    Generally this should work, but of course there may be occasional compatibility issues across the different programs and their different versions.

  • I have iMac and need a good photo editing program to use.  Reviews say aperture runs really slow with Lion, any suggestions?

    I need a program where I can remove objects and touch up dead grass, etc.

    Reviews say Aperture runs really slow with Lion, any suggestions?
    To add on to Corky02 answer:
    The recent Aperture release AP 3.3.x is very efficient, both on Lion and Mountain Lion. But you need a decent hardware to support it. The older Macs will have problems with the storage and CPU requirements. For good performance on large raw images plenty of RAM is important, at least 4GB, but 8GB would be much better, and your library should be on a fast disk, preferably on an internal drive. And don't let the system drive get too full.
    Many reports about Aperture being slow are due to putting the Aperture library onto slow disks or acessing  the original image files over the network, insufficient RAM, or corrupted or  ill-designedAperture databases.
    Aperture excels at all kinds of image processing that can be considered image developement - raw processing and color/lighting adjustments, but does not do compositing. If you are shooting raw and want professional image developement I'd recommend to do this in Aperture and not in iPhoto - you will have much more control over this in Aperture (after a steep learning curve). You can also  repair and retouch the image to correct minor blamishes. For graphics compositing and inpainting you can set up an external editor and send your images from Aperture to this external editor - any of the editors Corky recommended would be o.k. for this.
    To see, if you will want the advanced image processing in Aperture or the easy to use, more basic options in iPhoro will be sufficient to you have a look at the Aperture User manual, or the tutorial on the support page: Aperture Support
    But Aperture is a professional apllication, not "plug and play". You should only consider it, if you are willing to spend some time on learning to use it properly and are willing to work your way through the manual.

  • Can Keynote 5 be used with Yosemite?

    Can Keynote 5 be used with Yosemite?
    I have quite a few very sophisticated Keynote 5 presentations and I would hate to have to go through and re-do them if forced to work in Keynote 6.
    Anyone tried to use Keynote 5 in Yosemite?

    No problems yet, but I just ordered a new iMac Retina with Yosemite pre-installed (I assume) for my wife, who uses Keynote and absolutely hated KN6 that  auto-displaced her KN5 when i inadvertently updated her system to Mavericks.
    Fortunately, I was able to re-install KN5 and it runs fine in Mavericks, so far.  Looks like I will be doing the same with Yosemite, if you are correct.  For an experienced KN5 user, KN6 should not have had a steep learning curve. But it did.  And to top things off, KN5 presentations my wife built in the past averaged 500mb file sizes compared with a KN6 presentation she built with a similar number of slides and photo content that sized out at 17GB!!!  That was really nice.  You have to wonder if anyone at Apple knows what they are doing?
    Thank you for your response;  However, if you are wrong, the iMac Retina is going straight back to them.  I know of no other company that is more clueless about serving their customer's needs than Apple.

    Can I use Illustrator 9 with windows 7 OS?

    taciadomrose,
    You may need to run the computer in XP mode to install it (you may try in normal mode first). Here is how:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7
    Once installed, you should be able to get it to run with the PC in normal mode as follows (first run):
    1) RightClick the shortcut;
    2) Click Properties;
    3) Click Compatibility;
    4) Tick Run this program in Compatibility mode for, then select XP in the dropdown list;
    5) Start AI9.
    After that, you can just DoubleClick the shortcut.

  • Can I run 2 monitor with one of the monitor having Full Screen for Elgato Eye TV?

    My mac mini has Elgato 'Eye TV' software that runs in 'Full Screen'.  I want to keep this setting & also connect another monitor to the macmini & use other Appilications on the other monitor?  Can I run 2 monitor with one of the monitor having Full Screen for Elgato Eye TV?
    My early 2009 macmini can run Mac OS 10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8

    Yes, run one from HDMI and the other from Thunderbolt/minidisplayport sockets. In EyeTV Preferences check the screen you want for full screen use and make sure your Dock is on the other one.

    You might want to check this thread. Some have had success with CS5 on Windows 8, others not so lucky.

  • Can I run Illustrator CS3 on G4 with Jaguar OS?

    Looking to get the update, but noticed the system requirements were G4-G5 Leopard OS with 1GB RAM recommended.
    Just curious if anyone is running on G4 with Jaguar, or if G5 purchase would be needed (I'd rather purchase than upgrade my G4 with RAM and OS)?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    You'd be better off getting the Mac Pro, bypassing the G5 altogether. You'd probably be able to run CS3 on your G4, but it would probably be slower than whatever you're using now. The Intel Macs are well suited to running the CS3 under Leopard. But a G4 running Jag will run into issues and speed is definitely one of them. I'm currently running Panther and Illus. 10 on my G4. When I venture into CS land, I'll probably spring for the latest Mac Pro with gobs of RAM ( 8gigs? ) and whatever OS is available when the time comes.

  • Needing to run Mountain Lion with Yosemite OS

    I'm needing to run Mountain Lion and I've got a new Retina 15" MBP that shipped with Yosemite. I've been told you cannot run it on a partition with Yosemite. What is the best way to go about doing this? I'm needing to have access to Pro Tools 10 as some of my plug ins aren't AAX compatible yet. Can this be done from a USB 3.0 drive or even Firewire 800 (via thunderbolt to FW800 adapter) if I do a bootable clone? I dunno if Boot Camp allows for this kind of operation or not. Any insight would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Austin

    BootCamp is for running Windows on a Mac, not other Mac OS X versions.
    The Mac computers ship with an EFI boot ROM that will not allow booting a version of Mac OS X older than that shipped on the Mac...which means, you cannot get your new  MBPr to boot Mountain Lion since it shipped with Yosemite, two generations newer than what you want to run.
    Best bet is contact the Power Tools folks and see if they have a version that is compatible with Yosemite.

  • Conflict of cs5 with yosemite. Will not open. "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occured. Photoshop will now exit."

    No, you still have not supplied enough information for others to help you..
    I still have no idea about your system specs (see boilerplate text in 1st reply), etc., all of which could cause Photoshop to fail, nor how you installed Photoshop.
    brooksbarrett wrote:
    …If you don't want to deal with my problem, then how about suggesting how I can contact Photoshop for support?
    No, as a matter of fact, by now I have no desire to deal with you or your problem at all.  (See, this is the unhelpful response evoked by an aggressive, demanding, accusatory sounding post that the FAQ I quoted above warns you about in my previous post.)
    However, I can tell you that CS5 is not supported by Adobe at all, as it is an obsolete version they no longer sell, so no matter whom you contact at Adobe, they will not give you any support.  At best, they will direct you back here to these forums.
    Good luck.
