Can't save project as disc image...

Hello
I am trying to save a project and am getting an error when I try to save it as a disc image. It says that there is an error that needs to be fixed before burning.
First off, I must say that I created my own menu screen (thanks to Karsten Schuler's help), so the menu is not standard. I ran thru the DVD preview and everything seemed to link fine. When looking in the components part of the menu, there doesn't seem to be anything extra or out of place, although the menu is where the error shows (red x).
There is no other evident problem with the project - it is within the time limit for a single layer disc (although in the yellow at 111 minutes) and all of the media at the bottom is checked off as OK.
What should I be looking for to fix this problem?
Thanks!

jen,
I just did a Knowledge Base search and found this:
iDVD 7.0 Help (iLife '08) - General specifications and requirements for iDVD at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6689.html
It says, in part: A project can have a maximum of 99 menus, and each menu can have up to 12 buttons (linking to submenus, slideshows, or movies). The number of buttons allowed on a menu depends on the theme you are using.
... thanks Fred for adding your expertisé...

  • Save project as Disc Image?

Can I save a finished iMovie project as a disc image on an external hard drive if I don't plan to re-edit it again?
    Kindly, Beth

Yes, you can. Open an iDVD project. Drag your iMovie project icon (the one with the star on it) into the edge of the iDVD menu window. Save the iDVD project as a disk image (File/Save as Disk Image). You can store the disk image on an external drive. It's a stand alone.

  • Can't save because of disc error

I am using iMac G5 OS 10.3 PhotoShopCS Nikon D70 camera.
When I download to iPhoto ( I have it set to open Photoshop) and open the image in PhotoShop I can not save my changes. It says "can't save because of disc error." I checked out the camera, memory cards, formatting, etc. and all is OK. I am assuming this is a Mac problem. Any ideas?

when I download photos from a card I use a card reader and image capture. I download to a new folder on the desktop, and then drag the folder to one of many aux hard drives. If I am going to work on the photos now I just leave the folder on the desk top until I finish with it. I look at iphoto as an unnecessary step and avoid using it. I keep all photos in aux hard drives to avoid using hard drive space.

  • "broken assets" error message when saving project as disc image

I've seen this question asked before but I've been unable to find a solution that works. I am using iDvd6. After creating my project in iMovie, I shared it with iDvd. I then added a slide show and some music. Before burning to disc I "save as disc image". However when I click "file" and "save as disc image", the error says that I have a "broken asset" in my project and need to fix it before continuing.
The DVD map shows no errors. I even deleted the iDVD project completely and started it again by going back to iMovie and sharing to iDvd, but I still get the same error. I even deleted the file "com.apple.idvd.." (I forget exactly) as someone recommended and restarted iDvd, and still no luck. The irony is that I have already done 8 different projects successfully (iMovie to iDvd to image burn to disc burn), but this one has me stumped as I can't find any errors to repair. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi b
    1. I don't ever use "Share/Export to iDVD" from within iMovie. It renders and
    destroys.
I drop my movie icon (with a Star on it) into the open iDVD theme window)
iDVD do the redering and so much better.
    2. Deleting the pref file is always a good start:
    iDVD
    -->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iDVD.plist
    3. Free space on internal hard disk should read about 20 - 25Gb free.
    4. I would start a new account / log into this / re-do the iDVD project but
this time by dropping in the movie icon.

  • How can I save files from disc recovery mode?

My Imac wont boot - disc recovery wants me to save files before reloading OSX - how can I save them?. I have a new external hard drive to plug in.
I have tried safe start and resetting PRAM, neither work . I am in disc recovery mode and disc repair cannot fix my hard drive and is telling me to back up my files. How can I do this from this situation?

If you have another mac available start your imac in Target Disk Mode and backup your files that way. OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode

  • Adobe After Effects CC can't save project on OSX Mavericks

Can not save my projects I have created in Adobe After Effects CC since I have upgraded to Mavericks. Anyone else having this issue?

What you are describing is almost certainly a problem with permissions set for the folder that you're trying to save to.
We've seen the same problem with the preferences folder, so I've been giving this advice a lot:
Set the permissions for the entire /Users/username/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/12.0/  folder to be writable.
If that doesn't work, then uninstall After Effects (being certain to choose the option to remove all preferences) and then reinstall it.
This messup of permissions happens when Mac OS doesn't correctly preserve permissions of various folders when you upgrade an operating system, rather than installing the new operating system fresh.

