Can't save MP3s with Quicktime Pro

All of a sudden, whenever I stream a QT file, I don't see the drop-down arrow on the right like I used to so I can save the file. This used to work fine. I still have an active registered QT Pro account. What happened?

Just figured it out: It's a bug in Safari 4 beta. It works in Firefox.

  • Can't save videos with Quicktime Pro

Hi, I was trying to watch the new iPhone 3.0 OS presentation, but it couldn't stream properly. So I wanted to download it so I could watch it later without buffering etc. But when I save it 'as a qt movie' or 'a qt source' it saves as a maximally 3kb .mov file. And when I play it, it streams again. So I don't understand how it isn't downloaded fully.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you very much!

True "streaming media" files in QuickTime format can't be saved to a local machine. All you can save is a "link" (your 3KB file) to the source.
Many of those Apple presentation files (Keynotes, for an example) are available for download at the iTunes Store.

  • Can't save changes in Quicktime pro on Windows 8.1

I can't save any changes i make in quicktime pro 7.7.5. I am trying to trim a video clip.
I am using QP just as i would on my mac version, modifying start and end points.
When i click save, literally nothing happens .not even an eror message, nothing.

OK. That rules out a "reference movie".
You make a "selection" (in and out points) in the timeline and then you're using the "Cut" or "Trim to Selection" from the Edit menu?
And then "Save As" or "Save"? Do you get the next window where you can edit the file name and change the destination directory?

can I make an mp3 using Quicktime Pro?

QuickTime can play .mp3 files and can edit audio formats but it can't export to .mp3.
    Use iTunes for that.

  • How do I Capture Streaming video with Quicktime Pro?

In Lamonts post about converting video for the iPod, it was pointed out that one can capture streaming video (Steve Jobs Keynote speech for instance), with Quicktime Pro. I have QT7.04 Pro, but don't know how to do this simple thing. Can someone please tell me?
    Smartmart

it's possible. i did it myself, after a few tryouts.
i still can't get the best result, but i got something.
first of all you have to save the streaming file(thru the save as qt movie, from CTRL-click). when you get a stream it gets cached on your computer. you might playback it even when offline. so if all that you need is a simple playback, that's ok. but it's a cache, sometime the system will erase it from your HD.
if you want to keep it as a qt file(or any other format) thats this is the deal. when you save the stream file, it saves a reference file(4kb) that reads the cache. you cannot recover them from the cache, not even by changing the termination, because the qt player won't recognize the .qtch files transformed into .mov.
open the file(reference you saved before), choose export from the file menu, and choose the setting that you want. i still don't get a good quality(i know it's incredible that a stream file has a better quality...) and i still have to export the video separated from the audio. but if you need only the moving image to edit a homevideo, and your only source is a stream, it's a start.
so if anyone feel like growing the knowledge tree, let's go ahead.

  • None of my video's in iPhoto will play with Quicktime Pro

Good evening everyone, I installed Snow Leopard today, and I had Quicktime Pro, after the install it was in my Applications, Utilities folders, and I can open it, and my registration key for pro is there, but when I click on a video in iPhoto it opens with Quicktime X. How do I open them with Pro? Thanks so much!

I found the solution in case anyone is having the same problem. If you open Quicktime Pro in Snow Leopard, choose file, then open file, and then you can open any video with the pro features that way. Hope this helps some one!

  • Capturing with QuickTime Pro?

I have much problems with capturing in FCE: missing frames, out of sync audio, one cassette ok - the second with problems.
Now I capture with QuickTime Pro and import in FCE.
    Is this procedure ok?

Excuse me, I forgot: several miniDV cassettes from two different cameras. The camera I use for capturing is yet another (Medion MD 9090) camera.
With iMovie there is no problem to capture but I have learned this is not the right way.
With QuickTime Pro there is also no problem, so I use it now.
Can there any problems using QTP for capturing instead of using FCE?

