Can't save non http bookmarks in firefox
Can't save non http bookmarks in firefox
Amongst standard website favourites saved on my IE toolbar i have several html documents/pages of my own making. These obviously begin with a non-http address.
Examples are pages that contain an array of favourite webcams on a single page, or a page that opens up several related sports sites each in their own tab, or a stormchasing swathe of tabbed windows covering live video chase, weather radar, emergency service scanners etc. etc.
An address would take the format on the lines of
"C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\Football Results and Tables\UK.html"
Firefox insists on adding 'http' before the C:\ (plus unlike IE it also adds the %20 for spaces.)
Can anyone help to to get FF to accept a favourite that is not a website.
I just verified that it still works for me in Firefox 18.0, using the "star" in the Location Bar.

How can I save ONLY the bookmarks and extensions
I am about to do a clean reinstall of Firefox. I want to save ONLY the Bookmarks and Extensions and NOTHING ELSE from the Firefox Profile. How can I do this please?
Thank you,Both answers combined to help solve the problem. It would be good if more than one answer can be selected as "Chosen Solutions", because this situation occurs often in forums.
Thank you to both of you!

Can't save PDFs from Safari or Firefox after latest (10.1.3) update
I just installed the latest update, and now when I open a PDF in Safari, I can't save it to my computer. I get a message saying "The document XXX.pdf could not be exported as XXX." When I try to do it from Firefox, the PDF won't even open. I tried deleting the plugins and reinstalling Reader and that didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hi mccradks1,
Regarding firefox, update it to version 10.0 or later and use it in 32-bit mode only.
To save pdf's in safari, please try using the save button in toolbar and see if it works.
Toolbar is present in two different forms:
1.
2. This toolbar appears when you hover the mouse at bottom of pdf screen.
Thanks,

Why can I not add more bookmarks anymore - Firefox v25.0.1
I have many bookmarks but suddenly I can't add any more to favourites.
Nothing happens at all when I click "bookmark this page" in the "bookmarks" drop down box
Running Firefox v25.0.1
Any ideas on a cure please ?Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Firefox would not open because of a "nssutil3.dll " problem. I've researched the problem, and I am using Norton 360 which is not a known antivirus program that deletes the file as a trojan. I want to uninstall and reinstall firefox, but first I want to make sure my book marks are safe.

How can I save tabs with two open Firefox windows?
I have two windows of Firefox open; one for tabs of websites I visit regularly and another with tabs for chat rooms. It is a pain having to open these chats on a regular basis which is why I'm wondering if there's a solution to this. Is it possible to save tabs for both windows when closing Firefox?
Use "Firefox > Exit" or "File > Exit" to close all open windows at once. That is always better then using the close X and is the only way to restore more than one window on a next start via session restore.

I'm also having trouble importing my favourites from IE. I've gone through the steps to Import Data for Another Browser and it looks like it has worked but when I go to view my bookmarks it is still empty.
Hi,
Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-bookmarks?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Bookmarks this.] You can look at the star in the location (address) bar. If it's colored, it usually means the page has been successfully bookmarked.
For importing from Internet Explorer please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Importing%20favorites%20and%20other%20data%20from%20Internet%20Explorer this.] You can also try the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File HTML] method. -

I am getting a new CPU and will download FireFox when I get it. I would like to be able to save and or print my list of favorite bookmarks so I can re-create them on the new computer/FireFox. Is there someway I can just transfer the old bookmarks list to an new computer and a new download of the browser.
Hello Hellen.
If you're just getting a new CPU, you shouldn't need to worry about backing up your information, since you don't need to format your hard drive to change the CPU.
However, and I don't mean to insult you in any way, so please forgive me for my assumption, if you're referring to the computer (the tower itself, with the drives, boards and all that) as a "CPU", hopefully this support article is what you need:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information
The main thing to remember is that you don't need to just back up your bookmarks. You can port your ''whole'' Firefox experience (that includes passwords, history, cache, settings, add-ons, bookmarks, home pages, absolutely everything) from computer to computer by just copying your profile folder around. It's a brilliant thing that many people don't know, and often people will start all over again, which is totally unnecessary and definitely a big shame. I hope this helps. -

I recently start using Firefox panorama. If I create a tab group that contains, for example, my favorite stack exchange websites, can I save ("bookmark") this tab group for easy access if I start a new session? You can bookmark all those tabs and place them in a folder.
* "Bookmark This Page" and "Bookmark All Tabs" no longer show in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
* "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.
