Can't run report in ASYNCHRONOUS mode

Hi All,
I'm trying to make a report run in ASYNCHRONOUS mode. I want to press a button on a form, submit the report to the reports server and be able to navigate within the form while the report is being executed on the reports server.
My problem is, no matter what mode I choose (ASYNCHRONOUS or SYNCHRONOUS), the mode ALWAYS ends up being SYNCHRONOUS. After I press the button (code below), I get the hourglass and I can't navigate within the form until the report is finished. Then I can view it.
The reports server I'm using is installed locally on the same PC I'm testing the form.
Can someone help me please? I'm using using Forms Builder 9.0.2.9.0.
Thank you,
Artur

Arthur,
Communication mode is soemthing forms handles when calling the run report object. Your code looks fine. You might get a quikc answer if you can post this in Forms mailing list

  • Get a Report crashed error while running report using the mode character

    Hello,
I'am getting an "Enable to run report - Report as crashde" issue only when I'am running reports using the mode character. The same report with desformat pdf never has any problems. I have changed the englife (set to one) increase the cachesize but I still have the same issue.
    I'm using report 6i and Oracle 8i.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Thanks for the response,
In fact the report in character mode is working fine in my environnement but is not working on my customer environnement (which is supposed to be the same as mine). I was thinking of cache size issue or something like this ?

    -----------------------------------------------

    Hi,
We have had the same problem in a non-express application
with a heavy server partition. In our case, the error was not
systematic, depending on the server workload at the time we
    tried to partition and run.
The work-around we're using is to put the -fm flags (increasing the x
parameter to say 30000) in the 'server arguments' of your server
    partition
properties in the partition workshop. Note that if your server is a Unix
    platform,
you need to put double-quotes before and after the parenthesis in the -fm
    syntax.
    Hope this helps,
    Vincent Figari
BTW, what Forte version are you using ?

    Hi,
if anyone could help? Mountain Lion broke vectordesigner 1.7.0. Can I run it in compatibility mode to Lion?
I can not update to version 1.7.3 because it has been removed from the app store.

    There isn't a "compatibility" mode.
According to Roaring Apps compatibility table, neither version works with Mountaion Lion.

I keep getting message "This page requires a plugin that can only run in 32 bit mode" what does this mean and how can I fix it? It seems to come up randomly, but I'm fairly ignorant.

Previous versions of Firefox were only 32 bit, Firefox 4 for the Mac contains 32 and 64 bit versions. If you want to always start Firefox in 32 bit mode, open up Finder and go to the Applications folder. Control-click the Firefox app and click "Get Info", then select the "Open in 32-bit mode" option.

When I try to write an email from my BT site I get the following message
"This page requires a plugin that can only run in 32-bit mode"
Then there's a link to restart the page in 32-bit mode. However, it resets to whole page, drags things back out the trash.
I have only had this problem since updating to the latest Firefox

Control-click the Firefox app and click "Get Info", then select the "Open in 32-bit mode" option.

  • Can not run report

    hi,everyone
on my oracle ias 9.0.2 ( patch 9.0.2.2.0 ) when i run a big report server is no response, little report is very good.i don't know the reason.
    who can help me?
    thanks

    Hi,
by the little information you provide I feel almost unable to help. However, if you call a long running Report from
    a) Forms: then Forms waits for the report to return if run in synchronous mode
    b) Reports Servlet: The Reports Servlet also waits for the Report to be finished. If this takes too long then it can happen thzat you run into a Servlet Session timeout.
Check error log files or the Reports queuemanager to see what's really happening. If you see that the report is processed then you may need to check the Reports query against the database and tune it if required

  • How can i run report from form?

    Hi.
    I build a report , the name is test , in this report i have 3 parametrs 'user_id' , 'Date_1' and 'Date_2'.
how can i send those parametrs from form to report?
i have 3 text item in form for get the parametrs.
    thanks alot

You can run the report from within a program unit, using following :
    Run_Product(REPORTS, report_name, ASYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, param_list, NULL);
Here, report_name contains report file's name (test.rdf in your case) its type is Varchar2.
param_list is of ParamList type, it contains the name-value pairs for parameters you want to pass to the report. You'll have to add parameters to this using addParameter() function. see the Help for addParameter().
this will run the report using Report Background Engine.

  • Satellite L300D-11V: can I run SSD in AHCI mode?

    Hi,
    I've just installed an SSD and Win7 64bit on a L300D-11V laptop.
Does anyone know if it is possible to run this in AHCI mode as I can't see the option in the BIOS?
I see there is a BIOS update but if this doesn't update to enable AHCI I'd rather not bother...

