Our new wireless printer will not scan. I have tried to scan from the computer and get the below error message and then I have activated the scan from printer and when I push the scan button on the printer, I get the same error message.
Thanks!
Product Name: HP Deskjet 3050 J610 Printer/Scanner/Copier
Operating System: Windows 7
Error Message: The HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series was not found - when trying to scan.
No changes made to systemI had some problem. I found you must use HP 'Update IP address' program to add printer instead use window add printer. All programs -> HP ->HP Deskjet 3050 610 series -> Update IP address.

I have been scanning with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 and a Lexmark all in one printer. The printer's printhead became blocked, and cost of fixing was too much, so I bought this HP printer. Installed it, and made it default. It prints and copies fine. When I tried to scan, Acrobat didn't know the HP was there, and looked for the Lexmark. When I plugged it into the Lexmark, it consistently crashed, whatever I tried. The only change is the new printer. Somehow its installation has made it impossible for me to scan at all, on either device. I'm at my wit's end. Please help. Thanks,Bob
Hi Bob,Acrobat Professional 8 only support Twain-Compliant devices, while the HP printer only support Apple's ICA compliant application. As a reference you may find the following article from Adobe:Acrobat has ICA support on MAC 10.7 for now with Acrobat XI onlyhttps://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-scanning-problems-acrobat-8.html You may scan using Image Capture or the HP Scan application, then open / import the scanned file into Adobe. You may find the Scanning specifications listed below, a Twain-compliant software interface only available for Windows:http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Deskjet-1050-All-in-One-Printer-series---J4/4027462/model/4027464/document/c02063036/ You may find any steps to scan with your printer in the following link:http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Deskjet-1050-All-in-One-Printer-series---J4/4027462/model/4027464/document/c03548786/ Regards,Shlomi

Two hours still can't scan with photoshop cs6
two hours still can't scan with photoshop cs6 any ideas?
Hi,
Thanks for responding. Windows Vista - installed Flash Player 11 - no change -
updated all drives on HP PSC 2355 scanner - no change - added twain 24 bit
because read that 48 was not compatible with cs6 - no change.
Basically, when I go file - import - I should see the option WIA -HP PSC 2350
and it is not there which tells me my scanner is not integrated with cs6 as it
was with cs3.
Any ideas?

Can't scan with Epson Stylus DX4450
Hi everybody.
I'm trying to configure my Epson Stylus DX4450. Printing works like a charm, but scanner is not. I tried to configure it as it was suggested on various websites. I've installed sane, xsane, iscan (from http://repo.archlinux.fr/i686) also I've downloaded iscan-plugin-cx4400 from Avasys website, extracted it with rpmextract ant put the library to /usr/lib/iscan.
When I try sane-find-scanner it shows:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [Language Error], product=0x083f [Language Error]) at libusb:002:010
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
# Not checking for parallel port scanners.
# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
# You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you
# found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as
# necessary.
When I try scanimage -L it's idle for about a minute and then it shows:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
But when I try it again it shows:
device `epkowa:libusb:002:010' is a Epson flatbed scanner
Then if I try sane-find-scanner again it will show no language errors:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x083f) at libusb:002:010
xsane will check for available devices for some time, then it shows a message, that no device is available. iscan shows a message "Could not send command to scanner. Check the scanners status". Sometimes iscan will launch, but I can't scan, because it will show me the "Could not send..." error message.
Device usually turns off when I try xsane. Two times xsane launched, but Epson turned off right after it. It also turns off sometimes when I try sane-find-scanner second time or when I try to launch iscan.
I read that there can be a conflict between sane and gphoto, moved /etc/udev/rules/54-gphoto.rules and restarted udev - still didn't work.

# Copyright (C) 2004 Olaf Meeuwissen
# See sane-epkowa(5), sane-scsi(5) and sane-usb(5) for details.
# SCSI scanners can be configured simply by listing the path to the
# device. For example, if your system claims to have a /dev/scanner
# SCSI device, all you have to do is uncomment the following line:
#/dev/scanner
# In the interest of maintainability, most installations would have
# /dev/scanner sym-linked to the real SCSI scanner device node.
# An alternative way that works for many operating systems and is a
# little bit more generic, is to have the backend probe for your SCSI
# scanner with the following configuration command:
#scsi EPSON
# On systems with libusb, the following line is sufficient to get the
# backend to recognise your USB scanners. It presumes, however, that
# the scanner---more precisely, it's USB product ID---is known to the
# backend.
# For all USB scanners that are officially supported by this backend,
# this presumption is true. A list of such scanners can be found in
# sane-epkowa(5).
usb 0x4b8 0x83f
# For any USB scanner not known to the backend (yet), you may, at your
# own peril(!!), force the backend to recognise and use it via libusb.
# You can do so by the following configuration command:
# usb <USB vendor ID> <USB product ID>
# SEIKO EPSON's USB vendor ID is '0x04b8' (without quotes). In order
# to find the USB product ID, use lsusb(1) or, on Linux systems, peek
# at the information in /proc/bus/usb/devices.
# A sample configuration for the Perfection 1650 (GT-8200), which has
# a product ID of 0x0110, would look as follows:
#usb 0x04b8 0x0110
# When not accessing your USB scanner via libusb, you may need to use
# one of the configuration commands below or commands that are almost
# the same. These commands typically access the scanner via a kernel
# scanner module.
usb /dev/usb/scanner0
usb /dev/usbscanner0
usb /dev/uscanner0
# Linux had a scanner module until version 2.6.2. As of version 2.6.3
# libusb is your only option. Linux' scanner module can be loaded via
# the modprobe(8) command like so:
# modprobe scanner vendor=<USB vendor ID> product=<USB product ID>
# If the scanner module already knows the vendor and product IDs, you
# do not have to specify them. If you want to have this done automa-
# tically every time you boot, you can add the above line, except for
# the modprobe command itself, to your /etc/modules file.