After updating the latest iOS 6, I now can't save images on my iPhone from Internet. What should I do?

It's probably your google settings because I had this problem too! Go to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Photos" > Make sure that next to Google it is "On". Hope this helps!

  • Suddenly can't save project, getting error message. VERY FRUSTRATING!!

I've been working on a project for a client over the last couple of weeks and is nearing completion. Everything was working great, when suddenly I tried saving and I got the error message:
"An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate."
Please help, this is very aggravating!
If I have to restart or can't get this problem fixed soon, I won't make the deadline for my client.
I am willing to send the project file to anyone who feels they can help.

Your project is broken on Edge Animate CC (2.0.1).  You can try clearing your preferences to see if that clears it up for you:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/edge-animate/kb/restore-preferences-edge-animate.html
I'm still working with a developer to see if something weird happened with your project.

  • Can't render,  can't save project - under deadline!

I am working a project that has been going swimmingly for days. Suddenly it's all gone downhill on the day it is supposed to be submitted.
Here are the pieces of the puzzle that I have found so far:
    1) I cannot save the project. The message I get says "File error: a file of this name already exists
    2) When I try to circumvent that by renaming the project and using "Save project as" I get "General error" with no number to identify it
    3) The autosave gets an "access denied" error
    4) Nothing will render. Everything is checked in the pull-down menu, preferences trashed, etc. I ran through every fix I could find in these discussions, as they have saved me many times before, but nothing will get it to render. The progress bar flashes up for a split second then disappears.
Any help would be much appreciated! This thing is due in two hours!
    Thanks,
    JT

This might not work but it's worth a shot. Keep your project open and start a new project. Copy everything in your browser from the current project to the new project and then see if you can save the new project with a different name. This has worked for me in the past on projects that just seem to get corrupted somehow.
Have you recently changed permissions for anything? May want to do a 'Get Info" in Finder on your project file, render location, etc. to make sure you have proper permissions to those locations.

  • Can't save project, get "operation not allowed" warning

Has anyone else ever experienced not being able to save a project? I'm in a bit of a tricky situation as I can't save my project. When I do, I get a "operation not allowed" warning (see screenshot).
Have tried everything (different project name, different location, etc.) and also checked whether there are any permission / write access issues with my hard disks, but I can copy around files on the disk without any problem.
If anyone has a solution for this would be greatly appreciated, as I'd hate to lose my progress on the project by having to quit without saving
    Thanks!

Not a perfect solution, but definitely helpful and smart Thanks Michael!

  • How can I save an idvd disk image to secondary hard drive?

I'm trying to tshoot a burning issue with my 1st imovie/idvd project (some old home movies). I've found the hints to try the 'save disk image' option, but when I choose that option I get a 'multiplexer preparation error; not enough free space'. I know my primary drive doesn't have enough room but my secondary one does. Problem is idvd seems to default to the primary and I haven't found an option to choose to save to the secondary. Probably something simple, but I'm not finding it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

You need to move enough 'things' from your start-up hard drive to your external hard drive to free up 10 to 20 GB if you want iDVD to work. Your start-up drive is where everything happens and you can't change that.

The easiest way is probably to use commandshift4, otherwise the app you are using to make the text may be able to save as an image.

  • Can't save projects in iMovie

    I keep getting this message:

Please check the disk to ensure there is enough free space and you have permission to write projects. iMovie will try to save periodically, but your changes will be lost if you quit iMovie before the problem is resolved.
I have already "repaired permissions" in the Utility Disk and it's still not allowing me to save my project.

  • Can't Save Projects

I have installed the trail version of Premier Pro, and it won't allow me to save the project to my hard drive.  Is this because it it the trial version?  If not, how can I do it?

Going back to the earlier part of this thread, I'd like for you to do a test.
Open a New Project. Add something - anything, and then do a Save_As. Only change the file name, and not the extension.
What is the full name of that Project file, including its extension?
When you reopen that test Save_As Project, does it Open fine? Do one more Save_As and maybe just add a "1" to the end of the filename, not the extension. Does this file Open fine?
I'm wondering if Harm's earlier advice of a Repair Install might not be in order, but please run these simple tests first and report.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
