Can't run FIreFox crash id: bp-17ec9607-9d9a-4b04-8bca-261132130821

After installing Mozilla FireFox, i can't run it!Run's Mozilla crash reporter crash id: bp-17ec9607-9d9a-4b04-8bca-261132130821

Try to set the gfx.content.azure.enabled pref to false or if this didn't help disable Direct2D by setting the gfx.direct2d.disabled pref to true on the about:config page and leave hardware acceleration otherwise enabled.
That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.
You can also try to uninstall Windows update KB2670838 if you have this update.

I have Mac OSX, version 10.4.11; I loaded Firefox 4, lost 3.6.16, and now I found out I can't run Firefox 4. Can I get 3.6.16 back? I am not sure what to do. I dragged my old firefox icon to the desktop and it disappeared. The new icon has a white circle with a slash, and won't open because I have an older version Mac

You can get Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

  • All the lettlers on my desktop and in the address bar appear as symbols. Also, I can't run firefox because it keeps giving me a crash report. I'm running Vista, if that helps.

This is my parent's computer. Here are the facts: After using facebook the previous evening, the next time the computer was used all of the desktop displayed symbols instead of letters/words. Upon trying to open Firefox a window labeled Firefox crash report opened. No matter what options you choose (send report, don't send, etc) when you click on an option, another Firefox crash report window opens. So I can't open Firefox. Simple solution would be to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it; however, it is very hard to navigate the computer with no words and all symbols. I am able to open up Internet Explorer, but anything in the address bar or search bar also appears as symbols. If I were to type in a specific site in the address bar, the site will load properly in words but the address bar still shows symbols. After much playing around, I was able to update Avast antivirus and run a full scan and nothing was found. I updated Malware Bytes and ran in for an hour but it never fully finished running before I had to leave. Please help.

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
Try to toggle some Boolean gfx.font_rendering prefs on the about:config page to disable some features.
    Filter: gfx
    Some to try:
    * set gfx.direct2d.disabled to true to disable Direct2D
    * set gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.use_gdi_table_loading to false.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • Can I run Firefox in chromeless mode (ie. with no Windows borders etc)

I think chromeless mode is the correct term to use. Basically I want to run Firefox 8 without the usual Windows borders. For example to run it un-maximised but looking just as it does when maximised.
If I'm not being clear please ask questions.
    Thanks

Current Firefox versions on the Windows platform are only available official as 32 bit versions, so that shouldn't be a problem.

  • How can I fix Firefox crashing whenever I have many tabs open?

I will try to keep this short. I used to be a long time Firefox user...like since it was first released. I have always had issues with it crashing when having many tabs open. I couldn't take it anymore and jumped ship. After a brief period using Chrome I decided to install version 31 and try it out again.
I still have the same exact issues. The issue has persisted across multiple computer builds with increasing power and memory.
Currently I am running an i7 4770k with 32GB of RAM and a GTX 770, SSDs, etc. I just installed Firefox yesterday after getting fed up with Chrome and some of its issues. Firefox has crashed about 6-10 times since then.
I am a heavy browser. I normally build up tons of open tabs, upwards of 100+ open tabs at once (maybe more, I've never counted). I understand that this can use a lot of memory, but I have a ton of memory. My system utilization does not go above 30% ever, yet Firefox consistently crashes. I'm actually a bit surprised, it seems worse now than it ever has in the past. It crashes, I restore, and it will crash again within 5 minutes. I have no add-ons installed. I had Ad Block Plus installed briefly but I uninstalled that once these crashes started.
This is Firefox, no add-ons no extras, nothing else to alter its performance. It crashes constantly. This may just be the final attempt before I go searching elsewhere.

I tried to do as you instructed but I don't see any of my recent crashes in there. There are some older ones I see, perhaps from a previous install? There is nothing for the crashes I've had the past day or two. I don't normally submit crash reports though anymore. I can try to recreate the problem and submit one soon if that helps?

  • How can i fix firefox crashes

    Crash ID: bp-ffb50fd9-e0cd-4843-8b6a-f73a92131027

hello partdimi, your crash is caused by a library named ''BitGuard.dll'' - please see if you can remove the program from your system's control panel.
when you google this file name it is also often associated with malware, so you also might want to run a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] and [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx microsoft safety scanner].

  • Can you run Firefox 21 rather than Firefox Nightly on Windows 8?

