Can't run CD-ROM set of magazines in 10.4.9; worked fine in 9.2

My "Complete National Geographic" set of 31 CD-ROMs used to run great on my Cube, which I bought in 2000 with OS 9 (Classic) installed. When I finally bought OS X ( now 10.4.9), keeping 9.2 loaded for older programs, the NatGeo stopped running even though it is still installed in Classic. I tried reinstalling it in OS X but the installation CD wouldn't run. The index CD that served as its engine now brings up only a "disk not recognized" error message. I can get the welcome music to play by clicking on its icon, but that is the only one I can navigate or even recognize. The NatGeo's system requirements are "Power PC, System 7.5 or higher, 8 MB RAM, 32 MB free HD space." The whole program does run normally when tried on a PC in Windows 98 but is there hope to ever run it again on my Mac, or have I updated my OS and QuickTime (7.1.6) too far to do that?

Case closed! I'm sure you all knew this already, but I finally figured out that I was not truly in Classic (9.2.2) when trying to open the application. Instead, I was using the toggle button to open Classic from within OS X, and that is not good enough. Robin Williams said it in her book on OS X, but did I remember? Not until I went back to the book. I needed to actually SWITCH my startup disk to Classic and reboot. Once I was in Classic, I couldn't find the program and had to use old Sherlock to do so. Next, I took a chance and ran the Installer again without removing any original programs. All went well; the installer recognized what was already there and the only pop-ups I got were about keeping my newer versions of QuickTime. I chose the new ones, with no problems. I did trash an empty folder that was not part of the original program. Then I clicked the new alias I had made, inserted the index CD, and my registration card popped right up for the first time since I installed OS X. I hit OK and the directory appeared and navigated just as it should. I tried several CDs, which all open properly and allow zooming to nearly full screen size. Simon, I did not change my color setting but I will do so just to see if that makes things even better. I am not getting the cool National Geo theme song with the intro anymore, but that's a small price to pay. Thanks, all!

I had a situation where I had to run log miner to undo some changes. I ran the log miner on the database where SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_MIN was not set nor the dictionary was specified. I ran the following and was able to get the undo. I am a little confused there, as Oracle doc stats that SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_MIN should be set to YES, before you can mine the logs.
These are the commands :

You could use 'statistics=YES' from command line. If you are using an icon from windows' desktop, then go to properties of that icon and append 'statistics=YES' at the end of TARGET. This basically issues 'ALTER SESSION SET SQL_TRACE TRUE' for the current session.

I don't think there was any setting I could change on the driver. Firefox did not show up in the mixer or volume control. It is there with the native win 7 driver. This driver doesn't seem to see Firefox. I just got this computer, but looking for help, posts three years ago on the web seemed to have this problem with the Dell e6500 and Firefox.

Just set up our Apple TV and it works fine for NetFlix. However want to stream photos and I Tune library from home computer but this computer accesses the internet thru a VPR at my wife's place of enployment. Other than a 2nd computer any suggestions?R

Just set up Apple TV on home network. Works fine for NetFlix but we can't stream I Tune libruary or digital photos thru it to our home TV as because of my wife's work we bypass COX and access the internet thru a VPN offered by her employer. Was told we either have to buy a second computer (two expensive for just these two functions) or keep turning on and off the VPN(not practical). Any other ideas? Thanks

Does she need to access the internet through her employer, or is she just trying to access her internal network at work?
If it's the latter, split-stream VPN clients (like Cisco AnyConnect) will split traffic so that only that directed at a particlar domain gets tunneled.
I have an AnyConnect client at home, but I normally only activate it when I'm using it, so I've never tested it with HomeSharing. I'm currently traveling, but when I get home tomorrow, I'll try it out and let you know if it works. If it does, your wife can check with her employer to see if she can configure AnyConnect to work with them.

HT4436 IPAD issue. Set up Icloud on new IPAD which works fine on my mac and phone. HOwever, when going to iCloud on that IPAD, I am sent to the welcome/set up Icloud screen. And icloud is already set up. How do I get the ipad to recognize the Icloud setup

? IPAD/iCloud set up issue. HAVE iCloud working fine on iPhone and mac. New iPad. Set up iCloud through the usual utility. However, when signing on the iCloud I get sent to the initial "Set up iCloud" screen and cannot sign in to my iCloud account - on the iPad only. Works fine on any other device.

You can't go to icloud.com on an iOS device like your iPad. You can only view your data on icloud.com from a computer. This is because you can already view all your iCloud data on your iOS device from within your apps (contacts in the contacts app, calendars in the calendar app, email in the mail app, etc.).