Can anyone help with this?Almost solved.
First I've copied files extracted from iscan-plugin-cx4400.rpm from /usr/lib/iscan to /usr/lib/sane. Didn't work.
Then I've checked version of iscan with yaourt and it appeared that aur have newer version than the one from archlinux.fr repo. I've built it, moved epkowa.conf.pacsave to epkowa.conf and it worked once.
sane-find-scanner output was the same, with language errors, but scanimage -L showed that it found my scanner (don't have the exact output - it was different than before). xsane still didn't found the device but I managed to preview and scan to file printer test page with iscan.
When I tried it for the second time, sane-find-scanner output was the same, but scanimage -L didn't recognised the scanner. iscan didn't work. Tried to restart the device - still the same.
Tried to turn off the scanner, restart udev, start scanner again. Didn't work. -

I am a bit lost as to what's wrong.
Last edited by CaptainKirk (2014-12-05 12:23:09)In reality I couldn't print either. Not sure what really fixed it, but it seemed that adding hpoj from AUR and rebooting did it. I then readded the printer and now all works.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are unable to scan wirelessly with your HP Officejet 8600 pro on Mac OS X 10.10. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
I would recommend to start with going through this scanning guide, A 'Connection Error' or 'No Computer Detected' Error Message Displays When Scanning for HP Officejet....
Hope this guide works for you!

Cannot print or scan with USB printer over wifi from airport express / time capsule wifi
Hi everybody,
I have recently set up time capsule connected to the router from the telephone company but created a new wifi network for the time machine to better work. Now I have bought an airport express to be able to use my USB printer over the WIFI network. I have to laptops, the printing works fine over the mac book air but not over the macbook pro. On top of that I cannot scan with either of the devices.
I have scanned most of the information out there but this issue seems not to be addressed properly anywhere. Advices given do always repeat itself but no solution worked for me.
Now I have plugged the usb from the printer directly back into mac book pro and the problem seems to persist here too. The message I receive everywhere is this one:
The software for the printer was installed incorrectly.
Would you like it to be repaired?
When I hit the Repair button a notice says 'repairing permissions' but nothing really happens. In the end nothing has been printed.
Resetting the printing systems has not really changed anything either. The problems persist.
This is the screen I get when the printer is directly plugged in through USB:
Result: printer recognised and installed, I cannot print (The software for the printer was installed incorrectly), but I can scan (probably because of the hint ('multifunction')
When I try to install the printer through the network connection (wifi network over time capsule and airport express) I get this image:
Result: printer recognised over bonjour but without multifunction (in other words without scanning), I cannot scan nor print (The software for the printer was installed incorrectly)
As I already mentioned any solution I found online would not work. Now the qustions are:
1) why can't I print? The drivers seem to be there but somehow broken, and I don't know how to repair it
2) why can't I scan over wifi? It sould possible that any function that can be performed over cable should also be able to performable over air, right?
I would very much appreciate any kind of help.
Thank you in advance,
CrisWhat's up doc?
HP has not provided "network" drivers to allow advanced features when the the All-in-One is connected to the USB port on the Time Capsule.
Therefore, only the printing function is supported when the All-in-One is connected to the Time Capsule's USB port.
If you need advanced features like fax, copy, scan, maintenance etc., you will need to connect over the WiFI network, or connect the All-in-One directly to your computer. -
Scanning with samsung printer/scanner/copier
why won't my samsung scx-4726f scan with the new os x upgrades?
Will it print normally? Try using Applications/Image Capture to see if you can scan. You also might try looking posting on the Samsung support web site - maybe someone has figured it out.

Can't scan with HP 2710 using Mac OS-X Yosemite
When I try to scan, I get an error message stating "install or run HP software". I can print fine but can scan. I am wireless to my router and usb connected from router to printer. I cannot seem to find software for the scan feature for my operating system. Mac OS-X 10.10 Yosemite
Hi @ricmcd,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot scan with your HP Photosmart 2710 using Mac OS X 10.10. I am happy to help you with your scanning!
Are you able to make copies with your printer? (This way we will know that the hardware is functional.)
According to your printer's specifications, and page 9 of the setup guide, the USB 2.0 printer cable must be connected from the printer directly to the computer. As this is the only method supported for connecting this printer to the computer. As this printer is not a wireless printer.
I would also suggest reading the following guides:
Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update.
Scanning in OS X v10.10 Yosemite without HP Software.
If your printer is a different printer other than the HP Photosmart 2710, please respond with the printer's Product/Model Number. To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number, and I will be glad to look into this further.
Hope this clears things up!

Can't scan with snow leopard and canon pixma 850
I think I downloaded the newest driver but though I can print wirelessly I con't see my scanner utility so I can't scan. Ideas?
The inability to scan is caused by a limitation with the Airport device. The USB port of the AirPort Base Station and Time Capsule does not support printer utilities or other special features, such as scanning, that requires a direct proprietary connection.

Dolby Digital in QuickTime?
Now that Apple TV can handle Dolby Digital surroundsound, will it work in QuickTime player too? Anyone tried this yet? It would be nice to be able to export a movie as a QuickTime with AC3 audio in it.
