Can't save movie captures to server...only to client

l have iMovie 11 (9.0) on a 10.6.8 client.  I can't save movie clips to the server, but can save to the client. When I try to "File->Import from camera" (local iSight), then "capture", on the dialog that pops up I see "Save To:" with three shares:
1) "Mac HD" (local main partition),
2) "Data Store" (local data partition), and
3) "SERVER-USERDATA" (the main area on the server for network user data).
Share#1,2 show lots of gigs free, and I can save to these areas. (But I think I'll have a problem with network users if they log onto another machine, the clip won't be available.)
Share#3 shows 0gig free.  But there is plenty of space on the server.  If I try to save here, i get a dialog that says "... you may not have permissions to write to "/Network/Servers/rbserver.lan/SERVER-USERDATA/iMovieEvents.localized."
Where does it pull these sharepoints from?  (SERVER-USERDATA is NOT a share of it's own, there are shares "under" it, like /server-userdata/students/...)
2 Questions:
1) any idea why it's not recognizing any free space on server share?
2) If I want to change the sharepoint that shows up for iMovie clip saving, where can I specify that? (on the client)

thanks Abhilash.
i've never configured pass-through html for the cr for enterprise viewers before but others have...please see this thread. you may wish to get this to work first before you get too far.
even if you don't use webelements and write your own embedded html & javascript, you need to activate pass-through html as that's the required feature. a simple test to see if you've got it to work is to create a formula to put on your report like the following and if the tags don't show up then your implimentation was successful.
'<DIV>this is a div</DIV>'
once that works, you can copy the syntax for the weautorefresh and create a formula based on that syntax and it should work in theory. however, the code for that function was written for the dhtml viewer for crystal reports and not the viewer for crystal reports for enterprise.
please do let us know how this part goes though.

  • Path does not exit - While trying to save file on SharPoint Server 2013 from client machine

    Hi,
I have installed Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise Edition on my testing Lab environment (On VM Workstation 10) on Windows Server 2012 with SQL server 2012, I can access all files stored at SharePoint Server from any physical machine, I can share
a single file among different people to work simultaneously, but here i stuck on saving any file from client machine to directly on SharePoint Server, Attached is the snap shot, whenever I try to save any file directly It says Path Does Not Exist, If I drag
and drop any file directly to SharePoint I do not see any error message.
I read from different posts that I need to Enable Desktop Experience Feature on Server 2012, which I installed but no positive result gained :(
I will appreciate for any possible help?

  • How can I save temporary data in Server?

    Hi all,
I need to save some data in server and share to many users. I cannot save them in cookie, session. because they are in client and cannot be shared to each other. The only methed I found is save them to database, but for some temporary and often changed data that may be a bad idea. Can I just save them in the memory of Server?
    Thanks.

The session attributes, request attribues/parameters and so on are also stored in server's memory. So please don't think that the server's memory is ultimately the application scope. It's just the JVM heap memory where all Java variables/references are stored.

  • Can I save MOV files to MPEG-2 Format?

Can I save my MOV files to MPEG-2 files? I bought the Pro version because it seems that almost no one I send MOV movies to has the player and I have to walk them through the setup. I was hoping the Pro version would help, but the only common format I can export to is AVI - which are very large files. I was hoping to exort to MPEG-2, but I only see MPEG-4 format, which I can't open in Windows Media Player 10 (even though it says it can.)
Can the Pro version do it, or should I have bought another program like ConvertMovie 2.1 instead?

QTPro cannot export mpeg-2 files on a Mac or PC. They do sell a mpeg2playbackcomponent that works in Windows or Mac but it will not export mpeg-2 format even if you buy QT Pro. Pro and the component will export mpeg2 to other video formats but will not export the soundfrom mpeg-2. Here is a FAQ link that mentions somemore those limitations.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/faq.html
Since you do have Pro you may want to try this avi codec for QT. It is not as modern as some of the other QT codecs for .mov files but it does make reasonably good avi files that will play on a PC with no need for special playback software. Indeo5 for QT for Windows
One way to increase quality is to reduce the frame size to 320x240 and the FPS to 15 and then use the saved data space for increasing the datarate. I have made Indeo 5 videos in Windows98SE that look nearly as good as Sorenson3.

  • Calendar can't save event to exchange server

Since moving to Yosemite I've been getting this error message with calendar - "Calendar can't save event "{event name}" to the Exchange server."
I'm unable to find any fix, including turning on/off time zone support. I've also re-established the exchange account more than once - each time the error eventually comes back (with a different calendar event).
Here's a link to a discussion on this subject, however, it was created under OS X Mountain Lion. I never encountered this issue prior to Yosemite. Thus, I created a new discussion here under OS X Yosemite.
Re: Calendar - Exchange sync issue
Has anyone created a workaround yet?

I had this issue too. Since all my data was present on the exchange server, I decided for the "delete" approach.  First i quit the calendar app, then I went into library/calendars. There i deleted all files including Calendar cache and several folders ending on .exhange and .calendar.  After a reboot i reconfigured my exchange account and everything seems to work fine now.

