Can't scale pages to print in 10.6.8

I just bought a second-hand Macbook Pro to handle e-mails and browsing at a holiday place, replacing an older notebook running 10.4.
Each day for years I have printed a puzzle from the NY Times and scale it to a preferred size by the sequence <<command-print / page set-up / scale / enter>> then print>> in the Print panel.  10.6.8 does not  scale the page; it prints at 100%.
I have seen the discussion recommending "tab out of the Scale box" and tried it but entering <<tab>> has no effect.
This ain't earth-shattering but it's a simple thing that always worked fine and now doesn't, so it's a worry.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

Forgot to mention in case it matters, the printer is a HP Officejet.  It's listed among the drivers auto-installed with 10.6.8 and HP also offers download, so I assume it's still supported.

  • How can I select pages to print from a Word document using the report generation 'print report' vi?

I have researched the knowledge base and found:
Printing A Range of Pages or Number of Copies of a Report Using the Report Generation Toolkit in LabVIEW.
This seems to be from a previous version of LV. I am using LV2010. The instructions given do not match up with the current vi. The information did provide a tip and drilling down into  the vi I was able to insert the from/to page numbers at the printout invoke method, however this prevents the print function from working in that it can no longer find the default printer.
    The error message is:
    Error 1015 occurred at NI_ReportGenerationToolkit.lvlib:Word_Print.vi -> NI_Word.lvclassrint Report.vi ->
error 1015 is: Printer is not responding. Check printer configuration.
Any ideas how I can make the modification to print, for example, pages 24 through 29 out of a 32 page word document?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Hello, take a look at this article. Unfortunately the Generate Report Get Data to Modify.vi was remove since RGT 1.1.3 release. That being said, we can try to find a workaround. See "Configuring a Printer Through the Windows Dialog in LabVIEW", open the GetPrinterSettings.vi, at the PrinterSettings property node you can select the from/to page. I hope this helps.

  • Can one turn page for printing in Pages OS 6.8?

I am using Pages 09.  The system on my iMac is 10.6.8.  My seldom used small footprint printer can only print 8 1/2' wide.
When selecting print, I find nothing which allows me to turn the page so that I can use an 11" envelope inserted lengthwise.
Has this feature been dropped or am I just not finding it any more?

  • How can i collate pages when printing multiple copies in reader?

i want to print 6 copies of a 12 page document. the new reader app allows multiple copies but does not have a collate button in the options???
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Make sure you install the latest printer driver applied to Windows 8.1.
Would you please let me know the full name of the Reader? Did you mean the PDF reader?
We can also try to install the printer driver for Windows 8 in compatible mode to see what's going on.

  • Can't get pages to print the way I want.

    Hello:
I have created a document in ID CS3.
What I am trying to accomplish should be simple, I've done it before but can't remember how I went about it.
OK, my doc is two fliers on an 8.5 X 11 page.  On my Master Pages all looks like it should, with two fliers on one page.
The page thumbnails bellow are staggered downward, I hope that makes since.
When I make a pdf and try to print I end up with two printed pages with one flier on each page instead of the two fliers on one page I want.
What should I do to correct this problem?
    Thanks

This is a two-page master with one flier per page, and if you look at the document pages you'll see one flier on each. To get two fliers per 8.5 x 11 I'd set up a non-facing landscape page, two columns  and make the gutter twice the outside margin. Do one full layout in the left column, then select all and hold down the Alt key and drag a copy into the right column (or use step and repeat if you're more comfortable with that).
Unless you are making a multipage document with customizations on each page, there's no purpose whatever to doing the layout for this on the master page. You can print as many copies of a one page doc as you need. If it's two-sided, you can but the back and front next to each other, print one side of the sheet, pick up the stack and turn it over, then print the same file again on the other side (which I guarantee is how your printer would do it on a press).

  • How can i use Pages to print 4 pictures on one sheet?

I would like to print 4  4x6 pictures on one sheet of photo paper.

    Hi Don,
Difficult to give advice without knowing what problems you are running into.
What actions have you taken? What happened when you did that? How were the results not what you expected?