    Hi
I presume it should be possible to use the SSD drive with AHCI enabled mode.
The AHCI means that the HDD or SSD would run with SATA performance but for that you will need to install the SATA driver firstly.
If SATA mode would be set to compatible mode then a SATA driver is not necessary to install the Windows OS.
    Simply said;
    - you dont need SATA drivers using compatible mode
    - you need SATA drivers using AHCI mode
The SATA drivers are a part of the Intel Storage Manager and you could download this from Toshiba European driver or Intel page

  • Can Safari run in 32-bit mode on Lion?

I have a Safari plugin that needs to run in 32-bit mode.  This worked in Snow Leopard with Safari 5.1.  I am unable to find out how you would put Safari into 32-bit mode on Lion.  My suspicion is that this is not possible but I do not know for sure.  Can someone shed some light on this?
    Thank you.

Answering my own question, yes it can.  The 32-bit mode wasn't showing up before but now it is.

Ok, I was able to figure out the functions that were confusing me. For my own record and for those that do not know, I will list how to create the objects necessary to add a new report to a menu.
1-Write JSP (should be written just how Oracle writes theirs)
2-Creat function for the new JSP page as System Administrator responsibility
3-Use Sys Admin to add the function to a menu somewhere
4-Using AK Developer responsibility, create an attribute with the label of the attribute being the name of your function you created. Oracle's convention is the name of the attribute has FS in it.
5-Using AK Developer, lookup the ASF_FUNC_SEC_REG region
6-Drill down into that regions attributes
7-Add a your newly created attribute to this region

The above log file occurs when I create 20-radeon.conf as per the wiki( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI#Configuration)
However if i remove this 20-radeon.conf file , and run startx , the x server starts but crashes immediately.
Please look into this matter , whether i continue on arch or settle back on ubuntu depends on this
    Thanks in advance

You're using a laptop with hybrid graphics, correct? If so, you may want to check the wiki articles on hybrid graphics and PRIME. PRIME allows you to use hybrid graphics properly, and the hybrid graphics article has some important notes on ATI cards. You can also check out the bumblebee branch that supports ATI, but good luck, it doesn't seem to be having much success.
If you can't get the open source drivers to work, you can try the proprietary drivers.

  • Can't run software in Classic mode

Boy, I've tried to fix this myself and just can't. I have a new out-of-the-box Mac Mini with a generic USB keyboard. I've got some old Mac software (really old) which is really a main reason I bought the mini. I can't get Classic to run because it's not already installed. I have the OS9.2.1 disc, but I can't boot from the CD (I tried pressing C on bootup -- either my Mac can't boot from CD or my keyboard doesn't communicate properly). When I try to run the OS9 installer to get Classic to work, I get the hair-pulling error message that I need to run the installer in Classic
    mode.
A friend said I need the discs which came with the Mini, but I don't think there are any. Can the software which should have come with it be downloaded and burned on to a new CD in order to create a bootable CD?
    Argh!!! Please help!
    Warren

Thanks -- I did try that, just forgot to mention it. the CD isn't one of the options in startup disk. It says I can choose the hard drive or the network, and I've tried both. A friend said that Mac Minis can't boot from CD -- don't know if that's correct or not, but I can't seem to get it as an option.
I've tried to find any CD that may have come with the Mac Mini -- my friend said to look for one called "additional software and apple hardware test CD that came with the Mac Mini" but that is nowhere to be found. Either it didn't actually come with it (my hunch) or the staff in the receiving department took them out for safekeeping and hid them in a drawer somewhere and have forgotten. (Also possible.)
I can't imagine that I'm the only person in the world with this problem, but my tech support staff warned me in the first place. I wanted to try using some macs mixed in with our PC setup (because they can run this software, and because it seemed easy) and they said that they wouldn't be able to provide much support, since they're all PC people. I figured "how much support can it need? They're designed to be easy to use!" Oh well.
I'd really be keen to get any more suggestions from anyone who can help!!

  • Run report in character mode

I changed the settings of Report Properties to "Design in Chracter Units", and properties of Main Section, Section: "Width" and "Height", "Report Width" and "Report Height". I also changed the settings Preferences of Menu-Tools to "Character Mode" and Rulers in Menu-Format.
However, some reports were changed to character mode (interface), some not when I run them in Report Previewer.
I do not know why. I created and run them on Windows NT.
    Thank you for any instruction.

Did you set the system parameter MODE = Character?
