Can't save as 'eps' in Indesign cs6 trial.

I am trying to design a logo and I am using a trial version of Indesign cs6. However, it will not let me "save as" an eps file. It only allows 'indesign cc template", "indesign cc document" and "Indesign CS4 or later". How can I save my logo as an 'eps' on a transparent background so I can use it in the creation of my business card?

All the google help pages say that you can save an eps file on a transparent background

But I don't have the option in my Indesign "save as" > "format" drop down menu. It is so frustrating.
I have been able to do it before, in Indesign cs6 on a PC.
When you save a logo as an 'eps' file you onle see the actual logo making it very easy and functional to work with when using the logo to create a design. When you save it as anythig else the logo appears on a white page. Like a letterhead. on a document.

After I deleted Adobe File Manager because it was always popping up annoyingly, I got a similar "damaged application - reinstall" message. However, InDesign didn't seem to be affected. Nevertheless, I reinstalled AFM, and fixed the problem, except for the annoying appearances of AFM.
If it's not present on your system, you can search Google for "download adobe application manager mac" without quotes, to download and install it.

How do I get past, "Can't save preferences message" in PS CS6?

Could not save Preferences because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to ensure the file is unlocked and you have permission to access the file. If the problem persists, save the document to a different file or duplicate it in the Finder.
Get me past this message. Please! Nothing I have read applies exactly to eliminating this infuriating message. How do I get past, “Can’t save preferences message” in PS CS6?

I have tried all the regular stuff. This problem only showed up in OSX Lion. Up till then all was well at Snow Leopard and Adobe CS5.5 Suite. After upgrading to OSX Lion all Hell broke loose. Quite a catastrophe of conflicts. In Design wouldn’t launch. A problem with Suitcase Fusion 4. But PS CS6 had two major problems. One the Epson Artisan 835 could not be seen in Imports. A conflict between 32 and 64 bit formats and again, drivers. But the most persistent and perplexing problem has been that of the preferences. Oh and one other thing, whenever you quit the program, PS CS6, a message appears saying that the program has quit for no good reason and did I want to send a report to Adobe and/or Mac. Well I must have sent them a thousand reports. What I most suspect is file damage and incompatibility. What I have tried has not found the files to replace those that will reset themselves. i.e. .plst etc. without buggering up the works. I have tried to figure out what might have caused such changes between Snow and Lion other than the well known differences regarding supported stuff, formats and out of date software i.e. Rosetta. Some how or other I suspect damaged files. The kind of damage where a single character is missing and nothing works but no file checker in the world can detect as screwing up the works. Now in several cases a lot of re-installation has been done. But again no help. So putting a finger on the culprit file(s) has not been easy. Fortunately this machine has four active drives so reverting back to where all was OK is easy. But as for going forward, well that is at a standstill.
So, if any body out there has any insight to these three problems I would be most interested to see what you got.

Indesign CS6 trial

Is there a way to get an Indesign CS6 trial until I can afford the entire student and teacher suite? If not, what would be a possible workaround? It seems that CC offers some access to older versions. What membership does this presuppose? Not just a trial, I immagine? Would student and teacher be sufficient? (Is this available on a monthly basis also? I would subscribe for 1 or 2 months until I purchase the suite.)

Indesign CS6 Trial Installation Error

I Tried to install the indesign cs6 trial, but everytime I try it stops and says it failed the Genuine Product Test. I downloaded the program straight from the Adobe website so it should be genuine, what should I do?

It still would indicate that you had a corruption of the install files. Did you utilize the Adobe Download Assistant or a direct download? If you tried the Adobe Download Assistant previously then you may want to try the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

How do I save my file using InDesign CS6 so that it can be opened with CS5?

I know other people asked similar questions but I can't find anything that helps me figure my issue out.
Basically, I packaged my file using InDesign CS6. When I sent it to the person it needed to be sent to, she couldn't open it. She was running CS5.
So now I'm trying to REpackage it still using CS6 but when I make an IDML version and try to package it, it says that I need to SAVE it. Well the only options are CS6, which I can't use again, and another IDML version. If I did the IDML it would just save it as another untitled document and then I'd have to start all over.
Actually I just tried that, and InDesign crashed.
Any suggestions?

Hey,
There is no such function in InDesign as 'saving to a lower version' (as it is in e.g. FrameMaker). There are interchange formats: obsolete INX (CS2,CS3,CS4) and current IDML (CS5, CS5.5, CS6).
You need to export (ctrl+e) previously saved document into IDML and attach to existing INDD file (Attaching is not necessary as IDML is a self-sufficient file). Also it's a really good idea to attach a PDF file (from CS6) as there might be some differences when opening a IDML from higher file in lower version program.
Final package could look like this:

          original file.idml
          original file.pdf

How do I find the pantone+ swatches in InDesign CS6, such as 2239c? It is not visible in the swatches panel? Can anyone else see this swatch in Indesign Cs6 or Illustrator Cs6?

