Can't scan in color from HP Officejet 8600 anymore

Previously, when i have used "scan to computer," the scanner would automatically scan in color when i chose "Save as PDF." Somehow, that default setting has been changed, and now if i want to scan a color document, i have to choose "everyday scan," which i think produces a much bigger file. Any advice as to how to get back to my previous default color settings with "Save as PDF?" I mainly use a Mac with OS X 10.10. Thanks!

Scan the document as you normally would.
Click Save and look for a format or option to allow you to save as a JPEG file. (The normal format is probably set to PDF)
Seve to your desktop location or to a scanned items folder if you normally scan to that desitnation
Drag the JPEG file onto the iPhoto icon on the dock and release the mouse key
Once you have imported the image into iPhoto, you can delete the file on your desktop or in the scanned items folder if you prefer

Can I scan an image from Photoshop CS4 (or another component?)

I'm new to Photoshop (used to Corel PhotoPaint where I have a command under "File" to "acquire" an image from an external scanner).
Is there a way to do it in Photoshop or do I look for another app in CS4 for that purpose?

I have a CanoScan 8800F, which I can use through Twain (PSE, CS5/32-bit) or WIA (also with CS5/64-bit). The WIA interface offers only very rudimentary functionality (eg no activation of backlight for scanning transparencies). I don’t buy the argument that I should not tie up a $1000 piece of software for $200 (or so) piece of hardware. When I scan, and particularly when I scan old off-color slides, I don’t know beforehand if I can salvage the image with post-processing or if I should adjust the scanner settings. If I scan from Photoshop, I can adjust color and tonality, and I fail to salvage the image, I can re-scan with different settings, while the slide is still in the holder.
Some say that it is silly to a tie up a $1000 piece of software for $200 (or so) piece of hardware. What, then, do you call investing money and learning time for another piece of software if I already own Photoshop and can use it?
The present implementation of the Twain scanning with the 8800F is suboptimal, however. For instance, if I have been scanning slides and the scanner driver is set up for color transparencies, and I then configure the scanner for scanning paper (by removing the slide holder and inserting the back plate which blocks the backlighting), my next attempt to scan aborts with an error message that the scanner is unable to scan slides, probably because the backlighting is blocked. The scanner UI, along with the tab for adjusting scanner settings, is visible in the background, but I can’t access it because of the error message. And when I acknowledge the error message, the scanner UI disappears. I must physically re-configure the scanner to scan slides, then select paper scanning (in the software) and again re-configure the scanner for scanning paper.

Cant scan to and from a OfficeJet Pro 8620

I have had this printer for a while connected by WiFi to an iMac and 2 Window 7 PCs. The iMac is my primaray computer however.
I noticed that the iMac disapeared from the "scan to computer" option on the printer, but you could scan from the iMac using the HP Scan App. I could scat to both PC's. After several attempts of fixing the problem scanning to the iMac i used the HO uninstailer app to remove the OfficeJet (and my HP LaserJet)
I installed the latest version of the HP OfficeJet Software (more than once) and now I can scan from or to on the iMac. When i have tride to select the "scan to computer option" I get the same error message
"The HP software required for Scan to Computer could not be located on this computer. Please download and install the latest HP recommended software for your device from http://www.hp.com/support, and then try again.
Now I have compltely uninstalled and reinstalled the software and I still get the same error message so scanning to and from the iMac using the HP software does not work. The printer is visable in System Preference, and I can "open scanner" and scan that way but it's a pain to do each time.
Anyone got any sugestions?

I see that you cannot scan from your HP Officejet 8625 on Mac OS X 10.10. I am happy to help!
Are you able to make copies with the printer? This way we will no if the issue is hardware related or not.
Otherwise, I would suggest this guide, A 'Computer Not Found' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays for HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630,....
Causes
Scan connection errors can occur for the following reasons:
The HP printer software is not installed, or it did not install correctly.
The network connection failed.
The USB connection failed.
A firewall blocked the scan.
Another person on the network is using the scanner.

How can I parse text color from PSD

Hi all, I am writing a parser of PSD in Java, but I just can't find the color of each character; I thought they were in Additional Layer Information of Layer and Mask Information Section. I have a text layer with a string, and each character has different color.
Please help. thanks.

Modifying the properties of a control in a subVI do not modify the properties of a different control in the main VI. The data is the only thing passed back from the subVI. To modify the properties of the table in the main, you need to pass a reference to it to the subVI and modify it's properties. I've attached a modified llb that does what you want.