  • Problem centering page when printing: Lion and CS 5

Just installed Apple's Lion. Am running Illustrator CS 5.
Went to print a file, chose the center on page option from the new icon in Adobe's Print dialog box. The page does not print centered on the paper. It prints way off!
I can get the page to print to fit the page, borderlessly, which is what I would like to do now; but, I have to select the option to fit in the upper left corner. I am now anticipating problems in the future when I simply want to print a page centered.
This could be an Adobe, Apple, or Epson problem (I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400); or a combination.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does it happen on other apps? Is there a place to report bugs to Adobe?

Good call! After your post, I did run Software Update, but the only thing there was an iTunes update. I do recall seeing an Epson printer update in the last day or two; but, I don't recall which of my computers called for it. In any case, on this computer, after checking Software Update and finding nothing, there is still an issue printing centered pages from Illustrator CS 5 15.0.2.

I am trying to delete pages I have crated in numbers, but can only see them in print preview. Without print preview I do not see them. How can I delete these pages, but keep others before and after?

    Hi Crushed,
Numbers doesn't have pages. It has a canvas that holds objects such as tables and charts.
Drag the objects from the bottom of the canvas onto the white space above. That will reduce the number of "pages" (sheets of paper) that will print.

  • I have a Mac Air.. with 10.10 and just purchased a HP laserjet pro M201dw  .. I can't get it to print duplex in pages or word.  In pages not highlighted. does in Adobe for pdf.  Help!

I have a Mac Air with 10.10 .  Just purchased a HP Laserjet Pro M201dw printer.  I can not get the duplex printing to work in Word or Pages.  It does work for PDF files in Acrobat Pro.  It won't for emails.  In Pages I see two- sided but it is dimmed.  I look at setups and it shows two -sided is off but can't find a way to change this setting.  In the printer setting itself, the duplex box is checked.  Need help.  Did notice the driver only goes up to 10.9 but it says on Apple site of supported printers this one is listed.
Appreciate help in solving this issue.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to give me some time and assistance.

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

One suggestion worked from the Firefox prints incorrectly link mentioned above by mha007. I'm thrilled since this has been annoying me for weeks. Thanks mha007!
    Reset all Firefox printer settings
    # Open your profile folder:
    # On the menu bar, click on the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information. The Troubleshooting Information tab will open.
    # Under the Application Basics section, click on Show in Finder. A window with your profile folder will open.
    # Note: If you are unable to open or use Firefox, follow the instructions in Finding your profile without opening Firefox.
    # On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Quit Firefox.
    # In your profile folder, copy the prefs.js file to another folder to make a backup of it.
    # Open the original prefs.js file in a text editor (such as TextEdit).
    # Remove all lines in prefs.js that start with print. and save the file.
    # If something goes wrong when you open Firefox, close it again and overwrite prefs.js with the backup you made.

How do you suppress page numbers. I am trying to print a screenplay for the first time since switching to Pages and I can't suppress Page #1 without making the rest of the pages inaccurate, as page #1 is the Title Page. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • [IN CS4] Proof Colours - that can be used to preview pages in print Greyscale?

    HI!
Although I have the library Greyscale ICC profile can not I use it in the option Preview Colors.
Can be used this options to preview CMYK pages in print Greyscale or other monochrome prints?

No. ID doesn't have a grayscale space. You can force a conversion to grayscale from the print dialog, but you can't get a color conversion to grayscale inside ID. Placed grayscales are color managed as if they are on the black plate of CMYK when Proof Colors is turned on and embedded grayscale profiles are ignored.
You could export a CMYK PDF and then preview the conversion to grayscale in Acrobat via the Simulation Profile in the Output Preview panel.

  • PSE 8 - Can I reposition an image on a page for printing?

I am learning how to print photos using PSE 8 on a Mac running 10.6.4. In PSE 2, when printing I was able to slide a photo around on a page and reposition it for printing. (I could then print the photo on top of the page and then reinsert the paper into the printer and print on the bottom half too.) Is there a way to move a photo around on a page for printing in PSE 8 on a Mac? In PSE 8 Help, under Printing and Sharing Photos > Print Photos > Reposition an Image, it says you can: Choose File > Print and then use "the panning operation" to reposition the image, but I don't know what the "panning operation" is. All I see is an immovable box with the photo inside it. I can move the photo around in the box, but the box does not move with it, so no matter what, the photo (or a part of it) is going to print in the middle of the page it seems. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Try resizing the image before you go into the print dialog.  Then, once you are in the print dialog, uncheck Center Image and you should be able to move it anywhere on the sheet.