  • Acrobat XI standard (Windows) - can't save PDF Form in server

We created a PDF Form (Acrobat 11 standard) and located in company server. After fill up, it will be close & saved by script. It is working for some persons, but few person face the problem when they save PDF form in server "The file may be read only or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.". It is sure that others not opened PDF form parallely.
Please guide how to solve this issues.

The message is telling the user either another program has the file open or another user is using the form.
Other programs that may trigger the file lock or form in use are Windows Explorer in the Preview mode, anti-virus software, or backup software. It is even possible that the server has lost track of the lock on the file.

  • Gedit can't save to mounted ftp server

I mounted an ftp server with curlftpfs, as the wiki recommends this method:
    sudo curlftpfs ftp://some.server.com /media/ftp.some.server.com/ -o user=user:pass,allow_other,ftp_port=-
I had some trouble to get it to work because it turns out I have to use active mode (I expanded the wiki), but now it works great, and I can cp, mv, rm and edit files as if they were on my local machine.
Except in gedit, which refuses to save files to the mounted ftp. At first it segfaulted, just printing 'Segmentation fault' to the terminal, but this crashing stopped after disabling all plugins. But instead of crashing I now get "Could not save the file $FILE. You do not have the permissions necessary to save the file. Please check that you typed the location correctly and try again."
Same thing when starting gedit as root, odd. So I checked what the permissions were:
    ls -l /media/ftp.some.server.com/file.asp
    ---------- 1 root root 811 17 jan 21:48 /media/ftp.some.server.com/file.asp
I guess this is because the FTP server runs some flavor of windows and doesn't have unix file permissions. After googling unsuccesfully I wanted to start a topic in the networking subforum, but first I tried to change the file using nano, to be sure it wasn't a gedit issue. To my suprise nano can indeed save the file, so I'm putting this in applications and desktop environments.
I think nano is checking the permissions before trying to save the file, while gedit doesn't. Does any of you got an idea to stop it doing this, or to fix the permissions?

With some help from the nice guys in #gedit, I managed to narrow the problem down to gio, a component of glib used by gedit to save files.
I did file a bug on the gnome bugzilla: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=668147.

  • I can't save downloads to documents folder, only to desktop...

Only desktop saves are allowed.  The message states, "Word cannot save or create this file.  This disk may be full or write protected..." The disk isn't full, so I'm not sure what to do.  I'm having to save everything to the desktop and then move files into document folders in Finder.  Any advice on how to save directly to documents or what may be wrong?   Thanks so much!.

    Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. You can demote it back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:20 ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ 2> /dev/null
Be sure to select the whole line by triple-clicking anywhere in it. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar. A text window opens.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

  • How can I save .mov file as another .mov file after trim from Pre9?

I would have thought this would be simple.  Just like I can crop a still image in Photoshop and save it with a new name (or the same name), I expected to be able to trim or split an .mov file in Premiere Elements 9 and save the resulting file(s) under a new name (or the same name) while preserving the same format.
    But SIX hours later, NO.
Instead, after I split or trim the .mov file, it seems to be held hostage inside a project that won't let it go.  I even tried "exporting" it but the choices are different than the properties of the source file (a BAD thing), and the resulting two files from the export are unreadable on my computer (USELESS).
The .mov file was shot with a Canon EOS Rebel T3i.  Windows with Vista.  Adobe Premiere Elements 9.  I also have Photoshop CS5 Extended and Lightroom 3.4.x, if either of those would help.
I'm sure that I'm mistaken,  There MUST be a secret menu option to SAVE-the-trimmed-CLIP-as-a-SOURCE-file.
How could there not be something this basic?