Can't print in color from iPhoto

When I try to print a photo from iPhoto, using my color printer, I get a black & white print (not even greyscale). I can print in color from other applications, just not from iPhoto (but I think I used to print in color from iPhoto). Any clues out there?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again. Next, remove the printer from the Print and Fax preference pane and reinstall. Also, depending on your printer brand, check the Apple Downloads page for the new printer drivers offered by Apple. Those might help.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

How can i print in color from a dell printer using a mac

Can anyone tell me how to get a dell 2155cdn printer to print in color from my mac computers?

This does not envolve the Mac, as it does the printer to print in color you must have a color cartiridge to print in color, check and update the dell software so that it supports which operating system your on problay: Mavericks or Moutain lion this can be found in the top right corner under "about this mac"

Can't print in color from new iMac running 10.10

I recently purchased a new iMac to replace my 10 year old machine. Its great. However, I can't print in color to my HP Photosmart 7510 all in one. Its not the printer because I printed a test page from the printer and it was color. I have tried to print from iPhoto and Creative Cloud Photoshop CC. I left a post on the HP forum and also left a question on the HP support site and have gotten nothing. If anyone can help me with this, I will be grateful. Hope I don't also need a new printer. I uploaded the latest driver for the printer. Maybe that is the problem.

When you print are you sure that you have print in color selected? if you do then try re-installing your printer. This video helped me.

I understand that you're experiencing issues when attempting to scan from your HP ENVY 110 e-All-in-One Printer to your computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. However, in order for me to provide you with accurate troubleshooting I do need to clarify a few things.
1) What Operating System are you using on your computer?
2) Are you getting any error messages when you try to scan?
In the meantime, if you're using a Windows computer can I have you click here to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computer and 'fix scanning' issues for you. Should any driver, connection, or software conflicts be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you. Once the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool has completed please test scanning again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist, please include the answers to my questions above so I can better support you. I look forward to hearing from you!

I cannot fax from my Officejet 8600 Plus.

It has faxed until now. However, when I look at all of the Fax items in the 8600 display, they read: "This feature has been disabled. For more information contact the administrator." I have also seen references to the Setup.
FYI. I cannot use the Test Fax feature or any other way of determining the source of the problem or the cure, because whenever I try I get the same message, above.

Precondition: Make sure your PC and printer are powered on and connected to network.
1. Follow these steps to open the printer's EWS:
     Open an Internet browser.     Enter the URL of the printer in the address box, and then press Enter.
2. Enable Fax from EWS
     go to Settings -> Administrator Settings page
     Enable the option "Fax" and Apply.

Officejet 8600 suddenly can't scan multiple items from both ADF and Glass into a single PDF

I used to be able to create a big PDF by scanning (back and forth) from either the document feeder (ADF) or the glass. This was great for expense reports where some pages were "feedable" and others (taped receipts) were not.
Weirdly, this functionality stopped. Once you start using the glass, you can never use the feeder to input more pages to that PDF. What happened? I didn't change anything on my end!

That's a fair point you made in #5 ... that's why they pay me the big bucks then haha
I have a few things I'd like you to try and then report back once you've had the time to try them, please
First, try downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor as it will often make suggestions that can fix your issue. If it doesn't find anything wrong though, or is unable to fix you can move on the the Microsoft FixIt tool. This will also check for any errors it may be able to repair and let you know what it finds, if anything.
If neither of those tools get you any further ahead, please make sure all your Adobe products are up to date. Most people have Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash.
After that please also ensure the printer is Getting Latest Firmware and Product Updates.

How can I scan multiple pages from the ADF to one pdf file?

I wirelessly scan double-sided multiple-page documents, typically 37 pages, using an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) from my HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g to my MacBook Pro. The scanner works fine except it tries to save the files as 37 separate files and either it or the MacBook runs out of memory as it turns it into a massive file, 300mb or so. How can I get it to just scan it as one file? I have the quality setting at 300dpi.

Thanks for the information I requested.
I am going to add a screen shot of what you should be seeing when scanning with the HP software.
You must have PDF selected to be able to scan a multiple page document into one folder.
Once you select PDF, you will see the option to Save as one file.

Can't scan to or from Mac to C4780

I was having problems with fuzzy or no picture when scanning. I used to use a HP Scan option on my Mac. But I upgraded the drivers for OS X 10.9.3. I no longer have the full disk version.
