Can't save mac mail drafts

When creating a new message in mac mail I cannot save it as a draft as I have been able to do in the past. After writting a message an error will pop up a minute or so later and warn me that I cannot save the file as a draft and any attempt to save the draft is unsuccessful. Any suggestions?

What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? Who is the provider? If IMAP or .Mac, what are your Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors > Drafts settings?

I tried to make a draft and safe it in mail and it said error, can't save as a draft.
    Any suggestions?

First you should copy and paste the contents of the e-mail somewhere else, then try completely quitting out of mail and turning off the computer. Then turn it back on and open mail.
Mail should save messages you are working on but have not sent to drafts automatically.

  • IPhone Cannot Save E-mail Drafts

The current iPhone OS cannot save e-mail drafts. (The Draft folder displays, but an e-mail created using the iPhone cannot be saved as a draft.) E-mail drafts must be saved on a Mac, after which they can be accessed on an iPhone. This is problematic, not only limiting the iPhone user to the choices of either sending or deleting a current e-mail message, but also creating the need to create drafts ahead of time at home on a Mac in order to access them on the iPhone (which defeats the whole purpose of a draft; an unfinished e-mail message which could not be foreseen ahead of time, that needs to be finished later).
For example, the current iPhone OS will not let you enter multiple e-mail addresses for an e-mail message. A "not-very-good" work-around for this is to create a draft on a Mac in Mac Mail ahead of time with the desired group of multiple e-mail addresses entered in the 'To:' field. Then, when you want to send an e-mail message to a large group of people from your iPhone, you can access the draft e-mail to do it. But once the draft has been sent from the iPhone, it disappears from the Draft folder, and you have go home to create another one on the Mac computer before being able to access it from your iPhone again. Giving the iPhone the ability to save an e-mail message as a draft (not just view drafts), and have the draft sync with MobileMe to be viewed in Mac Mail and MobileMe Mail would eliminate this problem.

I have used an application called "Download All Files" from the Play Store (formerly Android Market) to allow me to download any kind of attachment in emails. Give that a try and see if it works for you.

Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

For whatever reason, I can't use (mac) mail 3.6 on my mac G5 with Charter ISP.   I would like to try Thunderbird (TB) - I'm now using Firefox 3.6.28.  But I can't navigate through Mozilla to find older versions  of TB.  Can you suggest a URL for down loading older versions of TB, or, other alternative email programs?

I have recently moved from Thunderbird to SeaMonkey - much better and up to date with the latest Mozilla code.

  • How can I get Mac mail to open winmail.dat attachments on lion 10.7.3

How can I get Mac mail to open letter attachments winmail.dat??   (Lion 10.7.3) Any help appreciated...

    Sorry peterskine,
it's true in part. There's more then one article on the subject "Recipients receive a winmail.dat attachment":
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/outlook-help/recipients-receive-a-winmail-dat- attachment-HA010153018.aspx?CTT=1
The odd thing is that my colleague and me use the same release mountain lion and we received the same email from someone on Outlook2007. He received the mail with the attachment, whilst I saw a "Winmail.dat". It already happened to me on snow-leopard, some month ago. Up til today I don't know what the difference between our machines is.
But it is interesting: the same OS, the same mail-clients (Apple Mail) and still different results.
Note: on my machine it used to work properly. It just suddenly happened that I started to receive winmail.dat files in stead of proper attachments.
When I have more time on hand, I cant try to find out why this happens.

  • Suddenly can not access .mac mail from Apple Mail

Suddenly, I can not access .mac mail from Apple Mail (Version 2.1.1 (752.3)).
For quite a few years I have been using Apple Mail to access my .mac email. As of last Friday, Mail stopped working. Nothing has changed (accept for the installation of the latest OS X security upgrade - SecUpd2006-008Univ.pkg).
I can still access my .mac mail through the .mac web browser and I can still access it through SnapperMail on my Palm Treo 680. But, when I open Apple Mail on my MacBook, it does not do anything, just sits there. When I open the Activity Viewer window, 3 activities are going on:
    1. Opening Mailbox
    2. Synchronizing with Server (Connecting to...)
    3. Synchronizing with Server (Synchronizing with...)
After a few minutes, the error triangle appears next to the Inbox and .Mac logos on the left hand panel.
I have tried Apple Mail from several locations (different ISP / WiFi / LAN) over several days but get the same problem.
Does anyone have ideas for a solution?
    Regards
    Peter

Let’s first make sure that the update is installed properly, and post back with your observations when done.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the update that appears to not have been installed properly. You may also need to reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with your computer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for PPC
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for Intel
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

  • Mac Mail drafts don't appear in Gmail and vice-versa. HELP??

