Can't run programs after update

I'm running a MacBook Air. I ran the software updates yesterday. I've also run Repair Disk Permission (multiple times).
I'm not getting responses when I try to run any program (Safari, Bento, MSFT Office programs, Force Quit, anything!
Also, machine won't properly shut down or restart.
Unfortunately, I also can't get to Time Machine backups from my IMac: The following disk image couldn't be opened, user's MacBook Air.sparsebundle, Resource temporarily unavailable.

Thanks so much teekay! Okay I just did a series of tinkerings, constant "systemctl restart sickbeard" + "systemctl --system daemon-reload"'s and finally I got it working. What seemed to be wrong was having sickbeard.service in the wrong place and/or not symlinked properly, as well as I had the wrong group in "Group=" line in sickbeard.service. Also, the "ExecStart" line had "datadir=/opt/sickbeard" which had to be taken out. In case anyone else runs into this:

  • Can"t run iTunes after update of OSX 10.9.3

    Just updated my OS to OSX10.9.3 and my Safari browser to 7.0.4 and now I can't run iTunes!  Keep getting notice that it needs 64 bit to run and to uncheck the 32 bit box.  Problem is, the 32 bit box is not checked.  Never had problem with older system.  What can I do to be able to play iTunes?

    I suggest you install iTunes 11.2.2, the latest version. If you have just installed Mavericks, then open App Store and login with your Apple ID. Click on the Upgrades icon in the toolbar. The new iTunes should show up. Click on the Update button.

    'NoClassFound' this type run error is displaying the textpad editor, after installing the jDeveloper. Before installing the JDeveloper it was running properly from textpad through jdk 5,
    Now it is showing the above error.
    Though from the jdeveloper run engine the same program is running properly.
    where it is conflicting? i know jdeveloper got its own java exe and compiler, is it making any prob wid da jdk 5 exe and compiler?

    Let me understand: you have a Mac Pro (this forum) or G5? totally different.
    Why not backup the home directory and then erase and install? that works.
    Your hardware profile etc says "10.3.9" and while it is possible to do an update in place from panther to tiger, it really works best to reformat and install (after backup up everything obviously).

  • Can't run sickbeard after update

    I'm using the sickbeard-git package that has always worked fine from AUR, just updated and followed the instructions in the update message. Now running the command gives an error:

  • I can't run GQRX after update

    Good evening.
    I've a issue with gqrx after I've done a full upgrade (yaourt -Syu).
    I think that boost is the problem :

    It was working several day ago
    Any idea ?

    gqrx need boost 1.53 but there is no package.
    Is there any possibility to install boost without using packet ?

    Hi,
    We have had the same problem in a non-express application
    with a heavy server partition. In our case, the error was not
    systematic, depending on the server workload at the time we
    tried to partition and run.
    The work-around we're using is to put the -fm flags (increasing the x
    parameter to say 30000) in the 'server arguments' of your server
    partition
    properties in the partition workshop. Note that if your server is a Unix
    platform,
    you need to put double-quotes before and after the parenthesis in the -fm
    syntax.

    That is really weird.
    When you are in Windows, can you test and see if the F1 key is working? If it is working. Shut down the laptop then boot it back up. At the Thinkpad screen, keep spamming the F1 key and see if you are able to boot into BIOS.

    Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.

    Yes, probably can.. but it won't be fast. You are better storing programs locally and data remotely.

    Not true. Apple has removed both Apps from App Store so you cannot buy them anymore. But if you have any of these Apps already purchased in the past, then you can still download them on your Mac.

    Open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases tab. If you see iPhoto app listed there close down the App Store and do this steps as this is what worked for me:
    Open Finder and go to Applications folder.
    Locate iPhoto app
    Drag iPhoto app from your Applications folder to Trash (NOTE: Do not emptied Trash yet)
    Open App Store app and navigate to Purchases tab.
    Click on Install button which is next to the iPhoto app (on the right hand side).
    Once iPhoto is downloaded again, test it if its working for you. If all is ok, you can remove your Trash.

    Perform a 3 finger reset. Be sure to backup your data as this will remove all your files. Also this will remove store, maps, social and many of the apps/services which should be available via software update client on your phone.
    And a point of caution here - it worked in Anna, but not sure of belle. Or the next better option will be to take your phone to Nokia care where they'll be flashing your phone and reinstall the firmware.