  • I am buying a new macbookpro which comes with Lion.  Lion has Quicktime X.  Logic Studio comes with Quicktime Pro 7.  Do I have to download Quicktime 7, or will Logic Studio work fine with the Quicktime X player?  Will there be a Quicktime Pro X soon?

your new lion-machine should have quicktime 7, too. if it doesn't, and if it doesn't show up after you migrated your stuff from you old machine you can always reinstall it from the logic dvd's, it's part of logic. my recommendation is to always use quicktime 7, since it's got many features that are absent in quicktime x. quicktime x is nothing but a polished video player. in quicktime 7 (pro, comes with logic) you can even do edits and paste your music onto video files. i use it all the time, especially since logic 64bit doesn't export to video anymore.

    Hi Tim ..
    Reinstall Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard
Then restart your Mac. Try Safari.
If it crashes again, uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Quit then relaunch Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info.
If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

  • HT4753 Can auto save work with Photoshop 5.0?

Can auto save work with Photoshop 5.0?
    [email protected]

No. Autosave/Versions must be built into the app itself to use those OS features. It doesn't work just because it's part of the OS. None of the CS6 apps support it, either. The only Adobe apps that do are the latest versions of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements. And that's only because the have to in order to be allowed in the App Store. In both cases, Adobe also gives users a preference to turn it off.
What Adobe did do in Photoshop CS6 is add an autosave feature of their own. It saves your work according to whatever time increment you choose. Then if the app crashes, it will try to reopen the saved data when you relaunch the app.

  • Help! I cannot play VCD with QuickTime Pro.

I tried to open a .DAT file with QuickTime Pro which alerted me with the following message:
QuickTime cannot open the file AVESQ04.DAT it is not a file that Qucik Time understands (-2048).
However, I read the Help in apple.com, they said it should work. What did I do wrongly???

I have found that if you copy the DAT files to your hard drive, and then change the "DAT" to "MPG" in the file name that Quicktime will play them.
It's been a while, so if I am wrong and "MPG" doesn't work, try "MOV" instead.
I'm pretty sure it was MPG though.
I remember I did this a long time ago, and it worked great.

  • Can someone explain how to split an mp3 in Quicktime Pro

I have a 1 1/2 hour mp3 file. I want to split it in two.
I can't seem to figure out how to do this in Quicktime Pro.
Could someone give step by step instructions?
    Thanks!

You have to Save As and give it a new name. The new file cannot have the whole file if you only pasted part of the original file unless you have trolls in your house.
Start over. Open the master file.
Select the in (assume it is there already) and move the playhead to the out (the split point). Press the O key to set the out. Now do this
    CMD+X
CMD+N - touch the new player window that opens.
    CMD+P
That cuts out the old from your original, opens a new player and pastes the cut part to the new player. It can ONLY have the cut part. Then SAVE AS a new fle name.
Return to the old player with the other 1/2 still there.
    CMD+C
CMD+N - touch the new player that opens
    CMD+P
Do SAVE AS and give it a new name. This pastes the 1/2 left over from the cut you did first to a new file.
If you want you can revert (or just not save ) the original and you still have it. You will have two new files with new file names - the first with the 1/2 you cut and pasted and the 2nd with the 1/2 left over.

  • Error when trying to save still image from video with Quicktime Pro

I just purchased Quicktime Pro so that I can use it with my new Nano (the one that shoots video). I want to grab a frame from the video and create a still image (in jpeg format). I should be able to do it, but when I try, I get an error 11005 (or something like that). Anyone know any way to fix this? Thanks!

I also tried the alt/ctrl/shift buttons when clicking Editor in the Photoshop welcome screen. It did ask if I wanted to reset the preferences. I chose yes. I still get the same error message when trying to save for web.
Below....showing I don't have a "save for web" folder on my C drive.
And below, showing the same error after pressing alt/shift/ctrl when clicking on editor and clearing the preferences.
I don't have a 'Save for Web' folder anywhere on my C: drive. I searched and came up with no folder with the text "save for web" in it.
I did find a "save for web" folder on my D: drive and deleted that.. but now when I start up Photoshop, the option for Save for Web is grayed out...not able to select it.
