Can't run updates on computer?

I had a volume that could not be repaired on my HD, so I did an archive and install of OSX. I fixed the majority of my problems, but now I can't look for updates on my computer, Safari won't run, Itunes won't run, can't install the 10.4 upgrade from the install disk.
How do I go about re-installing these items?

Safari may not work after an Archive and Install explains your difficulty.
Now, how do you download those updates? I don't suppose you have any other browser like Firefox or Camino on your computer, do you? If you don't you have the option mentioned in the article I linked earlier, i.e. installing a later version OS. Otherwise you can either get a friend to download one of those browsers and install it, or go to the Apple Store and ask them to download it for you and burn it to disk.

Your G4 (MDD) dual 867MHz model Mac requires the model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 which originally came with that machine. It can not use any other version of OS 9.
The model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 can be installed using the original disk set which came with that machine; that disk set boots to OS X 10.2, but the installer on it can install OS 9.2.2 (Classic) as an option.
There is no stand-alone install disk (such as a retail, i.e. white-label, CD) which can be used to install Classic on that model G4.

When I connect my iotouch and try to run a back up before updating it runs forever and will not backup. I can transfer purchases and was able to sync apps but I can not run update because I can not back up.

Hopefully you aren't doing this with a PC running Windows 2000 since 2000 is not supported.
Try deleting the existing backup and manually creating a new backup.
Go to iTunes > Preferences and under the Devices tab, select and delete the existing backup.
Then right-click on your iPod Touch under Devices in the iTunes source list and at the menu window that appears, select Back Up to create a new backup.

Can't run updater 8.0.2 on Dreamweaver CS3 install

I have that FTP user name and password problem where it's
lost every time you re-start the program. Reading this forum I
found that I needed to use the updater 8.0.2. That downloaded fine
and when I tried to run it I got the following message:
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows
installer service because the program to be upgraded may be
missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the
program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your
computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
I double checked I downloaded the English version of 8.0.2
and I have the English version
My disk is an upgrade disk which I've also had in the drive
during the update.
I tried totally uninstalling dreamweaver and then installing
and doing the update again.
Regardless I get this error, I also get the error with 8.0.1
updater
Any suggestions?

Your subject line says you're trying to run this on DW CS3.
It's already
built in to CS3. The 8.02 updater was for DW 8.

Won't save login info and can't run updater

Help! Dreamweaver 8 won't save the username and password for
my sites and when I tried to run the 8.0.2 updater to resolve the
issue, it says, "The contents of this file cannot be unpaced. The
executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please
obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try
again."
I've downloaded the file several times from adobe with the
same results - help!

Why can't I update my Flash player?

When playing Pogo, I got an alert saying Flash needed updating. I pushed the appropriate button, and was then presented with a page full of confusing instructions. I couldn't understand most of the terms used and I wonder if Adobe can tell me exactly which Flash version is on my computer, then why can't Adobe update my computer without having me determing what my NEW computer has or does and/or what all the terms refer to.
I have a daughter that works in IT department of her employer and she was unsuccessful in updating.
Must I pay someone just to update my Flash player?

An update tries to run, but an error message stating "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again." I can't open Firefox

I click on Firefox and it says that Firefox is installing your updates and will start in a few minutes. Then I get "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again." this cycle never ends. Do I need to deinstall Firefox and re-install? If I do that, do i lose all of my bookmarks, etc?

*Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
*Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer. Do not remove personal data when uninstalling.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

Try telling us exactly what version of iTunes is installed and what if any messages appears when trying to update it.

I'm working on a team using FCPX. Recently, my computer updated FCPX to 10.1.1 (I'm assuming bc I have a newer computer & OS). The others on the team have FCPX, the earlier version.
Because we have projects edited on both version of FCP and we need to be able to transfer projects from one computer to another, I need to be using the earlier version of FCPX. However, I also need to be able to edit the 10-15 projects we've started in 10.1.1. So, I'm looking to somehow run the 2 different versions of FCPX on a single computer.
How could I best accomplish this - thru different users? partitioning the drive? Any suggestions??

Apple changed MobileMe to iCloud and then restricted iCloud to 10.7 users only unfortunately
If your machine is a 64 bit processor Intel Mac you can upgrade to 10.7 for $29, however a lot of your 10.5/10.6/Rosetta based software could cease to function, especially third party hardware drivers for printers, fax machines, all-in-ones, scanners etc.

Also depending how old the machine is, if it can accept 4GB of RAM (preferred), older video card, may not run 10.7 very well or stable.
My advice is to keep at 10.6.8, get a web based email service that's plaform/hardware neutral, forward your iPhone emails there. Gmail/Yahoo Mail for instance.
When your ready for new hardware and all new software, then buy a new machine.
If your going to go to 10.7 on your present hardware, I advise you clone 10.6.8 to a external drive first, that way you can c boot off the 10.6 disk erase the drive completely (necessary to remove hidden Lion Recovery Partition) and option boot off the 10.6.8 clone and reverse clone.

Can no longer update computer (network error)

So I may or may not have been on a questionable site looking for some app add on's for my ipad and I may or may not have gotten a disease.
Since being on these unnamed sites Im unable to update my computer in anyway, or connect to the app store. I get an error that says "Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem" but I go into my network settings and everything is working normally. I can get online, get on the itunes store and everything that requires the network and it works great. I just cant get into the software update, or the app store.
Any ideas being I cant try and reinstall OSX Lion because I cant connect to the app store to install it