When I start writing a message in Mountain Lion's Mac Mail and save it as a draft, it appears locally, but not on Gmail or iOS Mail. It does however appear in imap/[draft] on Gmail and I cannot edit it. Messages that are drafted in Gmail or iOS Mail appear in each other's drafts but not in Mac Mail's. AOL mail on the other hand does not have this issue. Messages drafted on any device show up on the other device. See attached schematic for clarification.
I have tried things such as "Mailbox" > "Use this Mailbox For" in Mac Mail, but that seemed to make matters worse. Copies of drafts remained after sending emails, nothing was properly syncing, etc. It basically became a giant mess. I've searched long and hard and can't find anything that solves my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how to remedy the problem? Is it even fixable?

Verify that the user names and passwords are entered correctly.
Restoring from backup does not seem to always restore the password for email accounts.

  • I set up my mac mail account on the computer using all the same info as the phone but I still can't get mac mail on the computer.

Ever since icloud came out my desktop has been a traffic jam of pop ups. Apple Passwords are recognized in one app but rejected in another. I'm never able to set up my .mac mail it just won't receive.
The new iphoto is a complicated mess. Once you email photos to a friend you are stuck in the mail portion and have to close out to get out.

  • How can I use Mac Mail to send a delayed mail?

I am trying to send a delayed email, meaning the email is not sent immediately
when the send button is pressed but at a pre-determined time.
I have looked through Google, tried different third party scripts available, including
Mail Scripts 2.10.3 by Andreas Amann, but none is supported under Mac OS X Lion.
I believe Mac Mail itself does not support this feature (to my disappointment),
but I read about using iCal and Automator to do my intended purpose.
However, I am not familiar with script-writing. If someone can provide me a
step-by-step procedure OR give me another way to do my intended purpose,
    it will be highly appreciated.

I opened Airport Utility today and it appears to have been simplified to the point where you can't do much with it these days.
Yes, welcome to the Fisher Price toy box utility.. where nothing in the way of advanced usage is offered.
Is there a way to accomplish what I want to do that is reasonably simple?
You can put time controls onto the offending addresses.
But if the hackers know anything at all they know how to access the MAC address of the computer and change it.. so the effectiveness of this is limited.
Change the current setup and password.. You must use WPA2 Personal and I recommend you use a pure alphanumeric password, mix case and numbers of 20 characters or more for your situation.. do not give that password to anyone.. protect the admin password of the TC itself equally well but with a different password. And protect the physical access to the TC from anyone in your home.. because the fact is all security on the TC is an illusion if the TC has open access.
See how to find passwords here.
i forgot my password for my router, how can I change them.
So anyone can discover your passwords without your knowledge and leave no trace on your system.
If you make no progress.. I suggest replacement of the TC as the main router of your network.. you need something with controls.. and even better controls that allow you to block people.
The favourite one now is older Netgear WNDR3800 . .you might need to buy from ebay although a few new ones are still around.. alternatively the WNDRMACv2 is simply the same hardware in a white box.. instead of black.
Load gargoyle firmware onto it.. sorry if I even point to where you can find this info my post will be deleted.. I can say it.. just cannot help further.. so use google.. there are lots of posts and let me assure you this get combo.
You can continue to use TC at what it does best.. a dumb wireless AP and location for TM backups.

  • How can I get 'Mac mail' to work with PC exchange server

My employers have just upgraded to a new Exchange server and now mail won't work on my mac. The only option I have been given is to use Outlook web access, but it is not ideal for my working needs. The sticking point is that mail wants to connect via IMAP, but the server isn't configured for this. I used to be set up as a POP3 account, but this is not longer an option with our administrators. Is there any way I can continue to use 'Mac Mail'?
