Can't save passwords,no prompt,no key on location bar, checked settings in tools.

not getting a prompt to save passwords. if it is hidden I don't know how to retrieve since there's no ''key'' next to location bar. Checked all the settings in tools as suggested in support.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • How can I save passwords for URL's

How can I save passwords for URL's? I just installed 10.6.7 Snow Leopard. I also had to format my HD drive and reinstall my software.

    Hi,
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Select the box next to:
    User names and passwords.
Navigate to a site you normally log into with the user name and password. Click Yes when prompted. That will save that information to a new keychain for you.
Passwords are actually stored in your Keychain Access application. (Applications/Utilities)

  • Can't save Passwords on 6

I can't save passwords on Firefox 6. Yes, it's allowed in my settings, it's set to save them all. There are no sites in the exceptions list. Firefox doesn't give me a prompt to save on websites, and I know it's not the website because I was just able to save the passwords using another browser. How can I get Firefox to start asking me again?

Due to that same issue several FF versions ago, I installed the LastPass addon. If you use other browers there is a LastPass program for them also. LastPass also generates passwords for new websites and much more.
For FF LastPass can be found in addons. For other browsers go to Download.com by Cnet.

  • How can I save passwords in the iPad?

    Hi,
How can I save passwords on my iPad 3? I've never figured this out.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

If you are referring to passwords other than your AppleId and Mail account, you can check the App store. there are at least a couple of keychain apps available.

  • I missed the "save password?" prompt the first time I logged in to a site. How do I get it to ask again, or to save the password for that site now??

The first time I logged in to a site which has now become a frequently used one, I skipped past the prompt where it asks if you want it to save the password so as not to have to type it in each time. I would like to use that option but don't know how to get it to prompt me again so that I can answer "yes" this time.

  • Firefox 3.6.3 does not save any history, does not save passwords. I have read the forum and checked my settings (ok), started in Safe mode (still does not work).

Firefox 3.6.3 does not save history, nor passwords. I have read the forum and checked my settings in Privacy (all ok), I restarted Firefox in Safe mode (it still does not remember history or passwords). Running on XP. I think these problems started when I upgraded to 3.6.3.

I had the same problem after an upgrade to 3.6.3.
I was using password manager for a number of web sites before. Not using cookies but password manager.
After 3.6.3 auto upgrade it did not work.
I could not enter private browsing mode.
When I looked in tools>options>security at my saved passwords the list was blank. The button in the saved passwords dialog that normally says "Show saved passwords" was actually blank (the button was there but there was no text on it).
I did have my old bookmarks and was able to create new ones but oddly the bookmark all tabs menu function wouldn't work.
I decided to reinstall firefox 3.6.3. There is no way something with that many bugs got out!
I was able to get the full firefox executable from http://mozilla.com
I closed all firefox windows and ran the installation.
After re-running the install and starting firefox everything was fine. It must have been a bad download or the original install got messed up somehow.
I hope you have the same good fortune I had!

  • Won't Stay Logged In - Can't Save Password

I'm using Chrome. I can't stay logged in since the new bt log in changes.
On my home pc I normally just have one bookmarked link that takes me straight to my inbox.
With the new changes, I keep having to re-log in, sometimes even minutes after last logging in. There's also no option for Chrome to remember my password and no option on the website to remember my log in details.

  • Can't save passwords - Do I need to reinstall Safari or 10.7.5?

I've gone through the process of checking Auto Fill and checked "User names and passwords".
I don't see the window... Do you want to save this password.
    Safari 6.0.3
    OSX 10.7.5

    This did not work.
The words “Passwords Never Saved” did not show up on my list of saved Websites, User Name or Passwords.
Could I have trashed or disabled the Keychain program?

  • How can I save a bookmark in more than one location?

In previous versions, I could save a bookmark in one folder, and again in another. This option seems to have disappeared with 29.0. The reference articles don't outline how to do this.
Does anyone have a trick up their sleeve that will let us do this?
I know that I should perhaps be using tags, but I have thousands of bookmarks filed and can't start a new procedure now with a major project launch coming up.
    Thanks!
    Allan

hello allen, in the bookmark library you can copy and paste bookmarks into multiple locations. however as you have said, tags are probably a far more efficient way to organize your bookmarks...