Just wondering if you can run the regular version of Firefox 21 on Windows 8???

Yes. in the very near future we will be adding full metro support to Firefox release, but there are still some final things we need to do to make that happen.

  • Can't "run" firefox upgrade; instead, only "save" appears. What's up?

want to download newer version of firefox (also Microsoft Security Essentials-having same problem), but the run (execute) command doesn't appear. Instead, "save" (file) appears. What's wrong? I can detect no yellow information bar.

Firefox does not allow executable files to be run, they can only be saved. This is a security feature to prevent the spread of viruses. You can bypass this feature and have the option to run files by using the OpenDownload² extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/opendownload-10902/

  • How can I run Firefox on iMac PowerPC G4, osx 10.5.8?

Same as the subject line -- can I download a version older than the new one?

Firefox 4 doesn't run on a PowerPC Mac.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.
    * http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/4.0/system-requirements/
For Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

  • Can I run FireFox-26.0 as two independent processes, not one process with two windows?

Operating system = MS Windows-7 x64 Home Basic
Processor = Intel Celeron B800 (System shows: two processors 1.5 GHz)

    Hi Alexander,
Yes use a second profile and the -no-remote argument in the none default browser comandline or shortcut. Post back with how you get in or for more information
    Cheers John,
    See
*[[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]] <br /> (Probably the easiest method of creating new profiles.)
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_multiple_profiles_-_Firefox
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions#Installing_multiple_versions
Using multiple profiles is not something we shout about on this forum. It is I think considered too advanced. It does have some dangers in that you may accidentally delete profiles for instance. It is however possible to manually backup profiles, and that may be a good precaution to take. I would also strongly suggest that you follow this good practice (At least until you are proficient enough to manually recreate and modify profiles)
    # Normally use the locations suggested by Firefox <br /> It is easier and safer
#* Always use an empty folder <br />Other contents disappear when the profile is removed
#* Never nest profiles within each other <br /> As above, delete mother, lose child also
    # Do not rename profiles <br />Confusing, profile names and folder names mismatch
    # Do not delete profiles<br /> Just remove shortcuts if not in use. Delete the wrong one and you lose settings, passwords & bookmarks etc
    Uses of multiple profiles include
    * Testing, with clean or temporary profiles
    * Different users, or different work type within the same OS account. That may include different bookmarks files &/or a different set of addons.
    * Running multiple Firefox versions &/or multiple instances of Firefox simultaneously.
There are other methods of creating profiles but the best is probably to use Firefox's built-in profile manager.

  • I can't run firefox setup

I have a brand new computer with windows 7. I opened the firefox download page on Explorer, but when nothing comes up automatically. I clicked on "download" then, and I get a little green box on the bottom, asking if I want to open or save. Open does nothing. The save, opens a pop up box stating that the download failed. "retry...." Nothing works. Is there a different solution? Thank you.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with installing Firefox.
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes installing work.

  • Your new update disabled my antivirus protection: Kaspersky. I can't run Firefox until you fix this or put me back to the pre-release.

I am running Kaspersky ver. 11.0.2.556

See this KB article to learn how the new Search Bar works - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-bar-add-change-manage-search-engines-firefox
If you want the old Search Bar scheme back do this.
Open up '''about:config''' ''(typed in the Location Bar)'' and toggle this preference to '''''false'''''
    '''browser.search.showOneOffButtons'''
    Then restart Firefox.

  • Can I run firefox 3.0 on an eMAC with OSX 10.2.8 (jaguar)

I downloaded firefox 3.0.19 and installed it in apps. It replaced firefox 2.0.0.20 but then would not open.Do I need to do something else. Do I need any other plugin or do I need to upgrade my operating system. If so what OSX do I need

Firefox 3 requires at least OS X 10.4 (the same as the latest release version of Firefox - 3.6.8)
Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last version that runs on your OS.

  • Can I run Firefox 4 on my eMac running 10.5.8 (G4 processor with a Gig of memory)? "Recommendation" is for an Intel chip.

So far, only one site (AT&T) has said they no longer support 3.6.24.

Firefox 4+ versions aren't compatible with Power PC Macs.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4+ versions, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ <br />
    http://tenfourfox.blogspot.com/
Very foolish of AT&T to not support Firefox 3.6.24 any longer, as it is still supported by Mozilla and probably will be until spring 2o12.
