Can't save existing files

Hi,
I have just upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.10. Prior to the upgrade I backup up my user account to an external Firewire disk with Lacie's Silver keeper - the most recent version downloaded from their web site.
I copied back my documents from the documents folder of the old user account to the documents folder of a new user account on the computer with 10.4.10.
Any of the documents that were copied I can open and edit, however I cannot save the documents. I can open and save new documents.
I have re-installed the software onto the upgraded mac from installer disks.
I have checked user permissions via the Get Info command and all documents appear to have sufficient permissions.
The problems have occurred so far with Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, Iwork 5, Text Edit.
Copying data from one document to a new document then trying to save ends up with the same problem.
Christo

This may have to do with "ownership& permissions" of the document. Do a "get-info" (command-I) on the document and see if ownership & permissions includes 'read and write'. If not you will have to change it.

  • Infopath submit - how to hide - Save as dialog box - You can only save this file to the current site

    HI,
I have a infopath form. In the submit options, i have used the below:
    submit options -
    sharepoint document library
Data connection - Sharepoint Library Submit
    Doc library - lib location
    File name: concat("User Info - ", ResourceName, "-", PersonalID)
Allow overwrite if file exists is checked.
When I try to save a record, I am getting a popup:
    Save As:
You can only save this file to the current site
    File Name: textbox
    save location: doc lib.
    save, cancel buttons.
How to override this save as option(save as option should not be shown to user), and save the file using the file name mentioned?
    Thanks

Are you clicking "Save" when you're using the form or "Submit"??
You should be using "Submit" and it will ... submit your form to the document library with the file name you specified.
To disable the "Save" button, click on "File" then "Form Options". Under the "Filler Features" area you can uncheck the box beside "Save and Save As". Click OK then re-publish your form.

  • How can I save a file from an email  on an iPad to upload to my web based ap

I use my iPad in my business, I get emails sending me files that I then need to upload up to my Salesforce.com web based application. I can't see where I can either save the file to or pick the file up from ?  Is there a way to do this or is at an iPad limitation ?

    Hi,
What is the mail app that you use to read emails on your iPad?  Is it Apple Mail?
Would you take a look at the Mail section of the following FAQ document to see if it answers your question?

  • I've doubled my RAM but still can't save big files in photoshop...

I have just upgraded my Ram from the shipped 4GB to 8GB but I still can't save big images in photoshop. It seems to have made no difference to the speed of general tasks and saving and I can't save big files in photoshop at all. I already moved massive amounts of files off my computer and onto my external hard drive, so there is much less in my computer now, and twice the RAM but it is making no noticeable difference. When I click memory, under 'about my mac' it shows that the RAM is installed and now has twice the memory. Could this be something to do with photoshop? I'm running CS6.

Also, I just calculated 220 cm into inches and this is roughly 86.5 inches. Over 7 feet in length.
WIth an image that large, you may want to consider down sampling to a lower DPI to help with being able to work on and process images of this size much easier and it will be easier for your Print house to process, as well.
You might want to consider working with these rather large images at 225 DPI instead of 300 if resolution at close distances is still a concern.
Or what you good try is working with the images at 300 DPI, but then save them/export them as a Jpeg image at the highest image quality setting.
I do a lot of project where I use a high resolution jpeg image to save on image proceesing overhead.
The final printed images still come out pretty clear, clean and crisp without having to process those large files at a print house or having to deal with using that full resolution image in a page layout or illustration program.

  • Can I save my files to a flash drive?

How can I save my files to a thumb drive?

    Hi !@#$%^&*()_+ (I hear ya!),
Are you referring to files stored in your Acrobat.com online account? If so, you can log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files and select the files that you want to download/save to a flash drive. By default, they should download to your Downloads folder. From there, you can move them on to a flash drive.
    Best,
    Sara

  • "Can't Save the File. Can't Print the File" error in Illustrato CS3

I get the error "CAN'T SAVE THE FILE. CAN'T PRINT THE FILE". In Illustrator CS3
According to adobe this is an issue of having more that 28 spot colors, so I went to the swatch palette and pulled the fly-out menu out and told it to remove any unused swatches which took me down to 6 spot colors, but I still get the error when trying to save it to EPS format, which is the format I have to have for the ripping program for the vinyl printer in my sign shop. Saving it in AI format causes no issues.
Is there still something I am missing?
    Thanks
    Roger