From the Swatches panel Flyout menu, choose New swatch.
In the new swatch definition dialog, under Type choose Spot, and under Mode choose Pantone + Solid Coated.
There are some legacy colors that are not included inthe Pantone + series. You can add these to both ID and Illustrator by following the directions in Pantone Plus color libraries (Thanks, Vikrant ).
2239 isn't in my old swatchbooks as a spot color or the legacy books for the program, either. Are you sure that's a vaild number? Perhaps youpi really mean 223-9, a light blue-gray process color? If that's the case, you'd need to specify Process instead of Spot, and choose the appropriate book fromthe mode dropdown. The 223 series seems not be included in the + books, but it is inthe legacy books if you add them according to the instuctions in the link above.

Can't save any custom workspaces AE CS6? (recently upgraded to OSX 10.9 rMBP)

since transferring my CS6 across to my new laptop running 10.9 -
I can't save any custom workspaces... it's driving me crazy having to move everything around every time i restart AE.
- I arrange the workspace and save it as a custom name - this appears in the menu.
*However* - upon restart of AE - this custom name is no longer there, and the workspace is once again, an old workspace I had, with windows everywhere.
- I can reset STANDARD workspace - but even then - when I change to another workspace, then change back to STANDARD again, it reverts to the older, messsy version of standard workspace i had...
so there's some issue with saving for me....
- I checked 'get info' to see that my workspace related preferences in the library folder had read/write access and even changed that to everyone has access...
After doing this, I got this error below, when resetting STANDARD workspace, saving project, then switching to another workspace - and then switchng back to STANDARD...
it still brought up the messy workspace version, not my newer reset version, and gave this message:
"After Effectswarning: Error parsing properties list from file ".......Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/11.0/ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace11.xml"
(I"ve also repaired permissions with Disk Utility ( there were a lot needing repair, but none were explicitly adobe, and didn't solve problem on laptop reboot )
I've been trying to find a solution online, without success so far...
Any advice greatly appreciated...
(And I wonder what this problem might have wider ramifications for my version of AE? )

I'm having this same problem and yet, I did not migrate my software from one computer to another.
I downloaded AE CC 2014 off of Adobe's installer.
I can't get my workspace to be remembered at all. I can make different workspaces, naming each one. But when AE restarts they are all gone.
Any one else with this problem?

Can I Globally Bind Fields in InDesign CS6 Forms?

I'm used to using LiveCycle Designer to create forms, where I had a great deal of control over how the forms would look and feel and could create very complex interactivity. Particularly useful was the ability to create form fields that would repeat information throughout the rest of the form through global bindings.
Because I'm now trying to create forms for use on mobile devices, I want to create that same level of interactivity in InDesign CS6. Anyone have any advice on how I can go about doing this?

InDesign is only giving you access to the features of Acrobat (Acro forms). Acrobat has some features not accessible from within InDesign.
There is no feature in either InDesign or in Acrobat called "global binding" for Acro forms that I'm aware of.
Your best bet is asking questions about Acro forms in the Acrobat Forms forum.

Can't save as eps; Error ID = -61

Working on Mac, Leopard. In Illustrator CS5.1, when I go to save a new file as an eps, I get the error message:
Can't save some resource data, but the artowrk was saved successfully. The file is locked. Use the Get Info command in the Finder to unlock the file. ID = -61
Well, since it's a new document, I can't Get Info, so I can't imagine how the file is locked. When I try a second time to save, it lets me. What gives?

Wow. That was very interesting.
I wonder if this is what is causing problems with PDFs we create (saving to our server) from CS5.5 applications; intermittently, when we email these PDFs, some recipients cannot open the files. The workaround Adobe suggested was to open the file (on the server) in Acrobat and resave over the original. So far, that has worked. But that's all done to files on the server, so maybe this is not related? (sorry, just thinking out loud).

Can only open .indd files within InDesign CS6

I am using InDesign CS6 (cloud version) on Windows XP. I can only open .indd files by opening InDesign CS6, doing File>Open, and then browsing for the file.
If I try to go to the folder where the .indd file is located (without opening InDesign CS6), and double-click on it, it acts like it doesn't know what kinf of file it is.
Another co-worker of mine is experiencing the same thing on Windows 7.
Does anyone have suggestions on what to try to fix this?

Uninstall, run the clean tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3), and reinstall. The symptoms you describe are typical if the icon handler .dll file is damaged.
Try turning off your anti-virus and spyware scanners, and anthing else not required to run the system before you reinstall.

Can I change and reinstall my Indesign CS6 from my (soon to be old) windows pc to my (new) apple pc?

I have Windows licenses for Indesign CS6, vs 8 and Photoshop purchased & downloaden through Adobe about two years ago. I am now switching to an Apple pc but do not want to buy new packages or creative cloud since my purchased packages still suit me perfectly..
I know this question has been asked before but I cannot find a definite answer. So therefor I hope someone can clarify this to me.

InDesign CS6 trial version no longer working...

I have the trial version of InDesign CS6 installed. I was working in it last week and went in tonight and could not get in as the "continue trial" button was not available. I purchased a subscription however it said I needed to download InDesign CC. I am not able to download CC as it says InDesign does not support the current operating system. How is it that I was able to get in one week ago and now all of the sudden my operating system doesn't work?!

ID CC and CS6 are two different versions. You can use CS6 via Creative Cloud by installing it under the "Otehr Versions" link from the ID icon on the web page for your CC account. for your serialization and activation issues refer to this:
