Can't safe CR-File on BOE (InputFileRepository)

Hi,
i'm using BOE XI 3.1 for Linux and CR2008 on a Windows-machine.
If i create a Report and wanna safe it to my Enterprise-Server via Crystal Reports, i can logon the server but while safing-process i get the error-msg "InputFileRepository server isn't running..".
So i checked the server-componente via CMC..and the InputFileRepository-Server IS running.
The finale thing i did was importing the report via CMC..that worked.
So...why was the error-message occured?
Maybe someone else got such a problem.

Does it happen every time you try to save a report from the designer into the enterprise.
If so, you might want to check if the firewall is blocking the input repository port.

Can not safe a file to a True Crypt volume it reports no space

I have a FMP (12.0v4) DB that is about 1.5 MB in size on my Mac.
I moved it to a 8GB TC volume but it stops working. As soon as I try to enter any data it tells me there is not enough space on the disk (see message above). Is there a way to fix this? Or does FMP need loads of space to work?
If I move it to a 4GB USB stick it works fine.
Anybody got an idea as to how to solve this?

No, I understood completely.
If it works on the unencrypted USB stick, perhaps it is the TrueCrypt causing the problem with FileMaker.
You could verify by encrypting the USB stick with TrueCrypt and see if it still works.

My home page is google and it works but when I open a new tab it displays an error message :Firefox can't find the file at chrome://quick_start/content/index.ht

I've made sure a dozen times that my home page is set correctly, and when I hit the home button next to the search bar it works and takes me right to google BUT whenever i open a new tab i get the error that my page cannot load and the web url that it keeps trying to remember is in the error message:
Firefox can't find the file at chrome://quick_start/content/index.html.
of course the last dot is not the url anymore but the end of the sentence for the error message, but i don't ever use chrome ever on my laptop only my cell so what is going on????? help fix god please!!!!!!

Do you have the FastStart extension?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

HELP! How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?

Hi,
I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!

I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)

WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.

Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.

There are a number of things to do like chkdsk and others as well as Windows DVD to do automatic system repairs and find out why.
AppleHFS - the abilty to mount and read HFS volumes can be notorious.
I would rearrange and redo your storage setup and how you use the 4-5 internal hard drive bays.

Can't write cache file for while creating domain in soa 11.1.1.5 on HP-UX

Installing SOA 11.1.1.5 on HP-UX and during domain creation/configuration I am getting the below errors

and have lots of cache file errors for different packages
Any idea what might be wrong and whats the cause of these errors and is it safe to ignore these errors if not what is the work arround. As I already looked at the below post but I don't find */var/tmp/wlstTemp* on my machine as suggested in the post below.
SOA 11.1.1.5 install got can't write cache file
So wondering if there's anything else I can do i.e. while creating or configuring a Domain pass some parameter to config.sh etc.

Can't find admin files on former startup disk - now 2nd drive on MacPro

Help, My G5 tower died and I bought a MacPro tower. I put the drive from the G5 in the MacPro as a second drive and it runs fine but I can't find any files I created under the root user. I used Root for about six months while my system was dying a slow death due to some motherboard failure. I kept losing access to the user accounts but not root so I just worked in that. I know the root password and all but I have no idea how to even find the files. I can ironically now access all of the user files but everything done under "root/admin" is invisible.
Is there a way to simply access files like iWeb sites, etc on the old G5 drive? Is there a way to install OSX on the backup and re-access the G5 files?

Do you mean you are looking for the root user's home folder?
You can find that under /var/root on your old G5 disk. From Finder, select Go menu > Go to Folder..., and enter /Volumes/G5diskname/var/root.
You need root permission to get into that directory though, so if you want to use Finder you will have to be logged in as root. Or, a safer way, is to just remain logged in to your regular user account, right-click the G5 disk, Get Info, and select "Ignore ownership on this volume" under the ownershop & permissions section. Then you should have full access to everything on the drive without having to log in as root.

Can't open movie files in browser or email

Hi, I'm not sure if this issue has been dealt with yet; however, I can't open movie files contained in emails or in my Safari Browser--even ones labeled as QT files. I am running Quick Time 7.0.4 on my 10.3.9 eMac. This is a recent problem, as I didn't have this difficulty until the last month or so. I had unchecked the "Open Safe Files" box in Safari's preferences some time ago as a precaution against a virus/worm, but rechecked it after the last one or two Security Updates. What else should I do to resume opening movie files? QT Player runs just fine with movie trailers, etc, but not in mails or the browser.

Under the Safari Help menu choose "Installed Plug-ins". This will confirm your QuickTime install.
Under Safari Preferences/Security make sure you've got plug-ins enabled.
Try dragging the email attachment to the Desktop and see if it plays from there.

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?
All the footage, and all the libraries to all programs, or on a new pegasus 12tb raid 5 setup fyi.

Mac Network does not work properly, can't safe, access only in safemode

Hi guys
I just got a nice IMac 27" and really like it.
Now I set up a network to move files back and forth with my Macbook Pro.
Now I encounter the following problems:
- I can not safe files on the IMac from my Macbook
- Access to files on IMac are only in "safe mode", meaning I have to safe first with another name on my Macbook and can not modify them straight up.
I have set the access rights to read and write with a special setup username and password. So that can not be the issue.
Have tried to google this problem but no luck unfortunately.
Hope you guys can help asap.

Very often a small mistake in configuration can be responsible for WLAN functionality.
For me your posting is not so clear and because of that I will ask you some questions:
1. Is your notebook preinstalled with delivered recovery image or you have installed your own OS and which one?
2. Is WLAN card listed and properly recognized in device manager?
3. Is the WLAN enabled with WLAN switch placed at the right side of the notebook?
4. Can you use FN+F8 key combination to enable/disable WLAN card?
5. Are you sure the WLAN card is enabled properly?
6. Do you use Windows WLAN settings for WLAN configuration?
7. Have you tried to scan the surrounding area using Windows or ConfigFree utility?

When I open Firefox I get this message: “Firefox can't find the file at /b". As a browser Firefox is working for me but I have to click the google search button to connect to the internet. I have tried everything I can think of including uninstalling, reinstalling and updating firefox but to no avail. Please advise. Thank you!!

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Till now, I only know there are new API provided in Lov, but how about other functions?

Can't use my files in file manager

hello. I find it weird and quite irritating that i can view all my files in file manager. But when i actually want to use a file they are not available.

The "tracker" thing maintains a database of all the media files on your device.. for example, artist, album, trackname, length, bit rate of music files... resolution of photos stuff like that.
This is how the phone can quickly show you a complete list of photos, it lists the database, rather than scanning the phone for suitable files (which takes much longer)
the tracker indexer process, iirc, also watches when files get added to the phone (NOT via USB.. I'll get to that in a mo) When a file gets changed / added, the tracker is woken up and examines the new file adding it to the database..
If the tracker database becomes corrupted, everything gets a bit screwy
When you use USB storage to copy on data, the tracker can't watch as it happens.. instead when you unplug the phone from your PC, it has to scan for new files.. its slower, but normally just as effective..
the -r option instructs the tracker system to bin the old database and start from scratch.. it'll go and rescan your mass storage (and SD card if you have one) and put the stuff back in the database..
If you have a broken file, there's always the risk that when it tries to "index" the file, it messes the database up and you end up with no files showing again..
the -r is safe, especially since you can't see any files at the moment..
it is NOT the same as rm -r
it is an abbreviation for --hard-reset as in delete the data and reset.. but your files them selves will not be altered at all..

Can't Safe Boot with 10.6.2 and GTX 285

Can't safe boot with 10.6.2 and NVIDIA GTX 285 (2009 Mac Pro).
What the heck am I supposed to do, take out the graphics card every time I want to safe boot?!

No, I think what it is, is that the GTX 285 drivers somehow are being treated as 3rd party extensions not to be loaded on a safe boot, but the problem is that without those drivers, even if I switch my monitor over to my GT 120 card, it still won't boot. Ugh.
I am considering reinstalling 10.6 over on top of my current system, then putting the 10.6.2 on top of that. If I do this, do I risk losing any preferences or having to reinstall any 3rd-party software? At this point, I'll happily reinstall whatever it takes... I just didn't want to have to do a clean system where I have to track down every single bookmark file and saved preference for my main apps, but it could be this is now starting to take more time than it simply would have to do that from the get-go. Sigh.