  • Can I save my TB E-Mails at a location of my choice?

I want to save my TB E-mails on a separate "Data" partition rather than the default location in C: Drive. I would like to know the following:
Where do the TB E-mails reside now?
Can I move the E-Mails to a drive/folder of my choice?
Is there a way that I can set up so that all E-mails will be saved there automatically in the future

Thanks Matt. At first reading this seems to be above my head and quite complicated. I am reluctant to risk losing my mail etc. In any case I'll study it some and see if I can get up the courage to delve into it.
I had vision of it being something as easy and similar to what I used in Outlook Express in WinXP.
    Thanks again

  • Can't save for web in CS5--and yes, I've checked the forums!

    Hi all,
I just ordered CS5 through my company (which takes 2 weeks) and installed the trial in the meantime. I am getting an error when I try to save for web:
The operation could not be completed.
A write permissions error has occurred.
Then, when I close the file, I get this error and Phooshop quits:
Could not save Preferences because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to unlock the file or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders.
    I am on OSX10.5.8.
I have already tried the following:
    1. Repairing disk permissions
    2. Restarting
    3. Terminal commands
    sudo chmod -R u+w ~/Library/Preferences
    sudo chmod -R u+rw ~/Library/Application\ Support
    sudo chmod -R u+rw ~/Library/Adobe
Any other ideas I could try? I'm at a loss.
    Thanks everyone!
    Cari

Or at least have the installer utility show a window urging the user to check for updates immediately.
Of course, that requires a much higher level of competence than the Adobe installer and updater teams have been able to muster in recent years, especially after the macromediatization.

  • I just updated to Firefox 8 and I can't get new windows to open in new tabs. The settings under 'Tools/Tabs" are correct. I tried uninstalling/re-installing Firefox, what do I do next?

I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
(I had a similar problem with Internet Explorer, which is why I switched to Firefox last year).

You can check the browser.link.open_newwindow prefs on the about:config page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.link.open_newwindow (3)
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction (0)
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

  • How can i disable the ~3 search "guesses" in the location bar, above the suggestions from my history?

In the new version of Firefox, when I start typing something to the address bar, instead of showing suggestions from my history, it shows ~3 "popular search strings", as in Google search bar (for example if i type 'a', it shows aol, aol mail and amazon). I find this feature very irritating, is there a way I can disable the seach guesses, so I can browse in my history pages like before?
    Thanks!

hello mreti88, this isn't a feature that is built into firefox - likely one of your installed addons is causing this: [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]

  • How can I find Bitlocker External Key File location?

My Windows 8.1 PC includes a system drive and data drives. All the drivers were encrypted using Bitlocker with the data drives set for autounlock.
I recently decrypted the system drive (without decrypting the data drives) and reinstalled the OS, after which my data drives required the Bitlocker recovery key to unlock.
However, I had "backed up" the recovery keys to my Microsoft account but now I can find only the recovery keys for the system drive. The recovery keys for the data drives cannot be found on my Microsoft account.
I have tried to use the "manage-bde" command at the console to obtain the recovery password but I am only getting the Numerical Password ID and the External Key File Name. Can anyone provide advice on how I can retrieve the passwords or the
    External Key File location?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ridgewood,
As my point of viewer, the BitLocker Automatic unlock volume is also protected by BitLocker Disk Encryption. The user encrypted information is stored in the registry and volume metadata. After a user unlocks the operating system volume, BitLocker uses the
encrypted information to unlock the data volume automatically.
After the reinstallation of the system, the encrypted information is lost and BitLocker can’t unlock the data volume automatically.
Every volume has own recovery key.
As mentioned in your post, the data drive require the recovery key to unlock.
I suggest you to double-check the OneDrive and try to find out where did you store the recovery key.
If you can’t find the recovery key, we can’t help you to decrypt the data volume.