I appreciate your comment, I see what your saying.
However...my issue is...I am making a vehicle wrap on a full size van for a radio station and it consist of pictures of a clouds for the background with two pictures of music artist that are associated with the kind of music this station plays, then there is a big round logo of the radio station that involves three spot colors (Purple, white and one of which is technically the black "K" ribbon) along with the web address of the station but it is of the same colors of the radio station logo...then there is the corporate logo that utilizes another spot color (blue)so as you can see I need the spot colors that I'm using.
So just to make sure I'm clear...I can only have 28 different individual colors, even though I have photos involved in the rendering? How can I make that work because photos obviously have more than 28 colors in them. It doesn't make sense because you can do a live trace on something in literally hundreds of colors.
Would it help if I flattened the photo work from photoshop before I move it to Illustrator? The reason I ask is because when I go to save and choose EPS the next save dialogue that comes up...down at the bottom there is two exclamations that one says something about embedding fonts, which I'm not concerned about and the other is something about there is some artwork that needs flattening.
Please bear with me here cause I am definitely a newbie!! My boss threw to the wolves on this adventure and I am learning by reading and trial and error.
    Thanks
    Roger

  • Can I save pdf files in the cloud?

Can I save pdf files in the cloud?

Yes. But it depends on what "cloud" yuo are referring to. Perhaps you should explain what you are attempting or want to do in a little more detail.

  • HT5925 Can I save pdf files on iCloud?

Can I save pdf files on iCloud?

    I installed a PDF reader.
It allows attaching pdf files to my iPod and synching with iTunes.
But I don't use iCloud, still. I do all backups local to iTunes library.
However, it should work no matter where or what IF you have files attached to an app that allows files.
When I make changes to files attached to apps, they change and show under iTunes - tried renaming a file on the computer and changed on iPod.

  • Is Photoshop CS6 can't save a file more than 2gegabites?

Is Photoshop CS6 can't save a file more than 2gegabites?

It depends on the file format, many formats are limited to 2 or 4 Gigabytes.
PSB (Large Document Format) is not so limited.

  • Can't save excel files

Getting an error when trying to save files in excel: "Someone lese is working in 'Network path' right now please try again later.
All PC's are Windows 7 and Office 2013. I can confirm that the file is not open by anyone else.
This is becoming very frustrating and I can see other threads on this issue with no resolution.

If you just can't save Excel file located in shared drive normally, it should not a Office product issue, maybe there are some other applications in the server causes these issue. Check permission and try to disable the preview and detailed
    view to test this issue.

  • Can't save any file with any name-InDesign CC

can't save any file with any name-file DBTmp4376-863643269 is damaged (error code:0)
    InDesign CC, OS version 10.9.1
I explored solutions to failure in background task alert which did not work. Been using adobe products since they came on the scene. Nothing like this. Please help.

    I'm using version 9.2.
Yes, it started with a new file. Support gave me the solution to save it to my desktop which worked. When I put it back in the original folder and opened/save it would not save to that folder. Created a new folder and was able to open & save to the new folder. That seems to be a workable solution. How a folder can become corrupt is a bit scarey.
In experimenting with solutions I received another error "failure in background task alert" and discovered CS5 problems with background task.
However the solutions for CS5 did not work in my incidence.
I sure would like to prevent this from happening again. If you have any insights please share them. Otherwise I will just accept the experience as another computer workaround and be thankful that I have it.
    Thanks for responding.

  • I can't save any file on externals disk

Big externals disk (above 100 GB) appears with orange color on the lateral bar. I can't save any file in this externals disk, I only can copy or read files from this disk. However that is possible in small external disk (16, 8GB or below) that appears with white color on lateral bar.
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks

Check the Format of the external drive as it might be formatted for PC read/write but Mac Read only ?
Select in then hit command-I and look under 'Format' - NTFS is PC 'standard' - if you want a drive to be read and written to by both PC's and Mac's then you need to format it as FAT32
