times am I allowed to run Migration Assistant? Suppose one day I just want to bring over my iTunes 7 library, and my email accounts but I don't need anything else on the first day. Is it ok to just migrate those couple of things in one session and migrate other things in another session? It seems like that's how it will work but I don't know for sure.

This was posted from my Core Duo running OS X 10.4.11. I want to use the i7 as my main computer but still use this one (Core Duo) in another room on my WiFi network. The i7 will be taking all new emails.

That's what I did on all my other Macs as I got them. I just decided to upgrade the memory in my old slow core duo iMac to 2 Gigs and I bought the box set. So far I installed 10.6. It works but just as slowly as before, which I think is it's normal speed. But now I have the option of turning Rosetta on and off.
Now I can wait for Lion and the second generation i7 iMac to be released and be up to date on my Core Duo iMac. I'll be back when I get to migrating to a new iMac, or maybe before.

HT4796 When I run migration assistant on my PC, I get a message saying windows mail is running and won't let me proceed. Windows Mail is not running. I checked Task Manager's applications, services and processes and found no references to Window's Mail.

Got a new iMac 27" for Christmas (well a little after) and tried using Migration Assistant to transfer some files. I can't get past a window on the PC that pops up indicating Quit Other Programs Before you can transfer your information, the following programs must be shutdown: Windows Mail Close these programs and run Migration Assistant again. If these programs do not appear to be running, restart your computer and try again.
I've rebooted. I've searched Task Manager - Applications, Processes and Services and there are no references to WMail. I don't or haven't knowingly used Windows Mail and Outlook isn't even installed on my PC. Does anybody know how to get around this without using external drives, USB flashdrives, etc.

Lots of fun.... The superdrive in my Macbook seems to have gone off kilter since my install. Now the CD-R won't work regardless of which operating system I use. Normal CD's and DVD's are fine, but any CD-R is taken as a blank disk.
Using an external CD drive solved this problem.

The Boot Camp Assistant, downloading the Windows installers says my system can only run Windows 7. [The newly-opened Windows 8.1 disc is right here.] Can this be right? Might you please identify the weak point? Should I upgrade? Is the memory the reason? Is the assistant wrong? What should I do.
Using 3ds max, would it be wise to upgrade the memory in any case. When the correct Windows softyware is determined and installed, how large should I set the partition. Thank you for helping me.

Graphics card I don't know the difference. So it's memory- I have insufficient accesible memory? If my purpose is to manipulate highly featured images, should I upgrade memory in any case. Hello, I am having problems migrating data from my old PC running XP (SP3) to my new Mac Pro 2012 using the Migration Assistant.
- I downloaded and installed the Windows Migration Assistant from Apple
- My Mac recognized PC and displays passcode
- The sasscode does not show / display on my PC
- My Mac is then stuck in "authenticating" loop and the PC is stuck "waiting for Mac to connect."
- Both computers are connected on same network (have connected PC on WIFI and using ethernet to Reuter)
I have looked on support site and only response I saw says to reinstall Windows Migration Assistant (which I have done)
Any ideas? If cant get this to workare there instructions for manually bring across relevant data eg itunes music and apps, photos, picasa data etc?

Why not turn off the Windows firewall and uninstall any other firewall software you have installed?
If you are using a Norton product uninstall it and discard it. To fully unistall most Norton products you have to go to the Norton website and download a soecial program to completely get rid of it. The normal uninstall feature built into the program will not remove all of it.

Where are my Photos and Music after running Migration Assistant

Ran Migration Assistant to bring over all information for my new MacBook Pro from my old MacBook Pro can't locate my iTunes and my iPhoto library. I ended up running Migration Assistant twice and appears I have duplicate information for lots of items. New MacBook Pro is now taking up about 500G of Space old was about 250G?
I do have plenty of back ups and they are current.

All of your apps and other content should still be in your iTunes library from when you last synched your iPad. You may need to re-check under each tab to make sure that the content synchs again after the update. As I understand it, the update basically reformats the device. The content *should* have been restored after the process was complete, but even if it wasn't, you still have not lost it. It's on your computer, waiting to be re-synched.
Even if your apps somehow were lost from your computer, you can always re-download them for free from iTunes, just as you can for iTunes music. But I doubt that you have lost any content from your computer.

I was wondering if it would cause any issues if I cancel the operation (as it will take over a day on wireless)? There are no settings involved, just music files (mostly mp3's).

I changed the Computer Name and i can not run EM.

I had to change the computer name in order to connect to the intranet.
I updated the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora with the new computer name.
I can run SqlPlus but i can not run EM on http://tahirpc.isu.intranet:1158/em *
I checked Services and I saw that OracleDBConsoleorcl service do not work. I get error code:2 when i try to run it manually.
What should i do?
New computer name: tahirpc.isu.intranet
Old computer name: mtkeskin.isu.intranet
OS: Win 7

Can we run SQC and cobols via CA?

Hi All,
A couple of questions for you all. I am trying to test CA by creating manual steps. I have been able to run sqr and dms via CA. Here's what I am stuck on
1. Can we run Cobols in CA ? For Test batch cobols like PTPDBTST ?
2. How to run sqc files in CA? for eg-dddviews.sqc, if we give only dddviews in step properties, then the log shows that CA takes it as dddviews.sqr. If we give full name dddviews.sqc in step properties, then CA takes it as dddviews.sqc.sqr . In both the cases, the step fails. How to run sqc files ?

As you can see you, there is not step for Cobols or SQC.
Instead of trying to run a Cobol straight from the CA, you can define a ProcessScheduler step, which will run the Cobol in the Process Scheduler, just as you would initiate Cobol from online PeopleSoft.
You should use SQC's in SQR's, so if not yet done so, create a SQR that calls the SQC.
Now you can use step SQR Report to execute the SQR which will execute your SQC.