    Quoting Steve:
"I'll say it once more: It's impossible to cut a piece of video and then resave your file.....[because] IT'S [against] THE NATURE OF EDITING VIDEO WITH EVERY VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE IN THE WORLD."
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ *** ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I'm very pleased to say that I've found out how to do exactly what I wanted to do, despite Steve's strongly stated opinion that it is "impossible."
    I can:
..... trim or split a video
..... and save it under the same name or a different name(s)
..... WITHOUT converting it to something else before or after trimming
..... WITHOUT changing it from its original format
    ..... WITHOUT exporting (compressing) it
..... WITHOUT "rendering" it different in any way except my desired length change (and resulting smaller file size)
This is desireable to me in order to:
..... save many gigs of space on my terabyte drives
..... while retaining source file footage that may be useful in future projects
..... IN ITS ORIGINAL (source) FORMAT !!!!!
    YAY!!!
I got thinking about the software that came with my camera.  I didn't install it because it included things like a program to handle RAW images (and I prefer to use Adobe Lightroom 3) and a program that I thought might be similar to Bridge (and I really like Adobe Bridge).
But I decided to install it and see if there was anything there that would allow me to work with the videos and sure enough, there it was - the ability to trim my videos of the junk while keeping the rest in original perfect format, just as it was shot. From a user's point of view, it is a precise video version of cropping a still image in Photoshop.  EXACTLY what I wanted to do!!!
Here is a collage of the properties box of the "before" version (the original original), collaged together with the  properties box of the "after" version (the trimmed original).  The properties boxes are the properties as reported by Adobe Premiere Elements 9.
In the above-shown collage of the screenshots that I've made for you, you can see that nothing has changed in terms of the properties.  The only changes are the length (because I cut it), the file size (because it is MUCH smaller now), and the name (because I wanted to preserve the original file in order to make a screenshot of its properties for you). I WANT TO REPEAT - the new CUT file is identical to the original, except the unwanted portion has been cropped away. It was NOT compressed, it was NOT rendered, it was NOT exported.  It is a true source file utilizing original footage in its original format.
(This forum limits images to 450 pix wide so to see that all the relevant format properties are the same in both properties boxes, you may have to increase the size through your browser by holding down the [Ctrl] and hitting the "=" key (the one with the "+" above the "=" sign).)
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ *** ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Here are the steps I took to make the screenshot above:
1 - Opened the original file in Canon ZoomBrowser EX 6.7 (which came with the camera).
2 - Trimmed ("cut") the file by placing a start point and stop point around the desirable footage.
3 - Saved under a different file name.  (NOTE:  This was a true save, NOT an export, NOT a "render" of some sort.)
4 - Switched to Adobe Premiere Elements 9 and started a new "project."
5 - Used "Get Media" to pull the original version and the cut version of the video into the project.  NOTE:  I pulled the cut version in first, so if there had been a format mismatch (as compared with the DSLR-1080p30 @29.97 setting I normally use when creating a new project), Premiere would have said so.  But there was NOT a format mismatch.  And it runs perfectly, just as it did before, including audio.
6 - Right clicked each video and took a screenshot of the properties of each to show you.
And this means I can use the trimmed footage for any purpose down the road, yet I didn't have to save the entire file which included unwanted footage.  And I've saved a considerable amount of space on one of my terabyte drives.
    SUMMARY:
    Easy as pie:
I trimmed the excess off a video WITHOUT "converting," "exporting," "compressing," "rendering" or changing the format away from the original in any way.
No loss of any type of data whether audio or visual or "other."  (Except, of course, the unwanted footage.)

  • Can't save to OS X Server from Microsoft Word since upgrading to Yosemite

When I am working on a Word Document and I click "save" the box pops up and every folder on my local computer is available as a location save my file, but my server is not.  it simply does not show up.  I can save to my local drive and then drag it over to my server through finder, but I cannot actually save the file directly from word to the server.  This has only happened since upgrading to Yosemite and server 4.0

Word isn't able to save on a SMB volume, the problem is not limited to Yosemite, also on Mavericks. There is an easy solution (on Mavericks, which I tested, and hope that will do so under Yosemite, tomorrow I will test). Unmount the volumes that You want to work with, from the finder select Connect (Shift-CMD-K) and give the address of the volume with the prefix afp instead of SMB (afp://192.168.1.1 or similar). That will do it!

  • Can you save editable pdf as read only

I have a client who's using an editable pdf that I set up in the full version of Acrobat 8.0. They would like to edit the doc in Acrobat Reader and then do a save as and make the doc "read Only" so that their viewers can't edit the document after they have made their changes. Is this possible or am I the only one who can make it readable or not readable with the full version of Acrobat?

You can do it. They can't.
If this is something they are going to do a lot of, recommend that they purchase at least Acrobat Standard if not Pro.

    Hello,

    i can save that audio.

I can monitor the server to verify that data is being sent, and an

  • Can't access VPN server, only other clients

I am having trouble with my L2TP VPN. I can connect to the VPN server just fine and connect to any other IP address on the network over the VPN connection except the server I am connecting to. The server's address is 192.168.1.1 with a mask of 255.255.255.0. The bottom half of the subnet is reserved for local devices with the upper half dynamically assigned to VPN clients. How can I get my VPN clients talking to the server itself (I want to use Screen Sharing with the server over the VPN)?

The DNS server address was wrong (not 127.0.0.1 but 192.168.10.1) on the en1 interface. I changed that, but it didn't do anything immediately. I flushed DNS caches, double checked changip (which was okay), the name of the server... Then I restarted. And :
    "ppp0: flags=8051<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1280
    inet 192.168.10.101 --> 192.168.10.1 netmask 0xffffff00 "
(ifconfig from the client). Notice the change of the gateway. Before, it was the public IP, now it's the internal IP. Quite interesting, since I can now ping the server using this address and accessing its services through the VPN. I was very happy, the only thing that didn't work was the DNS. But I don't know whether it's good or not, and it seems to "change" : I tried to reconnect few minutes later and have been given again the public IP from the server as the gateway IP. Strange. I can't get it working again. I restarted again, flushed caches another time... I managed to get this config three times before the server returned to its previous settings.
Setting the gateway address of the client to 192.168.10.1 is maybe the key (I tried to force the change in the client network settings with no success). I'm going to read the logs and try to spot the differences between the two connections. I will then have to allow the server to answer to incoming DNS request, but, as you said, it's not so insecure...