Can not get MS Outlook to sync with Cal or iTunes. Worked fine prior to the upgrade to 10.9.3

I want Outlook to be the primary calendar that I use to scheduling. Prior to upgrading to 10.9.3 this worked fine. I have tried every thing I know to get it work, Cold boots each app., turning off sync services on Outlook and restarting. Nothing I know works

Sync Basics
CalDAV & CardDAV are protocols used by Apple, Google, Yahoo and others to sync contacts and calendars. Neither Entourage 2008 nor Outlook 2011 support CalDAV or CardDAV.
You can no longer sync Outlook with an iPhone or iPad via iTunes. You can only sync with an iPhone or iPad via a cloud-based service like iCloud or Google.
You can no longer sync Outlook local calendars with OS X Calendar (formerly iCal). You can, however, continue to sync calendars hosted on a cloud-based service like iCloud or Google with Apple's Calendar.
You can no longer sync with any third-party apps running on your Mac that use Sync Services, like Entourage or Outlook.
If you want to stick with Outlook, I suggest you look at Office 365. Otherwise, moving to Apple Mail, Contacts and Calendar with iCloud might be a better option for you.
Until Microsoft adds CalDAV and CardDAV support to Outlook, there is no way to sync other than get an Exchange account. It's $4/month Exchange Online.

Why can't FaceTime verify my email address on my Mac but it works fine on my iPhone?

I can receive and make facetime calls on my iphone but it won't work on my Macbook Pro. It used to work fine and I haven't changed my email address or password. It has now automatically logged my out and won't verify my email address to log me back in. Does anyone know how I can fix it?

I have been troubleshooting this issue myself for over 3 weeks now. I have looked through 20+ forums searching for answers. I know your pain. Here's what you need to do:
You need to call Apple. The problem is NOT on your end! I spoke with an Apple representative and they said that it is a "registration issue" and that THEY need to reset security settings. I waited 14 minutes but the representative found the issue then reset it and I was able to sign in.
Call 1-800-275-2273 (It's free in the US or on Skype if you're in Europe!) When you call, you'll get the standard automated secretary. DO NOT SAY ANYTHING. If you say anything, you will be told that you either need to purchase a protection plan for $19.99 or literally "end the call". Just stay on the line until you're asked if you wish to speak with a representative. Do that and you'll be connected (for free). They will ask for you Macbook Pro serial number and a "Customer Code" if you have one. Tell them how long that you've had this issue and they'll confirm your Apple ID.
Once they confirm your Apple ID, they reset everything on their end and you should be set. Make sure that you are able to send messages/make calls before hanging up.

In Firefox, can't attach files to Yahoo Mail outgoing messages. Yahoo Mail works fine in Internet Explorer though.

Since yesterday, when I switched from Comcast to AT&T as my broadband internet connection, I have not been able to attach files to my Yahoo mail messages using Mozilla Firefox. I don't have this problem when using Internet Explorer, but my default browser is Firefox by choice. Is this a Yahoo issue or a Firefox issue? Can you help me resolve it?

Not helpful. 'clearing Firefox's cache' is not helpful, since 'cache' doesn't show up in any of the Firefox pulldown menu choices (wasted time looking for that), and the plethora of things 'recent' and 'history' to choose to act on in these menus is also a possible waste of time, not to mention removing useful info for no reason.
I, too, have had this problem 'intermittently' for many months, always involving the 'first' file to attach in a Yahoo! email, and I've always used this workaround OK: click on the filename showing as 'being attached' (while Yahoo's doohickey round spinner denoting 'in progress' whirls and whirls to no effect) and use "Remove File"; THEN, REPEAT 'attach file' task & it then works, if slowly. After that for the same email, attaching add'l files NEVER HAS A PROBLEM.
SO, now today, without any software update yet (I've downloaded Firefox v.11 & will install shortly), at numerous attempts during the day, I CANNOT get the FIRST file to attach in a Yahoo! email. Simply, utterly, frustrating without any rhyme or reason. "Everything else, on plethora of sites, working fine."

TS3899 Mail app loading portion of inbox content, well below amount set in Settings. It used to work fine.

My iPad2 recently started loading only a small portion of the inbox content, well the 200 configured in the Settings menu. It has worked fine for a couple years until now. I have restarted the device, restarted the app. The gmail app is getting all mail content and has worked in conjuction with the mail app for several weeks.
Any help is appreciated!

I found the issue...a setting for the number of days to sync had gotten changed, limiting the amount of email that could load.

Checked account credentials and they're correct, it works fine on iPhone, but I can´t log in on iMessage or Facetime on the Macbook, can anyone help?
