Can't scroll up

I read previous discussions on this subject but no-one seems to provide a satisfactory answer. I'm using an intel imac with OSX 10.6.8, safari 5.1.7 with a plugged-in mouse. I can scroll down in safari but not up. The same problem exists in itunes. Is there a solution ?

IF you are using an Apple Mouse that is older and has the ball on the bottom, the mouse may have accumulared lint and dust around that ball inside the mouse. BLowing canned compressed air into the hole the ball is in used to solve that problem for me. If that is Not your model of Mouse, then I don't know what's causing the issue.

When I load Safari on my IPAD2, the web page comes up, but I can't scroll down the page. No matter what web page I go to the content stays darker than the navigation bar. This just started today. All other applications work fine.

If it's happening on all sites, then assuming that it's Safari that you're using, have you tried clearing it's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (other browsers should have similar options, possibly within the actual app instead of within Settings). You could also try closing the app completely : from the home screen double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app (or whichever browser you're using) to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it's only happening on a particular site then there may be content on that site that isn't supported on the iPad e.g. flash, java, silverlight

I can no longer scroll with the button on my touch pad. Have tried everything on Firefox help and still can't scroll....HELP please.

I have just updated to the Firefox 4 Beta and from having no problems at all with the previous version I can now no longer scroll. I have reloaded my touch pad drivers and also been onto "about:config" and altered various things suggested by 'firefox help' and still no luck. The scroll button on the touch pad does still work as I can still scroll in Thunderbird and any of the other programs that I use, just not with Firefox any longer. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

Since today the scrolling started to work for me. Was there a fix auto installed? I havent updated anything that I know about.
I might have uninstall an old Java JRE, don't remember when I did it, could that have done it?

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false.
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Can't Scroll Inside Drop Down Menus

I just got a new HP laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit), installed Firefox 11 (now updated to 12), and discovered that when using the track pad (Synaptics Touch Pad v8.1. Driver provided by Synaptics, version 15.3.29.0 dated 10/13/2011), I can not scroll inside drop down menus.

Click the drop down for the category to search. Use the track pad to scroll the list. Mine closes the list and returns focus to the browser instead of scrolling the list. It then scrolls the browser window instead. This works fine in IE. Things I have tried:
Safe mode
Unchecking smooth scrolling
Unchecking autoscrolling
Unchecking hardware acceleration
And just about any of the various combinations of the above things. I also tried restarting Firefox each time I made a change. Nothing seems to solve this issue.
Oddly enough, if there is a text window inside the page (like the on I am writing this in), I can scroll that just fine. Once I move my mouse out of the box, it scrolls the main page just fine. I don't think it's a matter of the focus following the mouse, it has something to do with scrolling drop down boxes specifically it seems.
Also, I should note that all the pages I have problems with work fine in IE the way they SHOULD work in Firefox.

It's Synaptics Touch Pad v8.1. It is using a driver provided by Synaptics, version 15.3.29.0 dated 10/13/2011, and is supposedly the most current version. I have tried getting newer off the HP website, letting Windows search for the most current version, and looking at the Synaptics site, but I still end up with the same version.
I have double checked the scrolling regions to make sure I am within them as well as all the other settings regarding the touch pad. In fact, I had to enable the scrolling regions because they were disabled by default and instead used two finger scrolling. For what it's worth, two finger scrolling gives me the same result - it does not scroll the drop down menu.
As I said, it works just fine in IE and all other programs, so I'm not sure I understand how the drivers for the touchpad could be the issue. It seems to me it's more likely that Firefox is not interpreting the "signal" from the touchpad correctly, yet IE does. Then again, I've been wrong before...

I must have pressed some other key because the display has become huge - and I can't scroll vertically or horizontally, which makes using the Mail pages of Hotmail impossible. I have since logged in using MSFT Explorer and it works fine. This problem occurs only on the Mail page of Hotmail Live not on the home page or others.
Could you please let me know if this is a problem with Firefox, or if you have any advice on how to reset the appearance of Hotmail in Firefox?

Turn on AssistiveTouch: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch. To set Triple-click Home to turn AssistiveTouch on or off, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-click Home.
Try the triple-click Home button. If necessary, use three fingers to scroll to turn AT off.

I'm trying to run webkinz.com for my kids on their new netbook. webkinz runs in ad
obe flash player. flashplayer opens and you can navigate whatever fits on the screen however you can't
scroll up or down to view all other information. there is no toolbar and no scroll bar.
the PC has 1GB RAM and 1.6Ghz so it meets system requirements.

This is most likely a display setting issue. My kid has an Asus netbook and streams YouTube videos all day and night on it (it seems like she does anyway).
With the display set at the default (something like 768 X 420) she had nothing but problems with anything she did online. Once we "max'd it out" to 1024 X 680 (or thereabouts, she won't let me have it right now so I can see for myself) she was able to do more, like scroll around and find other videos she wanted to watch.
Unfortunately at the lower resolution, the video takes the whole screen and while in the video window, scrolling is turned off.

However, you likely have a hardware problem since it started after dropping the iPod. If the toubleshooting does not solve the peroblem then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Qosmio X - Can't scroll on the touchpad

I have driver v12.0 from Synaptics Co. but i noticed that I can't scroll and also I noticed that many options isn't present in this version.
Unlike v7.0 that I had in Qosmio G20!

Have you tried to install the Synaptics driver from the Toshiba website? On the Toshiba website I can find version 11 and maybe the version 12 is not full compatible with your hardware or software.
So download the driver from the Toshiba website. Remove the old version, reboot the notebook, use CCleaner to clean the system, restart again and then install the new touchpad driver.

Can't scroll or right-click in Mavericks

I can't scroll or right-click in Mavericks at all with my Magic Mouse. It didn't happen immediately, rather a couple of days after upgrading. I can't use Photoshop due to these problems, and have to use the arrow keys to navigate other programs. Have tried disconnecting the mouse and setting up again. Also tried reinstalling, and also rebooting several times. Can't try another mouse as I don't have one. I'm a designer by trade and am currently unable to carry out my work. Would really appreciate any ideas you guys have on fixing this! Have heard a few other people have experienced similar issues.

After installing Maverik yesterday I also lost the possibility to scroll with my Magic Mouse.
Does anybody have a solution or is this apple bug the new way of apple features?
Based on this changed mouse functionallity it is no possible to work with Maverik in an efficent way. So take care before installing Maverik.
